How much do amateur teams invest in the up and coming a/b riders, per year, do they get compensated by the manufactures. How much does a pro circuit exhaust really cost to make, material and labor. Why do a lot of people at the local level know Dunlops chunk knobs, but Dunlop reponse is , they never hear those complaints? When was the last time 1&2 finished within a few seconds of each other in mx

When approx 50,000 fans are paying approx avg $40 per ticket, why are the privateers or the guys at the back of the pack not earning enough per race to cover transport, race entries fuel and maintenance. I beleive anyone who has made it to the top elite 40 riders in America (22 in sx) deserves to earn from race payout enough to not have to dig into their own pocket to attend.

And a follow up 22 question... who won the bids on that two smoker Reed rode in opening ceremonies? Was it a conspiracy from Team 22 or a way too dedicated Reed fan?

You can ask all you like, just as I can ask why bother. Free speech. I just don't see the point if the rule is there, it's within the framework and other teams have used it also... It's not like KTM is doing something the others haven't or can't. Yamaha has done it a couple times, Honda and Suzuki too, Husky did it in the mid 90s didn't they?

I'll take a stab at that one. He left KTM because he was #2, and RCH got the check book out. He then left Aldon because RC hated Ken riding with his top competetion and convinced Ken he could do it without Aldon.

That's just what I've gathered

Not just a question for GuyB, but on "average", how many sponsors out of a 100 would you say either don't pay, or break contract prematurely?

I have always wondered how many people get screwed behind the scenes. I'm sure a lot gets swept under the rug for marketing purposes.

I've heard that Peick won't race a bike unless that particular frame has been ridden on before? Says he can feel the difference between a brand-new frame and a once-ridden frame? Any truth to that?

You know...I'm not going to out the username. Partly because I went back and looked, and some of the stuff posted was fricking hilarious...because he could post it anonymously. If people knew he was saying those things, it wouldn't have gone over as well.

Also, it'd be awesome if he did some more posting with that account. I don't want to blow that cover.

I will let you know this, though. Another pro had a funny account with the username Skinny Matthes. Wink

You need to give out some more "keys", so we can get some new blood and more activity. You know where I mean.

Poor Ezza's been hanging out there as the last poster since November.

Thank you

Ok how about this one, What is it about Motocross that for some reason the riders can't get paid nearly what they should ?
What's missing ? I know stick and ball sports are popular because everybody can participate and almost every town has baseball fields and tennis courts and golf courses and basketball courts etc. Is it because the average month to month joe can't do it ? or afford to do it maybe ? Nascar fans can't go drive a nascar, but they'll spend their last 200 bucks on a ricky bobby belt buckle and those drivers make serious cheese even way back in the pack. What do you think is missing to take mx/sx into the "mainstream sports salary" zone. Whats missing ? Why can't more than a handful of riders earn a decent wage ?
this is such a dumb question been asked a billion times and some people are so hardheaded or stupid they cant get it into there head that there is not as much money as you think. the networks pay the ball and stick sports billons of dollars from the tv networks thatdoesnt happen in moto and never will. then you have the top guys like stewart and reed who are not going to put their neck in a noose to make sure catanzaro is making the same money and then you always forget that the riders have a contract with theyre oem sponsor gear sponser boot sponsor helmet sponsor and even dunget has a sponsor with target and those contract are dependant on their racing and unless injured their contract makes them race it is not a pick and chose thing. if the rider does not race they are not fulfilling theeir contract are they? you think everyone is going to pay them when theyr on strike for more money for lieb or hicks? everytime one of you bring this up you show how little you know and how ittle you understand of the economics of the sport. know why you don't see big sponsors in the sport like godaddy ot dhl or att or mcdonalds? its because there is no place to put a visible logo that can be seen on tv. even industry sponsors pay a lot of money to get a sticker on a bike and it cant be seen on tv so if it cant been seen on tv then it does not good. you have to get over this last place guys deserve same money as top guys because it won't happen. youact and think on emotion and dont use common sence or the ecomonics as if moto has some magic money tree that they can just shake and everyone cashs in and for every low level guy who quits because of money there is another local pro kids who will step in and take his place

It was true atleast up until last year. We had to Have another rider break his bike in while he was hurt after Daytona because he didn't wanna ride a brand new frame at the next race.

MX is and will always be a niche sport, so I don't think we'll ever reach the top tier of sports for our purses to resemble something like Nascar.

Though, the big thing keeping riders from making an honest living given the current state of SX/MX is that they are not cooperative enough to ever work together to form an association/union to represent all riders as one. The privateers are not big enough to be heard, and the upper echelon of riders don't want to bite the hands that feed them. The NFL, NBA, MLB, etc. all have players unions to collectively bargain as one. MX riders won't go down that road and therefore will continue to get whatever FIM/AMA/Feld/MX Sports gives them.

mechanics say makes it hard to work on bikes makes bikes run hotter becuse of less airflow and engine is encased in plastic and the riders legs still cover it and its not like a hood of a car on tv its still hard to see even zoomed in its covered by the rider

Why didn't Kawi extend a contract renewal to James Stewart in 2008 for 2009 and beyond?
