No Paulin... No Desalle... No Ferris... No Bobryshev...
Someone else might win a moto if something freaky happens... IMO...

Kind of reminds me of the year it looked like Alessi might get it done and then kaboom, over just like that.
Downhills. gravity, hard ground, and sudden stops off the rubber make for a bad deal.
Worst part is he had really turned it up and was showing everyone that dominating speed that we only got to see on a few occasions this year indoors. He had Dungey doing some serious searching for answers concerning what it was going to take to run with him or should he even try to.
Hopefully when he is healed and ready he can come back just as strong or stronger.
FWIW ET3 is breaking new ground here, bike technology and rider skill level will catch up.
Leave the tracks out of this, what other rider is out for the season because of Thunder Valley?
And ask RV if the GP tracks are safer...
Everyone is mentioning how the season is less interesting now.. The dude has been smoking everyone by 20+ seconds the last five motos. At least now I can keep watching past lap 3. Heal up Eli, never fun to see a young kid get hurt.
Pit Row
Dungey got a gift
Such a bummer for Eli.
If you want to see my point go to the link then advance the video to 33:54 seconds of the moto... it's also :27 seconds
left in the moto before 2 laps... very close call... It's 450 moto 1...

This is a real bummer. Get well soon Eli.
Maybe that's another virtue for Dungy's speed philosophy. If he never gets badly hurt, he can't play those tapes in the back of his mind. And based on personal experience, those memories can haunt a racer. Before my uncountable broken bones, ruptured liver, torn ACLs, concussions, punctured lungs (you get the point), when I looked at a track I only saw opportunities to go faster. Now, there very few sections where I don't re-live some agonizing incident from my past and self-preservation turns the gas down just a tad. Of course, after 43 years of racing things can pile up!
Eli was riding better than he ever has, his confidence must have been sky high and the outlook very promising. Unless he's mentally strong and able to block the negative and focus on the positive, the long rehab will just give him more time to reflect on the seemly random "act of fate". In the best of circumstances, he'll be off the bike for some time and will need to recalibrate physically and mentally. I wouldn't count on him pushing in SX unless he's 100% in both areas.
Will Eli ever show the same dominating speed like the first 3 rounds? Time will tell, but many extremely talented races have succumbed to lesser circumstances. Trey Canard is the poster boy for injury comebacks and as a result I can't help but feel he's lost that half step, hesitates just a microsecond, and continues to make some bad decisions resulting in directly or indirectly crashing hard and having to retire for the season. I feel bad for him, I don't want to see him (or any rider) maimed for life. I always have my fingers crossed when I watch Trey (or JS7) start to push it.
I Hope Eli sees a sports psychologist while he healing. In the meantime, unless KR can make a charge (consistently), it's going to be a boring 450 outdoor season, unless you're a Dungy fan.
