It's gnarly how much we (mostly driven by sports media) invest in these records. Glad he doesn't feel compelled to chase it though.

I stopped reading the comments on Racerx a looong time ago. This is the reason. Why even bother. Same way on the top riders instagram and twitter. The amount of hate Roczen is getting is ridiculous.

That 'Shane michael' guy is a stupid bastard. He's either 14 years old, or a sub-literate Mongoloid. This sport is unfortunately eaten up with those kind of embarrassingly immature "fans". I bet that dumbass had a hard time keeping his flat-billed hat from falling off his stupid head while he typed out that horseshit.

RV has shown over the past few years that he's pretty shrewd about what he puts out??,sure he probably could've made A1,previous MXdN and the last Outdoors but he's often pretty guarded,I wonder when this GP deal was actually done??

This. I am really surprised at all the comments about how fast this looks. This looks rather sedate and careful for RV. He can go a lot faster. Looks like some safe laps to get back in the swing of things to me.

I really hope we get to see the 2013 Villopoto over there. I know it's going to be tough to adjust and Cairoli is amazing, but I honestly don't think anyone can beat the 2013 Villopoto throughout an entire MX series. It will be great to watch that's for sure. I think he'll raise the bar for everyone.

If RV can get comfortable they won't know what to do with his speed. He will kick the crap outta them over there.
I don't disagree but it's probably not the speed, obviously the GP guys are ridiculously fast too, it's the intensity.

RV rides like RC. Balls out all the time. Start to finish. Every lap. Every moto. All season long. It'll be hard to match.

That's kind of what I'm thinking. As far as fastest lap goes, he might not always get that. When he puts together 5-10 laps in a row within a second of his fastest lap though, I don't think they'll be ready for it. I can definitely see some races where he gets a good start and checks out while other guys are still settling in. They're great riders obviously, but having not raced Villopoto for an entire season, I think he'll catch them off guard even if they know what to expect. Villopoto said they may surprise him with some things too, but I can't imagine what any GP riders could catch him off guard with.

GP tracks are (kind of) a mix between our SX and MX. I'm thinking this gives Villopoto a huge advantage as well. He'll be by far the best SX rider on the track, which will come into play quite a bit throughout the season.

WTF are you talking about? GP tracks are MORE like a SX track than an AMA National MX track? The primary characteristics of SX tracks that require the "SX" skill set are the following:
*Steep jump faces
*Short landing zones / Very unforgiving landings
*Tight spaced hard whoops
*Very short landing to jump transitions
*Low speeds

I think you are very confused because the GPs have a big finish line jump where guys get high in the air in front of a Monster banner. That is about all they have in common. GP tracks are the exact opposite in pretty much every facet....
*Shallower jump faces...faster take offs
*Very long landing zones. You see guys OJ all the time in the GPs and just land flat pinned
*'Waves' in them GPs are nothing like SX whoops..very wide spaced
*When see a jump landing right into a jump face in the GPs, they are gradual rollers...not peaky rythm sections. Much different flow.
*FAST

Im intruiged to see how he handles the bumps... after the Nations all the riders always say that the track was gnarly and nothing like back home , yet i thought Kegums was fairly moderate after our post race track walk, Teuschenthal was typical of what a track gets like week in week out.

I have no doubt he has the speed , but GP tracks aren't flat out wide open like AMA, and the 2 day format means he will have to deal with stuff he aint used to.

St Jean MXoN was probably the the least bumpy track for ages , and he didnt look any better than any of the top euro guys there.

I think that's more a reflection of the riders riding all weekend and maybe the AMA guys being more tired than they are usually... and really Kegums wasn't rough. Teuschental was notchy but not particularly rough, but like Lommel the year before, a track surface that the US guys don't see as much anymore...

The nationals are plenty rough and easily same as the GPs... Unadilla, Red bud, Washougal to name a few were all horribly rough but definitely don't have the riders on track as much as GPs

Definitely the surfaces differ more but regardless I don't think RV gives a shit about much of anything. He'll be fine.

i think he will be in the leading pack all season but he won't walk away from everyone with ease like some people on here are suggesting. I think cairoli will win the championship- but i'm expecting wins from RV, desalle, paulin, nagl. Won't be at all surprised if we see the odd win from JVH, strijbos, big ken, tommy or simpson either!

how good is mx1 going to be in 2015?!!! still hoping that we see jeffrey in there too, but i think that might just be a couple of rounds later in the season

i don't think RV will have much trouble adapting to the tracks- but i do think that we won't see the same intensity from him at some of the tracks (as we have in the ama champs). He will still be competetive but may have to adapt to a more 'euro' style- when in rome as they say!!

its really cool to see RV racing over here- i think its going to be a very enjoyable experience for him, fresh start- seeing lots of different countries and tracks he's never been to before.

I think you're on point with everything above. So excited for next season. There's seriously about 10 guys battling for the podium. Hope everyone stays healthy. It will come down to starts. Both Cairoli and RV are among the best in the world at getting a good start, so is Nagl and Strijbos. And both Cairoli and RV are well known for hunting down the leader after a bad start or a crash. Every weekend will be a nailbiter.

i think paulin will be a championship contender (not just the odd race win) - thats assuming he gels with the factory honda, and assuming he can stay fully fit all year! I think he is well over due a world title- it may be a difficult year to get one though!!!!!!!

Honestly, I'm close to writing off Desalle and Paulin as title threats. Although they are more than capable and could prove me wrong any year, they haven't shown that they have the consistency to challenge for a world title yet.

Fingers crossed they put all the pieces of the puzzle together in '15!

That might be just what they need, someone else to challenge Cairoli. But the point loss will be larger with two dominant riders. A third all season won't be easy and won't win you a championship.

I've been waiting for Desalle to put in a complete strong season for a while now. Since Paulins ride in Fermo I've been waiting for real championship challenge.

That's actually a great point. Having Villopoto there will take some of the pressure and spotlight off of them, which may be a situation that they thrive in. But it doesn't seem like that would bother either of them, so I doubt it'll transform them into a title contender.

There is no way Desalle and Paulin can put together race in race out consistent results. They will have their flashes of brillance like always but now instead of only worrying about AC now you have a guy as fast or faster then AC and will win or be on the box every single race. Thats how you win championships and AC and RV know a thing or two about that. Pus those guys can cut through a pack like nothing, and throw in there is on average 20 guys for a MX1 race lappers arent as a big of a deal and the starts are less hectic in the GP's.

i think alot depends on how well paulin can adapt to the factory honda! he's looked really good later in the season on the kawi this year (his ride at the des nations was about as flawless as it gets)

- desalle im not too sure about. He looked like he could be a championship threat a few years ago. Same with frossard- people were talking about him as a championship contender a couple of years ago too!!

You might be right, but hopefully not! It would be great if both these guys could contend for the title- Nagl is another one! VERY very good on his day, seems to have terrible luck with injuries. Van hoerbeek seems to have the championship caliber consistency but was just a touch off cairolis pace for most of this season.

whatever happens im sure we are all in for a treat in 2015. Great year to be a moto fan!

I agree with most of what you said there, Max Nagl is unstoppable on his day, but those days are few and far between. Van Horebeek made a huge step up in the off-season, so if he can do that again he may be more of a threat for the top step.

Frossard was so good when he first got on the 450F His raw speed was incredible and he seemed to have a ton of potential - that has been lost in those injuries though. He'll have some good days in '15, but I see him around sixth a lot of the time.

look at how many big bike outdoor seasons he missed due to injury.2009, 2010, 2012 and 2014. that's a lot of wins to give up. especially in 2009, 2010

how good is mx1 going to be in 2015?!!! still hoping that we see jeffrey in there too, but i think that might just be a couple of rounds later in the season

i don't think RV will have much trouble adapting to the tracks- but i do think that we won't see the same intensity from him at some of the tracks (as we have in the ama champs). He will still be competetive but may have to adapt to a more 'euro' style- when in rome as they say!!

its really cool to see RV racing over here- i think its going to be a very enjoyable experience for him, fresh start- seeing lots of different countries and tracks he's never been to before.
If the 2013 Villopoto shows up and if Cairoli and Villopoto don't get injured, I'm saying there will only be one overall not won by one of those two riders and five or less moto wins for the rest of the pack to battle for.

I think that's a pretty good opinion right there. I'd almost go as far as saying that if AC and RV both come into the season AND stay healthy all season........there may very well NOT be another winner besides those two. BUT....GP21 , VanHorbeck , CD25 , Nagl and Strijbos22 could all have some brilliant motos.

Does anyone know where Frossard is going for 2015? He's always been one of my favorites , but I haven't read anything on where he might be going.
