This one isn't a good moment, but it is pretty famous. It was moments before Doug Henry had his horrific accident. I could never tell what happened to him. I thought I read that he said he just brain-farted and forgot about the drop. Did anyone hear different?

throttle cable got stuck open is what i remember reading in mc's biography wide pen.

all those pld pics of Hannah, Barnett, and Glover and those guys are great. thats when factory bikes were really trick. not just a tricked out production bike.

Kehoe didn't crash (amazingly enough) but he did beat McGrath in this 125 moto at Gainesville in 93. Fran Kuhn (editor of Inside Motocross) took my film back to California to be processed and then called me later that week to tell me about my killer finish-line photo they were using as the opening spread. I thought he was kidding at first, he couldn't mean the photo I had shot from half way across the track.

from what i've heard he landed on the backside of a sand whoop and the landing wasn't all that bad and he didn't crash.

Kehoe didn't crash (amazingly enough) but he did beat McGrath in this 125 moto at Gainesville in 93. It was a pretty awesome moto and I wasn't watching the lap boards so when I saw the white flag come out I was on the wrong side of the quarry to get a shot right at the finish-line so I got a spot where could at least shoot it.

Thanks for the info, I have good memories of Gainseville even though I never attended a race there in person. That used to be one of my favorite rounds to watch on TV. RJ had his last great race there, I remember him and Stanton I think it was had a kick ass moto long battle around that same year.

Yea that is awesome. I brought that up on the DMXS chat not long ago. I have come off of there many times a lot faster than I wanted to and the landings were nasty. I could not imagine launching that far and landing in the braking bumps before the corner. He luckily caught on to a whoop and it helped a lot.. I wish that track was back on the series again. It has been tamed down a bit but it is still a true test to the best. They brought in a bunch of sand to mix with the clay which helped out the blue groove. The knee deep ledged out holes are not as bad anymore. We always said it was like running into concrete knee high ledges every ten feet on the whole track. That place has always been hardcore.

If I had one to pick, which is pretty much impossible, my favorite would be one that ran as a color cover on CN after the 1978 Motocross des nations, in germany I think, that was shot across from a downhill coming out of one of the first few turns as it swept around a large tree. Mikkola was on a white OW Yamaha and Hannah on a Yellow one leading the pack down across the hill. There's a black and white shot in the old Lackey training book from the same time and perspective. It's a really cool shot that displayed motocross at its best. I'd kill for a poster of that shot.

There was a shot in MXA's MotoCross Champions of 1976 of Kent Howerton on a Husky dragging his clutch lever in a berm, also one of Marty Smith in the same issue dragging the clutch lever. Damn sexy.
