Malin said on the race coverage that van Horebeek struggled with bike setup issues at Qatar, he has been there before and is not new to GPs. Reed came into SX thinking he was good and had to scrap his setup and start ove, Reed went from barely in the top 10 to a win, and looked like he was headed to a win at ATL2. Canard changed suspension manufacturers and showed dramatic improvement while Seely didnt and has also improved.

Whats the point of all the above? Setups can be changed, its not like they are set in stone. From what I read in his comment RV knows he needs to change his setup and trust me, he is more interested in winning than clinging to his old AMA setup.

Greatly appreciated, I'd just like Sunday to be a bit more civil around here and it's slowly getting back there. Smile

"he commented. “I know that is happening but bottom line is that I had the balls to come over here to race. It is not going to be easy and never once have I said it would be easy.""

This part seems to be the bottom line in my opinion. The guy committed to riding the other series in the world while arguably at his peak. Doesn’t matter to me if he wins or not, the guy gets my respect for walking away from what he knew to put himself out there on many levels. Pretty sure we won’t see any other top riders from either side doing that at the peak of their career any time soon.

I think it may take 3,4 maybe even 5 races before he finds a setup that gets him to the front and by then it may very well be too late but hopefully it gives him a new challenge and renews his interest in the sport enough that he gives a go again next year with a setup that makes him a contender from race 1.

Agreed going to Valkenswaard GP, want to see a RV battling for wins

I'm actually excited about this.

I would've loved to see him win but at the same time, this will be RV's biggest challenge of his career. I'm excited to see how he reacts. It would've been cool to see him run away with it but also very boring. This is going to be more fun to watch.

You don't think if he steps it up that the rest will too?

Misguided beyond belief.

Your posts repeat, they say the same things that they have said since you popped up on this American forum as you call it.

And stop calling Brits with an opinion that doesn't match your small mind USA or RV haters, it's really childish. Most of us have been here for years, not a couple of months like yourself, grow up a bit, take a step back, observe.

To that I would only say that some people do a better job of stepping it up than others.

Awesome stuff!

European Vacation is now officially over and time to get down to it... lets see if he can come roaring back fueled by some anger and the sting of embarrassment... I cannot wait for the next round.

Looks in good shape to me...

“Pretty s**t. All I know is that every time we went on the track we got better,” he assessed from the confines of the permanent pit garage complex afterwards. “From yesterday until now we got better all the time. We definitely have some things to work on with the bike, set-up-wise and getting the thing to work a bit better in these conditions. It is not a U.S.-spec set-up but it is really close. We’re gonna work on that.”

“If we can keep doing improvements on the track, preferably quickly, and steps in the right direction fairly soon then we will be OK,” he added. “By no means did we do good…but we salvaged some points.”

Ryan certainly is not oblivious to the ripple his MXGP transfer has caused. It reaches into the motocross community but also in motorcycle sport generally and—whether he really cares or not—he knew that this first outing would invite opinion. “I’m sure things are going crazy right now with the ‘look at this-look at that’,” he commented. “I know that is happening but bottom line is that I had the balls to come over here to race. It is not going to be easy and never once have I said it would be easy. We’ll keep working and moving forward.”

Coke and Hanson merged... Coke owns Monster Energy Drink. That happen around the beginning of December.

Qatar was a shitty flat man-made jump track and an insult to the MXGP series.
final 450 moto got started at 11:00 pm local time? wtf. Where are the spectators? Even with free tickets no one was there.

Jihn Basher writes: This is just another example of how far off base Youthstream is with holding the opening round, of what is supposed to be the premiere motocross series in the world, in the infield of a MotoGP racetrack in the desert on a Saturday night.

WhaaaAAAT? There's an italian who won 8 World titles?

Where were the spectators? Probably watching guys polishing their Bugatti Veyron or banging wife n°3.
The other ones (Indians etc...) who could benefit of the free tickets were probably to tired to come because of their 18 hours a day of work, or not allowed or dead.

Qatar doesn't give a sh... about MX just like they can't care less about Handball and they've been second at the Handball World Cup just a month ago.
They just took advantage of an interational Handball rule that allows a country to borrow any player of any country if he hasn't been in his native national team for three years (yes, absurd).
This championship has been a great success audience wise. No surprise there, 75% of the audience got paid. Free tickets? LOL!
They have the money, they're bored, they buy stuff, people, History...

I don't understand how such an experienced Team and the 2 experienced Riders did not want to do the warm up races to either fine tune or qualify the set ups?

Was there an underlying issue?

He has been through this since he was a young tacker.

Was there an underlying issue, or is this really just a holiday?

After good nights sleep here are my thoughts on yesterday, I have more Respect for Rv than before he could of retired and been immortalised for his Great achievements in sx & mx he's done what very few will ever do! What he's done by racing gps is put his reputation on the line! He has one thing to gain by doing this and a lot to loose to a certain respect! You can see why 1st Everts and now carolli didn't go to the USA what would they gain if it hadn't of worked out?
So its a Big heads up to Rv and I hope it comes together for him party coz he deserves to show the world what he can do when not on home soil and partly because he's got bigger balls for Risking it all than 99% of the MX world put together!
It also makes me realise how amazing riders like Jmb, Tortelli, Dv, Reed, Musquin & Roczen are for putting there reputation on the line to go to the USA to give it a go!
Respect & peace! X

Do you actually believe what you are saying? RV will only look back to see how far behind his competition is? So you really believe that RV is that much faster than Cairoli? Cairoli will only get MUCH faster from here. And soon we will see the sandtracks. RV will not be in the top 8 on heavy sandtrack. RV will be up there some races and maybe win a moto or two. But you must be blind the way you are talking.

I think this is the most expensive year ever for the Kawasaki Racing Team, and they've put all of their hope on Villopoto. He'll get there, no doubt, but don't forget that he actually wanted to quit. The only reason he still races is because he couldn't break his contract that's still running and that he can earn a shitload of money. I don't know if that's enough motivation for a champion like him to go for it a full season.

And Rattray... Well, he's not even a top 5 rider anymore. It will surprise me if he ends the season in the top 10.

He got his ass kicked. Big time.

But I dont expect that to be the running theme the entire year.

He will get it sorted out.

I hope it's just a coincidence that the poster on the wall says "evacuation plan". Kind of ironic and funny.

Agreed. Ryan seems the type that remembers stuff for a long time. When things turn around, and they will turn around, I expect all of the US, ama, RV supporters / fanboys to behave ourselves and mind our manners,,,,,,,,,,
