That's freaking cool!

I wasn't aware that his contract this year was only a one year deal, though.

I bet he received a big boost in income -- hopefully he added another comma to his salary.

I'd really like to see WP's contract compared to Barcia's.

Only one year? That's a disappointment... He deserves a 2 year deal.

JGR hasn't historically held long contracts in the sport of sx and mx....

Why? He came in with 'some' potential so 1 year deal is about right, I'm just glad he smashed it this year, will be interesting to see what happens with team

In John Dowd's interview on SX live in Jersey he said that he never had more than a one year deal his entire career. I was somewhat surprised to hear that.

I figured he made enough of a jump this year to warrant two year interest from somebody. Don't get me wrong it's still good, I just expected someone to lock him up on a longer term.

Honestly, multi year contracts don't make sense in this sport. Look at how many riders dropped from the gates in SX this season. That is spent money sitting idle. Who knows if they can recover to make the investment worthy. 1 year deals, in my opinion, are the smart way to go. Flexibility each season to work around injury or lack of performance.

WP can settle in and prove his value now with a contract done for next year. That has to be a relief of sorts for him. Im anxious to see what he can do now with racing being the sole focus for the season. He has '16 covered now, no worries, gate drops and hammer down.

It appears that he really meshes well with the bike and team.
