Just another Tomac thread

I seriously don't understand what made Tomac's bike step out so fast at Thunder Point. Was there anything happening that broke his concentration? I've been puzzled for days over what just happened.

I think TV doesn't do it justice. Well for me it does but I'm guessing for you it doesn't by your response. If you saw that section in person and the speed Eli was going through it you'd be like yeah makes sense how his back end could get kick around.

That section causes a lot of guys to crash every year...

I guess the sponsors don't allow riders to wear real protective gear like us off roaders. Back in the day, mx pro's rode with burly shoulder pads/ chest and back protection. I don't remember so many riders getting shoulder injuries back then. They crashed at least as much. JT, HRP, MSR etc products were worn by national champions.
my 5 cents worth of opinion

You don't remember it because there was no internet to spread the word about every incident.

Laser gate. Just let it go, everyone deserves a another chance,How would you like it if everyone kept bringing up one of your worst blunders on social media. Or maybe you're perfect.

My thoughts exactly. The older generation had to rely on paper boys to deliver the injury news which I'm sure was much easier to keep quiet then also. This is a different error now. I don't see how a chest protector would have kept him from dislocating both shoulders.

It looks to me like he just caught a kicker that made the bike swap out a little on him. If it's never happened to you, you should ride more. It wasn't a concentration thing. It was simply a racing incident. Speed is the biggest multiplier of force in a crash and put someone going as fast as Tomac, and the body can only take so much of an impact. I think you're trying to solve a mystery that quite simply doesn't exist. He was going fast. Bike kicked (could have been anything like a bump or even a rock in the rut) and he couldn't save it. High speed crash on the shoulders.

It's all over now except the repair and healing for him.

Reed knows all about how kickers bite just at the right time, I think it was Millville ? and the jump was named Chadapult in his honor ? Anyway, shit happens.

Got damn Honda's..... hardly handles Tomac's speed through braking bumps with 30K suspension.... can't wait to see him on a factory kawi next year, a bike that can handle Tomac's speed and aggressiveness.Wink

I don't believe the camera was on Musquin at the time of his crash. If it was, they never showed it during the coverage and I haven't seen any replays of it.

nothing wrong with shoulder pads, they can prevent an AC separation. But mostly it's the leverage that causes the injury and unfortunately you can't prevent that with protective gear I think

Too much of this in my opinion. Bike kicked sideways halfway through the stroke.
