While this is true, and does happen, is isnt true. Its true they get rid of the little bike after 3 months but its not near true you need a 250f to be a competitive rider. I know a guy who ordered a 14 150SX the week they announced the 14's and then a few months back got a 14 Husky 250f because he wanted to win. I'll attach a video below that proves that you dont need a 125 to beat a 250f. **SPOILER**: Its a supermini beating a 450 Wink

That video got really good as soon as he passed that John Deere and all we could here was 2 stroke music!

So if JS7 was on a factory 250 2 stroke could he win one? I say yes.

Chad Reed also.

JS rode one not too long ago when at JGR and said it was a lot of fun but also that he was surprised by how slow it was. If James Stewart, the master of 2 stroke, says 2 stroke is slow compared to a 4 stroke, I can't see anybody win on it in a pro class...

Wow, what a difference a decade makes. Amazing how much better the ten year old bike looks than the current pile of shit offered. That 125 looks like a race bike, the new turd looks like a fat chic in a g string.

I agree. The 125 class is needed in MX, no ifs ands or buts about it. But the 125 is missed among non racers also. My son (13) and I both ride 125's on our backyard tracks. Not only are they the perfect size, but they are inexpensive to own and maintain compared to 250 four strokes. The entire sport of "dirt biking" needs the 125 and the more choices, the better.

I truly think we will eventually see the oil-injected two stroke take over at some point.

A JGR or Factory built 250 2 stroke would be a helluva lot faster than the ratted out bone stock yz250 he was riding in that video… it even had the stock pipe on it. Honda got 56hp out of RC's CR250 and I'm sure there is a slight disadvantage outdoors against a 450 but again a factory built one wouldnt be that far off imo and indoors SX I think a factory 250 2 stroke could do just fine, they were beating 450's through the 06 season and the 450's havent gotten any faster just a little more refined so yes with the right rider and a factory 250 2 stroke it could win in the 450 class in SX. There are a lot of advantages a 250 2 stroke would have indoors… lines, weight, flickable etc…

People chronicly disabled them in the past on various machinery. They'd have to come up with a very good system to make it sell.

you can only speculated as to where a modern (all manufactures in) 2st 250 would be today

Here's what Kawi should do. Release a kx300 two stroke and threaten the AMA by saying they will pull out of racing if the rules are not changed in order for them to be able to race it, as well as release a 250 and force the AMA to let them run it in the 250 class. It will never happen, but it would be funny to see the roles reverse a bit.

If they did produce another KX 125 sticking with the steel frame would be the way to go.

Kawasaki isn't even making any of it's up and coming riders in the AM ranks ride a 125 in Schoolboy 1 anymore, they haven't for more than a couple years. why in the world would they bring it back?

I'm not hating on the smokers, I love the sound of a screaming 125 as much as anyone. the simple matter of the fact is the schoolboy 1 class at LL has really dropped off and personally I'll be surprised if it lasts more than a couple more years without some modification. locally it remains an ok class but not near the competition as just 2 years ago. the 125 (no age limit) class is still a pretty big class but it's really more just a few guys having fun. there's nothing wrong with that but...most of these guys aren't going to be lining up to buy a new 125

With that silencer, that 125 probably sounds more like a PW50.

Surely one or two of the Japanese manufactures are going to get fed up with loosing market share to KTM soon enough and realize if they don't start countering KTM's massive hold in the junior ranks things are only going to get worse.

And they will get worse soon with Husqvarna coming back to the party. There is going to be a lot of Orange mixed in with White in the junior ranks soon enough, which in years to come will continue to flow into the bigger bikes as the riders stay with the manufactures they grew up with.

Do you think Yamaha would have been impressed if he said otherwise? Just sayin.
