Hello,

First of all great racing this weekend in GP of trentino, MX2 boys are showing more speed herlings is saying it himself.
Guillod, seewer, ferrandis, tonkov, gajser are the future. But what you guys think of the age rule limit of 23 in MX2? many riders need to move up in 2015 butron, tonus, coldenhoff, charlier, lupino, stykes, fevbre is it fair? should the age limit be abolished or pushed up to 25/26? How many MXGP teams are available to sign these riders? some of the older MXGP riders might be pushed out. its very delicate situation some will win and some will loose. whats your take?

Don't care for the age rule, and it will drive down rider compensation for all but the top couple guys, simply from supply and demand, if the rule generates a glut of 450 rider options for the limited number of qualified 450 teams.

I'm not a fan of a one-way path through the sport, with a cliff at the end.

I think the age rule isn't good for the sport.I would prefer that the champion of the mx2 can defend his title the following year and has to step up to the MXGP.The best riders have to compete in the premium class.

I can find 10 reasons why this age limit needs to be removed or pushed to 25.

I can not find any good reason to keep it. What is youthstream motivation to keep it this way ?

Yeah, that was pretty dreadful to be honest.

Anyway, GuyB said it. It's a one way path with a cliff at the end. You force riders who might not even have reached their full potential on the smaller bike yet into the premiere class (where there are less spots on the gate, to boot)… Why!? I can see why they might want to bump up champions but a rider who perhaps only cracked into the top10 once or twice? That poor guy will have to kiss his GP dreams goodbye for good.

At least the AMA Nationals always has room for another talent-transplant. Smile

Drop the age rule and bump up the fast guys with a points system.

X2. Also 3 mx2 championships and you need to move up regardless of age .

so true, you only have one option and that is to go MX1 (where the amount of seats is limited) and if you haven't won a single race then you're going to have a difficult time. They could go to America but Supercross is really hard as well.

I believe out of the group moving up tonus and coldenhoff have rides for mxgp class, the rest dont. Stykes probably will end up going back to AUS and fevbre has a better shot getting on a decent team than butron and charleir do.

Personally, I'd like to see no limits on MX2/250F or MXGP/450 classes. You want to race either class for 15 years, go ahead.

Particularly in GP racing where the idea of getting rid of the 450's seems to have some popularity- why demean the 250F's now? That makes no sense.

Wow that was really really hard to read....it's almost as if Luongo wrote it himself...I surly don't miss Geoff at all. With that said if the GP's want to keep the momentum going they need to get rid of the age limit.

This is the way to go if you are going to change it. Works pretty well here in the states.

If the MXGP class had a full gate I doubt the rule would have ever been created. It looks bad when you barely have 20 guys on the line for the premier class. I think the age rule was intended to force riders to move up and help fill the gate.

I think it's been Luongo's agenda all along to undermine the 250 class to make the 450 class the "F1" of motocross. By not paying the riders anything he makes sure that most of the 24 year- old riders have no chance for a 450 ride. And this is totally fine for Luongo, since he seem to think that more than 20 riders on the gate is too much.

Tonus doesn't have a 450 yet... as of a few days before the Trentino GP

"The GP riders are clearly the fastest in the World and at the moment not just like a little bit. " Is Geoff really this delusional? He needs professional help.

Geoff is a clown and he is overstating it but the gp guys do have the upper hand right now.
