Terrafirma 2

Edited Date/Time 1/27/2012 7:50pm
There are some great Motocross videos out there now, but every so often I dust off the VHS version of Terrafirma 2 and it really makes me want to ride. For me when Robby Reynard (please exuse the spelling error) and John Dowd tackle motocross 338 it really makes motocross look like a powerful art. Especially when the first riding shot is RR dragging the bars on his KX 125.

Any part of a video out there that makes you want to ride or pacifies you until you can?

I agree with you. My three favorite moto-videos are...Terrafirma 2, Terrafirma 3, and FLY

I actually went out and bought all the CD's of the songs on those videos. Good Stuff for sure.

Yep T 2 is one of my all time favorites.. The Ezra lusk part of him at his house and the relaxing beats they play throu out the vid are good especially for back in that day. My fav tho of Trea vids is the Doug Henery in blk and wht playing Alice in Chains "nutshell" that was good stuff.

I like the footage of RC pinned, feet off the pegs with Limp Bizkit playing. He never let off the gas... ever. Terrafirma 3 . It was our fishing team name one year.

Is Transworld's "Why" any good?

I got them all on DVD in Fox's Anthology. Those videos and the first 2 great outdoors are the best IMO. I like the Crusty series but the Terrafirmas capture the essence of MX a bit better.

the first two crusty's were great. after that, it was a side show.

disturbing the peace is still a favorite.

and steel roots is another bad ass flick.

SMPs distrubing the peace was good except the pointless animation stuff. I think that video would have been rated much higher if it were not for that because the riding was pretty good. The section with the Honda of Troy was really fun to watch or when Gene Neumac tried to land on top of that little lip down in Florida and said "man there aint no chance of landing on top."

What I like most about the old videos I think is the lack of ramps, for some reason I really do not like watch riders hit ramps. Instead dirt really adds an element to the scene.

My favs of all time are the Terrafirmas.

But, the video that gets the most play from me:

Part 1: I happened to tape RC's 125 race at Gatorback. I think it was his first race of his first full season. (not his first pro race after LL's) First moto he shadowed Lamy. Second moto, was the begining of a dynasty. Fucking gone.

Part 2: MC's final SX race of 96 in Denver. They start with a close up of Emig and MC on the line. Then they zoom into listen to Jbone telling Emig to ride his own race and Skip telling MC that St. Louis was a fluke and to do the same thing he's been doing all season. Which he did. Watching him throw the Nac Nac on the final lap was epic, and still is. That, and Swink was riding good that night until he threw it away over a berm after a huge jump only him and MC were doing (I think)..

I'd love to have someone put this tape on youtube or something so we can watch it online. Bobby?

I have to agree........those are both in the rig for late night moto enjoyment, I guess I like the old stuff alittle better.

Wow, this is bringing back some memories. I think we watched those vids so much as kids that we pretty much burned the tapes out.

Dowd came out to help with a school one year at Southwick. So while talking with the class, I mentioned his part in Terrafirma 2 and how its a great way to see how to ride sand, and he says, "Yeah, the slow motion shots in the turns" or something to that effect. Worlds collided and I was in heaven. I'll never forget that one.

Watching Reynard again makes me remember why he is was one of the only rider to ever beat RC straight up in a race. That guy has some serious talent on them thar dirt cicles.

ya.. WHY is good. I like it. Especially the part of Short and Morais riding on a private supercross track.

hmm.. other movies?

My favorite so far was the TGO: The Formula Special Edition. There is a part of Brett Metcalfe in the opening scene where he is riding through a sweeper full of braking bumps. His tires just tap right over the top of all the bumps in perfect "harmony." Its only a 2 second clip but it blows my mind everytime I see it.

hmm.. I liked a segment in one of the mini warriors with Bubba when he started riding 80's. The track was all sand and he was just ripping on the 80. It was ridiculous. its on You Tube somewhere.

Which one of the Terrifirmas had the scene of young Bubba, RC, and Pastrana all sitting in an RV talking about racing?

Weren't they talking about ice cream?

Fox Greatest Hits has that and is also a great moto movie.

Guy Perret and Shane Watts in the trees, Carey Hart on a MX track, Campbell in the Desert on a five hundy. RC, JS, MC et al. Hill climb, dirt track. Fuckin great flick.

My kids grew up watching it but the vhs is long gone and I cant get an AUS version dvd.

What ever happened to Guy Perret? He is one dude I'd love to go ridin with
