The guy had a brain fart in battle, and he made a bad choice. He got caught, and penalized for it. There's a rule in the book, stating the penalty for said offence. How is it "controversial"?
As far as anyone crowing about how the "second rate series" got no attention before Alessi arrived, perhaps you could explain why, specifically, I or any other Canadian, should give a SHIT whether an American tunes in now? Do you really believe that makes any difference? Amazing how some of you fucking dickwads get your panties in a knot over the stupidest shit. The controversial part (going from what I've heard is the issue from their camp, but obviously haven't talked to him) is that he blew the turn and tried to negate the advantage by waiting for the pack to catch up. They feel there should be no penalty as there was no advantage gained (a la Nico Rosberg). So they're pissed because they feel he did the right thing and still got docked.

I assume the rule is the same as the US and you have to get back on as soon as possible, but really seems like splitting hairs, it's not like he was doing it every lap to save energy or something.

Once you've come to a halt, back up, and have them help you take a second run at it. When the next flat billin, skateboard, baggy pants wearin 13 year old pimple faced loser walks by and says "Duuuuuude, what's that stickin out of your mouth?", that'll be far enough. While I realize that that is not the manufacturers intended purpose for that product, I'm sure they'll get over it. I wouldn't worry about a team of lawyers showing up at your front door tomorrow morning. Perhaps FTE could chime in here, just to clarify.

No advantage gained? He blew the corner and was off the racing surface, so he cuts a section of track and waits for the field to show up....that is an advantage. if he fell over when he blew the corner, could he have cut a bigger section of track and still pulled back into the lead? I am pretty sure the whole point of this game is to ride around on the track, and travel the same distance as all the other competitors.

using his way of thinking as long as he holeshots, he can pull off and pull back on in front at the finish line....no advantage, he was in first when he went off the track so he pulled back on in first.

Agreed! They should have to re-enter the track at the same place they left it. The USA should really have this rule too to keep things fair. If you go off the track it should have consequence, it's not fair that you can just re-enter further up and resume your position in line.

After over-jumping the finish line while leading the first lap of the 1st moto, #800 Smartop Moto Concepts rider, Mike Alessi, went straight, waited for the riders to catch up and then went out on the track after missing a section. He won the moto but was docked 5 positions for his infraction. Facciotti roosted him at the end of the moto after the finish line but then apologized on the stage later. 6-2 gave Alessi 3rd overall.

I got a parking ticket in Vancouver back in June of 1997, with my rental car from Washington state, I never paid it. What is the "statute of limitations" up there?

I've seen some real assholes through the years of Motodrive and most recently our beloved VItal, but you take the cake for being the biggest asshole of them all. Not just the typical douchebaggery that most of us partake in every once in awhile, but every damn day you're full of piss and vinegar. The wife cheat on you, your kids hate you, your dogs ran away?
