Denver was a last minute substitute for what would have been the first Salt lake SX and it was the last SX of the year and McGrath had his win streak broken but the title tied up so most people didnt even know about it. Turn out was so low that the AMA was going through the pits trying to get anyone they could so they could have qualifiers for the 125 class and then a freak wind storm blew through and took down the finish line banners.....................but the after race BBQ was great.

Slight correction(unless I misunderstood you): I attended LA in 1997 when Tortelli passed Henry on lap 19 for the win.
I was just stating that the old Mile high stadium is no match in size with the LA coliseum in any way shape or form. The Denver SX was more like a arena cross race that also ran one around the outside of the football field. When they built the track they made the doubles and triples closer together because they thought the elevation would make it hard to clear normal ones but they had a long run at them that everyone was over jumping them.Just a real bad SX.

I could only see a supercross in Chicago or Milwaukee if they dropped Indy and Minnesota off the schedule (assuming they'll be back in Minneapolis). Indy is a nice facility. Lambeau just doesn't make sense, between the weather and the lack of population in the UP. People from Chicago aren't going to drive to Green Bay for a supercross when Indy is on the schedule and the weather will be better.

Yeah it's a cute idea but with no covered stadium and the possibility of snow the all the way through the season, I don't think it's plausible. Maybe one of the last rounds before Vegas, but it's still a potentially very costly gamble.

A SX at Folsom Field in Boulder, or Coors Field where the Rockies play sounds intriguing. It has been a long time since any of those stadium's regular fans have seen anything resembling a competitive event. The only downside with Boulder would be the inevitable dreadlock being caught in the spokes.

You can't be serious, you're comparing local races to people who would attend a supercross at mile high or coors field? Besides, I thought four strokes killed the local racing scene....

I have a solution that also serves the low lap time issue. Kansas City! Arrowhead and Kauffman are right next to each other. We link them together and fill both stadiums with fans it would be phenomenal. It'll never happen but how com would it be?

You claim that dirt bikes are more popular now than in 1996 . Local races and local bike sales are how you would gauge popularity of dirt bikes, always has been always will be. How did you come up with your opinion that dirt bikes are more popular now than 10 or 20 years ago because sales numbers do not lie.

Wasn't there a round in Joliet, IL quite a few years ago? If hell freezes over there would be a late-season round at Wrigley! Soldier Field would be an epic supercross venue as well. We can only dream...

They even publicly said when they build Coors field that there would be no motorsports in the stadium ever the new mile high stadium said pretty much the same thing. I agree that Boulder is was too green to let it happen there.

They had one in arrow head stadium back in the late 70s or early 80s , dont remember if they ran there more than a year or two but it was a good event

i agree with pittsburgh. PNC park is a beautiful stadium and by the time later east rounds come around snow isnt a problem. Heinz field isnt as nice but it could also work. Any sort of motor sports are very popular here, and the entire surrounding areas. They would for sure get a large crowd. I never understood the logic of multiple rounds in the same place other than it being easy for them to do, but with the anaheim turn outs this year i dont think its really feasible anymore.

Yeah, I agree - I don't see it happening. I just can't miss an opportunity to take a shot at CU though. Also, I can't stand the Rockies's owner so I had to throw in a dig on them too.

I do like that Feld is having a California round late in the year. That is another reason attendance is struggling in Cali is because they are all on back to back weekends.

Yeah I just don't get half the people on this site, they all twist what is said & think so highly of the smell of their own farts. Supercross is more popular then ever & bike sales & local races don't have shit to do with it. Ticket sales do. 2012 saw record ticket sales. Because local racing scene is down somehow Supercross tickets wouldn't sell in a city this large with 2 other large & growing cities right next to it? People owning dirt bikes, buying dirt bikes, racing locally have shit to do with how mainstream it has gotten or how household the word "motocross" has become.

I have been to PNC Park a couple times and love the city of Pittsburgh. I think PNC is one of the nicest stadiums in America, the problem is that Supercross will never work at PNC. Once baseball starts in April they are not going to cover the field up for a week and then have to redo the entire field, not to mention the Pirates would have to work their schedule around that. It would have to be at Heinz field
