And committed to one of these rebuilt antiques. Should hopefully be here in a few weeks.

Nice. Simple. Fast.

No more radiators, hydraulic brakes or power valves for me.

You have to love those yellow plate bikes!

Although I personally prefer the next two year models better.

Have fun, twist with moderation.

Couldn't have picked a better bike IMO. My dad had one that was like new for a few years during my late teens. Every time I rode it I was impressed with the entire package even though it was going on 10yrs old at the time.

A beast! I raced one in 1983 as a 16 year old kid! I liked that bike, but once it got on the pipe, hang on.

Looks like a widow maker. Be safe with those drum brakes. I am gonna stick with modern bikes.

That thing would be a dust collector in my spare room. Too nice to ride. Wouldn't want to lose it's value or rebuild it again.

I loved my 83, certainly one of my all time favorites. That bike handles so well and with that sweet pulling 480 it would still be a good bike today, if....you like mushy soft suspension and brakes. That twin caliper front drum will work, but only with careful maintenance and tuning.

I had a KX420 and that thing was a beast also. I always had fun on it though. Until it air leaked through a crack in the intake and I was spit off while road racing it and got all tore up.

Being 57 I'm pretty use to dirt bikes with brakes that didn't work.

I won't even ride it until the suspension revolved/sprung.

Is your deal already made? I know where a pretty nice one is close to me here in Texas. And I know how to build a crate for cheap shipping.

Cool bike ! I've decided to go evo also but still looking for a bike. I may go twin shock though. There's a decent looking 1980 CR 250 near me but the guy won't budge off of $1500 and he says one of the shocks leak but it runs good. I may still go take a look at it.

Man I love old Honda open classes! I had one of these back in '84. Somehow, I talked my dad into getting it for me. I was 14 at the time and weighed 135 lbs. That bike hauled with my skinny ass on it.

SWEET!!!! I have an '82 and LOVE IT! One piece of advice - they're rattle traps. Watch the nuts and bolts, I've lost my kick starter at the starting line (that makes it hard to start when you stall it during a race) and other misc. nuts and bolts while riding. Have fun, you're gonna love it!

So what's the deal? Do you go Race Tech emulators on the stock forks or go with 87 forks / internals?
What's the trick current shock setup for it?

Sweet. I picked up a 83 cr 480 also. I am only going to use the engine, so if you may need a part from a roller I may have it.

You're probably still under 2' of snow while here in the banana belt were totally snow free but the mud is impressive!

I raced one last year in the 500 expert class at Diamond Dons, I can't remember the last time I had that much fun.
