so does this mean they are going to keep forcing him down to the MX2 class until Cairoli retires?

Herlings tried SX here on a test track and was horrible, they shipped him back....him racing the nationals here would have been great. I was looking forward to it when they rumored him to be at millville..

At the moment, no (in my opinion). I'd have to see a whole lot more evidence than we currently have to believe that Herlings is faster than Cairoli.

Its a good thing Herlings is staying in the MX2 class for 2015. He would be in for a rude awakening if he lined up against RV.

Maybe he knew about RV coming over for awhile and decided to stay in the MX2 class? Cool

Doubt it. The rider know what's up, KW was always called said to be the most talented... Or RR, or MC, or James. RC didn't give a fuck.

KTM RACING SIGNS JEFFREY HERLINGS FOR 2016-2017

KTM Racing has announced that Jeffrey Herlings, the most talented rider in the World Championship Motocross paddock has been signed to ride as a Red Bull KTM factory rider until the end of the 2017 season.

In 2009 Jeffrey rode for JM Racing KTM, his first step to becoming a full factory rider with the KTM team. His opportunity came to move into the MX2 KTM Factory Team at the end of 2009 when, shortly after his fifteenth birthday he had his first factory ride.

Herlings, a Red Bull athlete, rode his first full MX2 season with Red Bull KTM Factory Racing in 2010 and became the youngest ever MX2 GP winner riding in front of his home crowd at Valkenswaard in April of that year.

Since then he has amassed an impressive total of two MX2 World Championship titles (2012 and 2013), 43 GP wins and in 2014 had an unbeaten streak of 18 race wins. He also won all the GPs in which he started in 2014 however an untimely injury prevented him from competing in the next three GPs of the season.

Jeffrey showed immense courage and determination, and the respect of the entire world of motorcycling to return to the final round in Mexico, attempting to seal his third title by racing in the final round while riding with a still injured leg. He finished the championship in second place conceding only in the final race of the season.

Jeffrey Herlings: “I’ve now had five seasons with KTM and I’m very happy that Pit (Beirer) is giving me a chance to stay with the team for another three years. The team has done a great job and I hope we can continue with good news and good wins in the future.”

Pit Beirer, Head of KTM Motorsport: “We are very pleased to have reached agreement with Jeffrey to ride for the factory team through to the end of 2017. Anyone who is a follower of the sport recognizes that he is a rider of passion and exceptional skill and we are very proud that he will be on our bikes and in our factory team in the coming seasons.”
Well, that stops the Honda rumor !

Wasn't it JH that threatened to go to America if they made him move up? I thought it was him and not ktm that wanted to stay in the small bore class?

I honestly don't see why he wouldn't want to go MX1 this season. You can always feed me the "KTM's call, not his" line, but let's be honest with ourselves here. If he wanted to be in MX1 this season, he would be. We'll have to wait and see. I hope he does, and like I've said, he's at a point in his career where the only thing that will make him better is better competition.

You need to get your facts strait.

Herlings himself said that if they " Forced him to move up "......he would quit and look for a ride in the states. He said he wasn't ready for MX1 just yet and wanted another year in MX2. And now that RV is in MX1.......he made a wise fucking choice.

OH....and before you say...." That was last year "..........have you heard one peep from Herlings that he " wanted " to move up? Of course not.....he's waiting for AC to retire.....because in a full series AC would of handed Herlings his ass.

You could be possibly right on that Burn. It's really cool to see RV going over there and doing the GP's......but I always wanted to see if JH84 was ever going to step up to the plate and try for a championship against AC222. I think AC would of relished it but it never happened. If JH84 would of ever stepped up to the big bike class.....I think we would of saw and whole other AC over there. He seems to only go as fast as he needs to , to win or stay in the points chase.

I don't know what the hell it is I have against Herlings......just never liked him. AC on the other hand , ....I dig everything about that guy!

MX1 salary plus ditto bonus while riding MX2, advising him to leave it would be "killing the goose that laid the golden eggs"

Really.....then why did JH threaten to leave the GP scene and head to the USA? Why do you think GL to changed the rules so JH could stay in the MX2 class? Did you see the twitter , instagram , or whatever it was?

Like I said.....your facts are wrong. They are not forcing him to stay down there....he wanted it. " Maybe " KTM wants him to stay........but he , nor GL wanted him to. It's why the rule changed.
