@swtwtwtw that's interesting, but I didn't read it in mxa. Have you tried it? Or what makes you say that?

I've been meaning to add a few holes in my left side plate, but haven't yet. I know it will help a little, but honestly I don't know if it'll really make an improvement I will be able to tell. The filter may get dirtier lol

I haven't tried it, but I considered it. I no longer consider this mod, because 1-some riders have and they have not given either a positive or negative response on performance gain, and 2-after several hours of riding mine, which runs very clean and is capable of pulling 3rd gear starts, I noticed how much dirt air the filter collects as is. I think more air in this case would just add dirt.
Another suggested mod:

ARC Composite Levers---:-)

Here's my stallion! 2014 tc250. In the picture it was converted to a 300sxs. I'm back to a modified 250 now! Has anyone tried using a flywheel weight on their bikes? I just installed one on my bike, looking forward to seeing the difference next weekend.

Be sure to come back and give us a ride report. I've been considering it as well but every time I ask about them I get mixed reviews.

remove top lefthand and top righthand side sub-frame bolts. Brings a noticeable suppleness to the handling. (suggestion via Factory Husky). Yes, I did it. I rode moto with and then immediately afterward another moto without. I am leaving them out.

Picked up a 15 250sx a week ago and just trying to make it a bit more comfortable. Anyone know how lessen the vibration of the bike? I know they sell anti vibration inserts and bar clamps but seemed a bit gimmicky to me.

Also the forks seem really stiff and rebound pretty agressively. This could be due to the forks not being broke in but I'm not sure. I went two click back on both the compression and rebound which seemed to help some. I imagined the bike was set up for my weight considering I'm 165 with no gear. 5'10" slower B rider in both woods and mx. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I've been having problems with my jetting lately! It may be that I'm not very good with jetting and carbs, but still. Kinda annoying.

Haven't tried NECJ, 175 main and 40 pilot just yet (what kind of temp are you guys running that on?)

I'm running this setup:
Pilot: 40
Main: 160
Needle: N1EG - clip 3
Air screw: 1 3/4 out

It seems to be too rich when starting the bike - I don't need any choke to fire her up. How to lean that out? Even smaller pilot or adjust the air screw in? Or bigger pilot with more air?
Any suggestions?

The starting diameter is very short and rich on that N1EG needle, and depending on where you have the idle set, you may already be slightly into the first taper of the needle. What this means is, that the bike will never run clean at low throttle setting with that needle. There are a bunch of good jetting options for that bike, with the Suzuki NExx needles being a very popular.

Hey guys I've got a 15 ktm 250 sx and have a few questions. First off I want to get a pipe and silencer Combo that smoothes out the mid range and adds some over rev. Second I hate the way this bike handles... My current settings are 108mm sag, forks on the second line and fork and shock springs to suite my weight. I feel it tries to stand in corners, it's front busy in corners and pops out of ruts too easily. As a reference my last bike was a 2013 250 sx with the pro circuit longer link, 108mm sag and forks flush. wat can I buy/do to fix these problem?

The smoothest pipe out there is probably Bill's with a long silencer.

And if you hate how the bike handles, it might be in your sag. 108mm is a lot of sag. A lot of recommendations at the 103-105 range. I found I liked min at the 100-102 range. I always ran the forks at the first line on them and not flush to the caps. You're doing everything with your setup to make the bike super stable and trading your quick handling for it.

I'd try less sag, adjust your forks up. If you're still not happy, the adjustable offset triple clamp works great. I ran it on my 250 and loved it.

Your 15's link is identical to all of the aftermarket links that's why nobody has one available for the 15. I'd go to 100-102 on the sag and run the forks up in the clamps on the 2nd line. Unfortunately the 4CS is probably the worst fork ever and I'm afraid that the fork could be most of your problem. Get them done by a reputable tuner who has extensive knowledge with WP's 4CS fork and its issues and I'm sure after that is done that you'll love your bike. The Bill's pipe and MX2 silencer is without a doubt the best pipe available for the 250/300SX right now. It's super smooth and revs to the moon. Get it and you'll thank me later :-)

I'd agree on the sag, sweet spot on my YZ was 108 but I am at 103-104 on my SX right now. I run my clamps on the 2nd line on the forks, on the 1st line I couldn't get it to turn as well.
Mine was over sprung when I got it stock and that caused me to jump out of ruts and not be able to turn like I wanted.

Lemme guess, lowers the back of the bike slightly.

And will 2015 link bolt up to 2014?

Yes but only slightly because KTM also changed the knuckle too and yes the 15 linkage will fit but only if you use the 15's knuckle as well.

Start by ordering a V-force 4 reed assembly. Set your deck height. Set your powervalve dimension correctly. Get a carb off a 125/150 38mm. DO NOT oval bore it or intelajet it. You're going to order a NECJ needle from a 2008 rm250. with a 175 main 42 Pilot and the clip in the 4th position from the top. You're going to run the stock 6.5 slide, and turn your air screw out 2 turns! Put the red powervalve spring in, some people like it turned in, I like to run it flush. Bills offers the best all around power for a pipe and silencer combo, obviously shorty for quick revving power, longer for faster straighter tracks. Dial in your suspension, get the ktm phds anti vibe bar mounts so your arms don't fall off, take it to the track and hold her wideeeee!! have fun on that thing you're going to love it!!

Today was the first time I finally got to ride my 15 tc250. First thing I did was a necj 2008 rm250 needle on the 4th clip, 172 main, and a 42 pilot. Power valve screw set flush and air screw two turns out. Stock exhaust....bills pipe gets here on Monday. I also went with 14/51 gearing.

I'm in Florida. Today's weather was in the low 80s. What carb settings do you recommend?

I sold my 2008 rm250........well, what a disappointment this 15 tc250 is!! Its got nothing on the bike it replaced. Its not as snappy and it stops reving pretty quick.

What am I doing wrong? Ran it at 50:1

Just out of curiosity, what power valve spring do you run? Most people run the red one. That alone will change the power delivery drastically.

And the 36mm carb does cause for a little bit early of a sign off. The solution to that is to trade your carb (or buy one) for one off of a 125/150. The small bore bikes come with a large bore carb (38mm) that allow them to rev. The 250/300 comes with a 36mm carb that allows for great throttle response, but signs off early. The bikes benefit greatly from making the switch.

Just put the bills pipe on my bike, gonna ride it tomaro and ill tell ya how it is, I have the pro circuit and fmf and scalvini, out of those 3 the scalvini is by far the best, ive been told the bills is way better than the all of them! I ll know tomaro lol, I also have a 38mm carb and a jbonemotorworks ported/head 300sx. My jetting is 178main, 42 pilot, necj 3rd clip. Strickly for vpc12 and its jetted to perfection, this bike is a blast to ride!!!

I was completely disappointed with my ktm at first after coming off years on rm 250s.

I've seen all the jetting specs on here...and my bike ran rich and flat with them. It wasn't snappy and didn't bark like a 250 should.

I ended up with a 158 main...38 pilot and suzuki needle on the 3rd clip. With the elevation and warmth in Florida I bet it would work for you.

I put on a pc silencer.with my stock pipe and it completely changed the bike. It rips. Unless you got money to blow I wouldn't mess with the carb or buy a pipe. The silencer made a big difference.

Jbernard, yea , very noticeable, im not sure if u remember but I had a 12 300sx, and the motor was done by mike S from cycleplayground he has a great reputation on ktmtalk, I thought that bike was amazing, the motor jbone did for me over the winter KILLS my previous 300! Send me your email again and ill send ya pics of inside the cylinder. The bike is very easy to ride and has such a smooth powerband that has more of everything, but revs to the moon, his customer service blew me me away as well..I would totally recommend anyone with a smoker or even 4banger, his prices are very reasonable aswell if u call, his name is josh 860 428 5528, tell him nj rob sent ya

I also have a JBone Motorworks motor in my 250. He matched and ported the cases, as well as the cylinder and head. JBone is a great guy to work with and does his work at a very fair price. He's super knowledgable about what he's doing in order to give you what you want for power and not a "universal" porting job.

All of that being said, I wanted solid all-around power. Probably a simple request? More power everywhere. Well, after a lengthy discussion with JBone himself that determined what type of fuel I was currently running/would have to run, what was done to the bike already for mods and that I wanted a motor that was smooth and tractable...he was cut loose.

What came back was well packaged for shipping and included the proper items required to set squish according to what needed to be done. An evening putting the bike back together and she was ready to rip.

Unfortunately, I didn't log a lot of time on my JBone Motor before I broke my leg. What I can tell you about the time I did log is that the motor is super smooth and easy to ride. It doesn't hit violently. It's also deceptively fast. You don't even realize how fast you're going on it before it's happening. One of the things JBone had told me was that it would be torquey and put down a lot of power all the way to the ground...very similar to that of a four stroke. Having ridden my 450FE back to back with it, I'd say he delivered exactly what he said he would. In full disclosure to that last statement, I'm new to really riding four strokes. I know and understand that the nuances are something I have to look forward to in order to make the best two stroke/four stroke comparison. But the lack of having to shift and the smooth power delivery, along with the ease to go fast are things I can say without hesitation.

My cell phone photos of his work don't do it justice, but here are some photos. And if you're looking to get some motor work done, JBone at least deserves a call so you can evaluate him yourself. His number is 860-428-5528. And his prices are very competitive for the service you get and how individualize it is.

How did it ride with the bills pipes?

I rode my 2015 tc250 today with a 158 main and a 40 pilot. I left the 08 rm250 necj needle in and wow, I did notice a difference......4th clip. Bike ran much better than with the 172 main and 42 pilot here in Florida.

My bills pipes exhaust comes in tomorrow.

Has anyone had an issue with that rubber connector between the stock head pipe and silencer? Have only rode the bike twice and noticed a good bit of that black oily substance on the shock around the kick starter area. I took the silencer off and could see it was leaking on the head pipe side of the connector.
