I cant wait to see Mike at Riverglade and hopefully get a pic with him and his autograph, seems like a great guy and a good rider. That is, if Tony will let me without having to sign anything...

Any formal training in journalism would tell you that objectivity is priority uno. Lose that and ur not a journalist anymore. Matthews has shown time and time again his penchant for agendas with riders. How anyone can take it seriously is beyond me.

But that is how low the bar is set in this sport. If any of this sports media actually dug deep and reported its dark secrets then they'd be shunned, likely fired, and most likely bashed by most fans for spitting the truth. Ultimately we as fans are to blame. We dont want the truth. And so this TMZ type bullshit is instead considered "insider info".
Whether or not his style conforms to your view of what journalism is or should be is irrelevant. Matthes does report on MX news and events, and does offer opinions.

Do really think that Tony's act of presenting a ludicrous, almost comical, contract to a member of the media would not get reported in some form? Do you really think the Tony could not have reasonably foreseen some kind of action like this?

Jorddo, you will find the Alessis to be one of the nicest and welcoming teams in the pits. Despite all of the drama they are a family that loves racing and if you get the chance to talk to Mike you will find him to be extremely polite and friendly. Even Tony will treat you well.....as long as you don't bring Mathis.....Matthes....matthises....oh fuck it....Steve M under the tent

I totally agree. I just wish Tony could find a way to keep from continually stepping on his dick. He is single minded in his support for the boys but blind about public perception. He needs a handler. Wish there was someone he trusted and would LISTEN to.

Tony just brings this all back on himself. He could of easily told Steve hey no interviews today and Steve would have probably listened. But then he hands him a completely unprofessional contract which has his last name spelled wrong. I'm not complaining the Alessi family comes up with some crazy stuff and its pretty funny.

I will let others gossip about riders marital situations but I respect the riders too much to get into their personal business. I also think this National Enquirer stuff demeans the sport. I feel the same way about Lurch's screaming and am seriously bummed he's been at the Nationals. He's a great announcer but that screaming at the starts has got to go. Lurch has never raced I bet otherwise he would know you don't have to breathe or do anything to make the starts one of the most bitchin moments in all of motorsports.

I agree with you wholeheartedly my opinion carries no more or less weight than anybody's.
