Here are the latest pictures of the Motocross des Nations track:

All those wood chippings will be worked into the soil to make it a little more loamy (it was pretty much hardpack before) and the weather forecast suggests sun for the next week or so USA will have no excuses for not winning! Tongue

As they're all Kawasaki riders Molson (the Kawasaki GP works team) has kindly offered their set up to the USA team. Makes sense to me, better than being made to work out of the back of a hire vans like certain GP riders were last year.

There'll be none of that. If anything the wood chippings should help your lot even more!

Where are the double and triple jumps? Looks like nothing but boring table tops. How can they call that a supercross track?
(It certainly does not look like a world class outdoor motocross track)

Gotta say, the pictures don't make it clear, but it doesn't look massively different from the GP last year or Brit MX round this year... Sad

I'm prepared (nay - hope) to be mistaken, though. Smile

Why wood chips??????? They don't have decent dirt or sand in GB that could be brought in?

the track isn't massively different.... there are more off-camber turns and there is that roller-tabletop section in the back.... but other than that, the general gist is the same

Guess you've been up to have a look, chap - how far back are the fences...?

(Prays to the sweet baby Jesus that it's not very far! Smile )

Team Monster... (I mean USA) could have had banners and vinyl printed and rolled up to ship with the bikes to put on any loaned pit space or rig... so to whom this may concern "shame on you guys"... that said... GO USA!

well all those pics were taken by me so......... Wink

the fences are closer in a lot more places, but it's still not exactly how i would want it.... i still think they should have stuff at the bottom of the track (where the pits were at the Brits) and also have a grandstand above the start-straight

still, the grandstands and the fence positions are a definite improvement for spectating, even if they have plonked the Red Bull VIP area right on the big tabletop area

You set up for the weekend already?!?!? Tongue Fair play, should love to have a look round while it's nice and quiet.

Glad to hear they've moved some of the fences closer, at least. I heard a rumour that they've got rid of the whoops at the bottom of the track, by the Brit pits - how does it look?

That's a sod about putting the VIP area there - that was one of the cool things about the first Brit meeting there, i reckoned, getting the view from there. Sad

Dude someone should step up and tell all the residents in GBR... what comes to mind when you guys say "yanks" "that's what we say when we don't have a girlfriend" lol... but you guys keep saying it... why is that?

Most likely because there were about ten thousand people beseiging the Americans all weekend... I went to Weston the year Travis went, Stefan was the one running aorund with his rock star shades on and cap over his eyes, whilst Travis wandered through the crowds shaking hands with anyone who recognised him. In my limited experience, American sports stars have always been a lot better at dealing with the public than European (Travis, Colin Edwards, Nicky Hayden Vs Stefan, Max Biaggi, Marco Melandri, etc).

Damn I sure am glad I went to Budds Creek last yr. That track is not Moto D worthy imo.

Next yr Italy, that's one I'd like to see.

Now i know why the Americans are gonna win!
I mean... the advantages those double fences give the American team at this event are just unreal. I heard pitting in a double fenced area is a big advantage for getting better starts and and shaving off a few seconds a lap.
It's just not fair is it ?

What is the deal with the HUGE woodchips? I can see using sawdust or mulch but the chips in the photos look like the stuff that comes out of an industrial size tree shredder/stump grinder.

Someone tell team USA to prep the bikes with the mud race foam on the brake and shift levers to keep those woodchips from jamming things up. I dowloaded a torrent of the Irish GP to check out Zack's moto win and the announcer kept talking about someone in qualifying who got a big chunk of woodchip stuck in the rear brake pedal which jammed it on. They had to cut the brake line to release the pressure so the wheel would trun again. We dont need any wood chip induced DNF's.

Hell, team USA should haev went to my local track, Last weekend was the first time in ages they didn't saturate it with woodchips. They love using woodchips so much that they put 'em on burgers.
