Why not just admit Euro guys are faster and more fit than US riders at this moment. It has been proven over and over again last 3 years at mxdn. This RV thing just proves it ones more.

US riders are better at supercross, but aren't fit enough for GP racing. Cairoli, Desalle and Nagl are gnarly dudes. They have proven that many times... not just this season.

All respect to US riders... Very talented and technical. They are impressive in their on way. But in GP' s it's a different deal.
Faster... No. That is proven every time the MX2 champ comes over to the AMA and they have to adjust to the pace. Faster around slower technical tracks that they are used too I would agree with that. Although at the last couple MxDN's there have been some Moto's where Tomac made everyone look slow. The Fit enough part is laughable as every single European rider has had trouble racing the US nationals in a humid summer.

Overall your last sentence is correct the series are vastly different which is what we are seeing now, RV's wide open style is a direct conflict where you have to slow down to go faster.

**Using MXdN as a barometer is idiotic, USA is always at a disadvantage, but when the race is in the US we win every time. Remember how most Americans were convinced AC222 sucked because of his performances at the MxDN, which is obviously not the case.

Nor can you base all American riders speed off of RV, just one American in the entire class, who has had a less than stellar start to this season. Things have not gone in typical RV fashion at all.

The odds are more even on mutual soil than it is in someone elses back yard, wouldn't you think? Lol
Yes, but that's not the only factor you need to consider, not to mention almost every single MXdN is held on a GP track.

I meant to mention that too, RV is only one American rider. You can't make blanket statements about all US riders based only on his performance.

It's not brave, we've just watched the guy for like 8 years now. We know what he looks like when he's on his game and right now he's not. If you think this is RV at his best and he's just getting waxed by guys he's beaten before then you're an idiot.

seems like "BEFORE" is the magic word

The championship is not over. Its almost like I'm reading the Roczen will dominate for 17 rounds threads we saw a few months ago. RV rode good today and if he is not injured, will be back racing at the front again next week.

I highly doubt RV is training before and now like he did in the states with Aldon. I know Baker said he gave him a program to follow but we also know from both Aldon and RV that Aldon really had to push him to get him to do it.

We may be seeing a RV that did not take training as seriously as before.

THE SKY IS FALLING!!!! Heads up Chicken Littles:
There's a LOT or racing still to be done, and a couple of fortuitous DNFs or injuries could certainly put RV right back in contention. The top 6 guys every weekend have been very evenly matched, and the racing's been outstanding. Chances are excellent that RV will see a few breaks go his way over the summer, and that he'll be right in the mix at season's end. 1st, 3rd, or 5th, RV is a Baaaad Man.
Ive been watchin on the sidelines for a couple of weeks, but now ive decided to join. Racerx went all big brother on their members so ive stopped going there. Your comment was reason enough to provoke. Wisdom is hard to find, and you sir have plenty of it. For all our knowledge, either side of the pond, gained from bench racing for countless years, we still seem to forget one thing time and time again...this is a motorsport. All of these guys could still get injured or have mechanicals. RV could still win this.

Slowing down to go faster is true, the GP tracks dont run the same way as US tracks do,the "intensity" RV pours on at the tracks back home suits his whole style of riding and bike set up,he's shown it in Thailand but wasn't quite so effective as the track wore on and came to AC and Desalle more

It's suprising to look at the diversity of the tracks weve had too and without hitting the sand yet either, its a learning curve for sure, the comments on Teuchental and Kegums by the US riders were about how rough they were and caught some of them out a bit

Fitness wont be a problem for RV,hes been at this long enough, and with a top trainer, being back on the bike from last October is plenty of time too,the Euros do struggle in the US climate, its down to them not being used to it,all these guys are in shape

There's a lot more racing to go,its not over,im sure the pendelum is going to swing a few ways yet

From day 1 I've believed if he didn't win the first year he will 100% win the second. I sure hope he doesn't stick to his word when he said win or lose he's done after this season. No doubt in my mind he'd win next year. He's been making so many mistakes and learning so much each week..

I really don't get why most of people talk about "not confortable yet" or "I hope he will race another year".
What do you exactly think that another year will change for RV?
GP of Patagonia was a first time track for everyone and guess what the results were pretty the same as they were today. But noone talks about this, funny.

WAY too early to say RV is out of the championship provided he doesn't miss a race due to an injury.

Another year makes a difference.
Reed and Townley also Ferris sucked in their first year in europe,They did so much better in their second year.

Villopto has to adapt to the lifestyle etc not just the track like the normal GP riders have to.

Theres so much that would be different in year two. So much is new to him this year that would not be new in year two The 2 day formats, the big gaps between race weekends, dirt he's never raced on before, a new team, a new bike, different competitors, more guys that can run his pace than he's use to. The list goes on and finally he may have underestimated how much preseason prep he needed.

If he stays to year 3 he will be really double super good.

but aren't fit enough for GP racing. This guy is something special popcorn and beer anyone?

RV is as fit as anyone out there, is he lacking experience , YES he does, thats why he is struggling nothing else.

Its exactly the same deal when a european comes to america and ride, they struggle in their first season no matter supercross or nationals, why would it be any different for RV look at roczen struggling big time in the heat, "is the ama tougher because of that, no its just different, the tracks are different in europe, can rv learn them and pace AC heck yeah he can but he needs more time, there is no way or was no way he would win by ease, people who said such things dont know the depth or quality outside europe, but it dosent change the fact that RV is still of the world greatest and if he find himself comfortable he is more than capable of winning races and beat the best of europe, things have not clicked for him, you could say the same for Paulin, Hoorebeek, he is still ahead of these guys " are they just as bad as rv now" or ??,

Funny how many keep using MXDN as the barometer but at the same time keep whining that people cant use MXDN to judge anything, double standards if you ask me.

Im a fan of both series, but its more then obvious to me that some europeans really want to have confirmation since they been mocked by the pathetic words USA will smoke everything, so now when they dont some certain individuals on this forum just goes 100% berzerk, with social media this day its easy to trashtalk behind the computer.

Like i said before those americans or those europeans trashtalking each other or judging "wich series is the best" are both just as pathetic.

MXGP / AMA nationals, different series with different amosity quality , styles. I have yet to see anyone come to any side of the pond to put a cllinic to any series, learn and adapt in the first season is inevitable, and RV are no exception.

He's now behind on fitness, chasing a bike setup that will work and has lost confidence. I don't feel things will get better for him.

Can't speak for Reed but Townley was exactly where he expected to be after his first year in Europe. He was a no name when he arrived and had to put in the hard yards with an entry level team. Its a bit different with RV who is a seasoned pro.

Apart from his two novice moments (stall and flip), he's actually doing alright and he's pretty much the same speed as those guys who are not exactly slouches.
