Hard to replace Emig for sure and never have been a fan of GL regardless of how articulate he is after Hangtown and a rookie Bobby Bonds getting taken out with one of the most "chickenshit" moves I ever saw get pulled on by another rider. Don't have a good memory but prbly never forget that one...damnt!!

Really?

Does he? I mean he is open that he's tight with them and has done some ads but I would hardly say he's deep throating them on air.

This sport is filled with so much fuckin haterade sometimes.

Langston sounds like such a fag when announcing.

Negative? But maybe that's why they replaced Emig with him to appeal to the "new" mx demographic.

That's not a negative opinion that's just being a dick. Intelligent people know the difference.

I am shocked, Emig was really becoming a great "play by play" announcer.

If it was just that Emig wanted too much money, so they looked for other options, that is business.

But if they think they traded up by getting Langston- they made a bad trade. Not saying he can't grow into the position, but from what I have seen on AX he is not on the same level (yet).

Your avatar is disturbing.

Even worse than peelout.

I will probably have nightmares about that image.

I grew up watching the canadian series, having never watched the american series till last year. I used to love the canadian guys. They get so into it and are pretty informative as well. Im not as much a fan anymore though

Seems to me that Grant has been taking the opportunity seriously enough to put in the effort needed for a good broadcast. One difference that will help will be being at the track (granted in the production trailer) rather than what appears to be doing a broadcast in post. I'd like to hear more fire and passion, edge of your seat calls.

Oh and just let Georgia loose with the mic and camera to get more behind the scenes vingettes. That's all.

GL was the only foreign rider I ever pulled for.

I went to budds creek in 2012 for the national and GL was calling the race over the loud speaker. Although tough to hear with 40 4-strokes on the track, he did a decent job.

The answer is very simple regarding Emig...... Fox Sports or NBC Sports Network....Competing Networks
That eliminates Emig from an outdoor announcing opportunity, unless he didn't care about being eligible to do SX again next year..
Sorry...really just that simple.

Jeff Emig does a fantastic job and he's one of my best friends in motocross -- we watched the OJ Simpson chase in his garage in Riverside twenty years ago! But he works for Fox Sports 1 and CBS now, and our series is an NBC property. so we had to go a different direction, and I think Grant will do fantastic as well. And Weege and Georgia are exceptional moto experts and very entertaining so it will be fun to watch together all summer long.

Thanks for setting everyone straight, again, DC! Nice to know what's actually happening instead of what everyone thinks is for a change!

Dang! I love listening to Fro. Tough shoes to fill. Hopefully Langston will hold his own. You should just have weege play both roles though. He does an awesome MXGP announcer impression. But it really doesn't matter as long as the beautiful Georgiar Lindsay gets plenty of air time!

Doesn't Grant also work for Fox Sports 1 with Arenacross on TV?

I'm disappointed Emig isn't going to be in the booth anymore.

Me personally....I think Georgia was the best pit reporter I've ever seen. Her character and on the fly type comments and questions were awesome. She " KNOWS " MX! Beautiful gal as well......but she aint just a pretty sight , she knew this sport very well.

Guys, Jeff Emig was in my wedding party, and he was one of my dad's favorite riders. He would be there if he could but he had to choose a network, and the best fit for him was working with Ralph and the gang at Fox Sports and CBS on Supercross. Our next-in-line was Grant and I know he will do a great job with Weege and Georgia. New voices are always fun in a sport like ours!

I never get all this announcer talk. Do you guys really pay that much attention to them? My favorite announcers were when Alli Sports would leave the race going during the TV commercial breaks and all you heard were the bikes. That was refreshing. Other than that I like a monotone Brit. The less I hear people yakking the better, less = more in my book.

The thing is....90% of the people who watch it don't fully understand it and need ito be a step by step analysis type show. Some are more knowledgeable than others , some are better to look at and their voices aren't like fingernails running down a chalk board.

Thanks, DC. Good to know it was a network loyalty deal. I appreciate Fro in the SX box as much as I did announcing the outdoors. I believe Langston & Albertson will be a great team if that's the dealio.
