This shitshow was mishandled from the start.
I don't know the testing policies that these idiots have in place but they should have standards that protect all parties involved, and thats what concerns me, the riders have no voice or representation in all of this.

Imo their are bigger issues that could of been addressed in SX/MX!

Until we get to a point where you have lots of different winners the sport wont grow. I remember telling a girl years ago I was going to watch supercross. She said, yeah I know that sport, its the one where the same guy always wins. Remember A1 last year???? What a race. If they could all be like that.

The way i look at it:

WADA accepted his TUEs recently for the same substance that he tested positive for at the Seattle SX round (Adderall). I think whatever fine, penalty, suspension they give him will be for a Paperwork mistake rather than the drug he tested positive for, or else they would not have accepted his TUEs.

I hope we see stew at A1 but i will agree the MXA article did not sound too promising. Gonna be hard if he is suspended from racing he has always been my favourite rider.

It's not just a paperwork issue. Try not filing your taxes for a couple of years. After you get caught, you can tell the IRS it's just a paperwork issue. I'm sure they will understand.

While you're at it, don't register for the draft when you turn 18, because after all, it's just paperwork. Let me know how that works out for you.

A TUE is not just paperwork. It is based on the informed medical opinion of a certified doctor. Stewart took a banned substance without a TUE. I'd love to see him race also, but rules have to have consequences in order to be fair to everyone.
Nahhhh it's definitely a paperwork issue. Rules should have consequences but they also shouldn't be fucking stupid.

The only way the purses are going to go up is if the riders demand that it happens. Otherwise why would any business voluntarily give up their profit just to be nice guys? The gates are full. The stands are full of fans. And the truck carrying the money to the bank and stacked as well. Not a lot of incentive for the business model to change when it's working for the business.

If the team doesn't know, MXA doesn't know.

I pretty much agree with the 2 statements above. Still going to watch and enjoy the racing but it would be better if he was there for sure.

CRUSH,
I generally agree with most of your posts and this one is no different. Wink

This will be arguably the best SX season since the 80's era. I think there will be multiple winners and am hoping Vegas will bring a battle between several riders for the title. The general public gets tired of "one guy" dominating ANY sport. I'm ready for some bar banging between these guys. Even if Stewart is on the gate @ A-1, he's no longer the "one guy" that will most likely win. I hope he's there racing, but he will be one of many guys that can win a race !!

Well, I think they would have accepted it prior to the start of the season too. They accepted the TUE afterwards because they did believe the opinion of the doctor who signed it. I understand your point, however. But even if he has permission to take the adderall now, that doesn't change that fact that he had no permission to use it when he tested positive. Just like the IRS, WADA has to enforce their rules the same for everyone.

It sucks. Again, I want to see James race, but I can understand if the announced penalty includes a suspension.

I was with you up until you said what did about the IRS applying the rules to everyone equally...

Agreed...

I just spoke to my brother about this terrorist bullshit in sydney, then we casually moved to Stewie...

He made the point that he thinks they have to do a ban so we don't look janky... I agree... but I also think that say he cops 2-4 races... That's actually probably the best thing for Stewie. He does his time, he cops it sweet, releases some good pr about learning, doing it right...And more importantly than anything, he's got the reigns taken off for the rest of the series. James with nothing to lose is actually probably more dangerous than one hoping to win the title from the outset.

If nothing else Feld should just say F it and let him race. Race, but not pay points to him. If it was truly a paperwork deal I'd hate to see him go out like this. He wouldn't get in the way more than lappers do.

I agree with trent179. Feld should say F U hes racing. He puts more people in the seats than any current rider out their. U goto races to c your favorite racers race, with #2 going to europe n now taking #7 out, thats a major hit for every fan. Oviously its a buisness n buisness all wanna make $$$ , the 2 biggest stars weather u like them or not , if their not on the starting line the fans are the ones that loose.

You're right, they should retire SX when Stewart retires. How will they ever stay in business when the fans don't have anything to watch?

Reded no shit the show goes on, but its a hell of alot more exciting when the BEST sx riders in the world are racing.

wow... talk about writing a paragraph with absolutely zero substance... that was dailey mail or enquirer worthy! I think he was spotted with aliens or Sasquatch too from that journalistic gem!

he is appealing it... that's it!

it doesn't sound good, where did you get that from?

If i were him i would tie the the euro trash (WADA) up in litigation, damage to image, damage to brand (seven), lost earning potential, lost championship bonus and laugh all the way to the bank!

how could he do that you ask... they gave him the TUE after the fact, any good lawyer could argue they are admitting he requires to take the substance due to non performance enhancing (for medical reasons) reasons all day long, and there should be no other penalty than time served.

This whole thing is an effing joke from the start!

I don't think complying with the law after you've been caught negates you from your previous offences?

If it does, I have a speeding fine from 5 years ago, I'd like my money back thanks.

TUE must be place before the tests. I am sure the lawyers would take JSEs money, but he'd be wasting it on a lost cause.

Yeah I know, and I'm sure he is taking the lawyers in...

Again tho I'll go back to my point about how you're asked to sign a piece of paper before being tested, and how he's a professional, and how there's maybe 20 people in his crew/team/entourage and no one thought that maybe taking a medication should be checked... It's a bit silly to think that sounds reasonable to some people.

On the other hand, I'll take your coffee and raise you a crazy Dad... apparently there is a muslim father here who is about to try sue the government because her Daughter was just killed in Syria fighting for ISIS, and apparently it was the government's fault for not stopping her.

He should be punished but in this sport with young retirements, 2 years is to long. 4 or 5 races should be the limit for 1st offense
