If more fans turned up to US GPs there would be more US GPs, it's as simple as that.

The lack of respect and knowledge for the world championship in the USA is why there aren't more GPs - because the fans won't come to watch.

YS want more GPs in the USA.

Has nothing to do with respect. Even funny you are writing that.

such a shame, but true!

I think its great when you see a gp rider make a cameo appearance in a one off ama round- when de reuver went over for southwick a few years ago, desalle at Unadilla/ Washougal etc, strijbos / de dyker competing in a couple of rounds. Makes for interesting racing for the fans

surely if a few more American riders competed in the usgp, it would bring more fans in?

be interesting to see if any of the top riders turn up (other than the ktm/ husky guys that are already confirmed as racing) - and to see if they get more fans there as a result
Reed is planning to race the USGP

"hardly comparable to doing a race a week before an event that pays your wages....."

Riders here make their wages in AMA Supercross and Motocross, plus prize money. Yet you think they should keep sharp and keep training for five weeks after the last national to fly back out to California and race for free... How reasonable is that?

Mccread might be a bigger toolbag than Geoff Meyer. The student has surpassed the teacher.

Second GP will probably be in Malaysia (90% certain). The date of July 10th will possibly be a stadium - MX (no SX!) at the soccerstadium of Schalke 04 in Gelsenkirchen, Germany.

Oh bloody Hell, so the stuff that I read about stadiums may be coming to fruition?

It will want to be a bloody huge stadium, for it to be regarded as anything but SX. I can see Luongo thinking a Mickey Thompsonesque course, but of course with typical modern SX crap, will be his perfect example of Motocross.

That prick has been effing with Motocross for decades now, and unless he's locked up, or carks it, it appears we are stuck with him until 2026. Hang on, he's got a son, Davide , I think, so even if he exits, we'll be stuck with his dream for his sport.

minimum lenght of a Gp track is 1,5 km. It's gonna be tough to fit this in a stadium.

Rules are easily forgotten in MXGP land.

No twin cylinders?
MX2 world champ has to move up?
23 year MX2 rule, er, unless you're a girl?

One US track this year, another US track next year and probably (hopefully) 2 US tracks the year after that (GP+mxdn).

Are you trying to fish here or just acting childish?

Well said DC, although you give mccread too much credit calling him a journalist LOL, he is like the rest of the Euro journalists, an apologist for YS and their FIM lackeys who are destroying our sport, look at the calender and forget about the MXDN, it's a joke, never mind the morality and human rights record of some of the countries visited, where does the new talent come from? How do they get a break unless they have 100,000 euros or so? Now they are talking about MXGP going 250 four stroke!!!
Time for a clear out at the FIM I think, with the recent corruption charges at FIFA, maybe it's time for the FBI to have a look at the FIM and their relationship with their 'promoter' who seems to be dictating the direction of our sport, I understood that was the FIM's job.
Lets give the sport back to those who care about it, not those who are only interested in making money out of it, maybe some of the so called journalists in Europe should ask YS how much they re invest in the sport, not themselves!!
Following the Formula 1 business model does not work, look at the mess they are in now with CVC taking 40% of the revenue, alledgedly for themselves, YS probably take a lot more!!

McCread, here's an idea: pay prize money and maybe some more Americans would come. Why race for nothing but pride after 29 weekends of work, travel, racing and prize money? If you want to talk about respect, start with respecting the riders. You can hit the national pride button on the MXoN six days later.

And why didn't any GP riders but Ken De Dycker race Hangtown before the previous USGPs? That weekend was open, you were there. And why didn't any of the top European riders race the Geneva or Arnhem World SX races in their backyards?

Don't slag off on respect and knowledge when it comes to American riders and fans. We respect your riders immensly, just not the journalists like you who came here and troll for attention. Thought you were better than that.

So that's why the USGP attendance was so small and the GP riders got shit on when they lost the MXdN.
I'm sure there are US fans that respect all kind of racers, but boy they know how to hide themselves.

It's pretty funny how mccread and a few others have such a chip on their shoulders because a domestic series can stand on equal footing with the GPs . I bet it causes them sleepless nights.

There are plenty of us who respect the GP riders every bit as much as AMA riders.

As with a lot of these things, it's the vocal minority which spoil it for the majority. I think the last few MXdNs has shown us how even both sides of the ponds are, but the problem is that it shouldn't have taken that to happen for people to realise.

And DC, you can chat over it as much as you like, but all you have to do is flick a page or two here or on other forums to hear the trashtalk that was constantly given out about the World Championship being a B series - look at how this thread has been changed through the uneducated postings of a few.

Now I sign off as this has somehow turned from a provisional championship schedule post to a Euros vs Yanks discussion.

I don't care about GPs in the states I was talking about the fact that Glen Helen was supposed to have the MxDN this year and know it's moved to 2017. The U.S. Has had only 3 MxDN events in its 60 plus year history. I do honestly think a part of that is GL doesn't want his boys racing on US tracks where they will be at the disadvantage and not the other way around.

Not crying just pointing out that the MXDN is never held here. And with the recent success of European nations at the MxDN I don't think GL is in a hurry to have the GP guys race in the states. As MX Geoff has said numerous times "the Americans are unbeatable on home soil"

It's true and it's bullshit. The countries in Europe are so small. The drive from the '15 and '16 Des Nations tracks (Italy and France) is 9 hours. I live in upstate NY and that barely gets me past PA. It should be in the states every 3 years. From 2008-2016 it will only have had 1 MXDN in the states.

Every 3 years... you are delusional. The Nations pulls a huge crowd every year , from all over , people drive, fly or whatever to get to the race, the cost of every country having to fund a flyaway every 3rd year would kill it stone dead in no time.
3 years is a stretch. But I think 5 years is a good compromise. All of the other major European nations are getting MxDNs in their country or close on a much more consistent basis then we do and I understand the geography of the situation.

60 plus years of history yes, but USA never entered until 1981 I believe, from when you guys won over a decade in a row. '87 was held in Unadilla, '07 in Budds Creek and '10 in Lakewood. With Glen Helen in '17 it's three times in ten years. Many countries have to settle with less, you know.

3 times in 11 years, if it's not moved again. Also we were in a MxDN before 1981.

Good point. Killing the increase in minimum age program for AMA competition was no problem when Roczen decided to come to the states. I like Roczen but leaving the minimum age at 16 is not in anyone's best interest especially racers who forego an education.

Rock, um, that's not what happened. I know you are a safety-first enthusiast, but try to be facts-correct too. Roczen was already 17 when he moved to the states; he had nothing to do with any age question here. It's the FIM that allows kids to turn pro at 15.

Several years ago the Florida State Supreme Court had a case in front of it in which the legality of minor consent release forms was not recognized for a minor who was injured in another sport, but only had the signed consent from one of his divorced parents. Because AMA Pro Racing is located IN Florida, they had concerns about how that case played out, and whether it was possible in this day and age to get minor consent signatures from both parents, many of whom might be divorced or estranged. When the court upheld the forms, we went back to the same rule that's been in place since Marty Tripes won the Superbowl of Motocross on July 8, 1972, at the age of 16 years, ten days.
