I finally did it, had the itch to pick up another 2 stroke for a couple years now, and Thursday I scratched that itch. Scrolling through CL Thursday after work, this 06 KX250 was listed with minimal details. Was only about a half hour from me, so I figured what the heck. Still had the stock graphics on it. Kid had looped it out and broken the back fender. Had an FMF Pipe and Silencer, V Force Reed Block, New chain and sprockets. Started it up and took it for a spin and ended up leaving with it for 1400 bucks WITH a title. Started picking it apart this morning and to my satisfaction, it was in great shape. Clutch basket barely has any marks on the tongues, compression seems to be good. Needs a set of fork seals, brake pads, and an air filter. I'm going to stick it back together and get some late year riding with it, then this will be my winter project pulling it down to the frame and doing a mild build. I haven't quit smiling since Thursday night. If anyone has any tips or trick for this era of KX let me know!

Enjoy the new ride and the build!
For sure have the suspension revalved and springs for your weight the stock set up is horrible at best. I have the procircuit link in the rear and it has helped the turning considerably but dont expect to turn under an RM. I bought mine unridden last November and have about 35 hours on it, it's all mid and up power and will bring a smile to your face if you can ride a 2 stroke reasonably well. I really like mine and have my cylinder and head out to Tom Morgan for some porting and head mods!
I put new era KX450F forks on it, big difference, that and an R304 shorty are the only mods done to it.

You'll need to make a small spacer to slide around the fork on the upper clamp as the o.d. on the 450 forks is slightly smaller than the 250. I used thin aluminum to make mine. The 450 clamps won't work unless you're willing to weld new stops to your frame or clamps.
Looking forward to seeing your finished product. It's looking great so far
Don't want to give to much away but I've always been a fan of RV's bikes from a couple years back. Saw it at Mt. Morris and it's been stuck in my head since. Just have to get a line on a white rear fender and NO monster logos
My OCD dictates that the hubs, foot pegs and triple clamps have to match. The rims, frame and bars also have to match
