are the ends of them more durable than normal grips? i dont mind paying more for a set of these if they will last longer than normal grips. I tend to tear the end of my grips before actually wearing them out with nomal grips (from crashing) - are the emig grips better for not being damaged in a crash? or are the ends replaceable? made out of harder material than the rest of the grip?
The end material appears to be the same as the grip itself but is very durable. I use them on all of my bikes and they have survived numerous crashes and still look great. Honestly I thought these grips were a novelty at first but I am really impressed by how well they hold up. Note on installation: you will need to get pretty aggressive with the amount of knurling you grind off the clutch end of the bar. The only issue I had with the end cap came from using a mallet to "assist" with installation of my first set because I didn't grind enough material off.

Highly recommended.

you don't need lock on grips. A little hair spray will do just fine

Man I put some good ole Oury's on my mountain bike and nothing has ever compared to them, so comfortable I quit wearing gloves.

I ran the ODI Lock Ons on my old BMX bikes. absolutely loved them. They held up really well, and had a great feel to them. I used the "rogue" grips which had a bit larger diameter than any other grips. which worked well for me because sometimes I would have to pry my hands off the bars with thinner grips.

I got a set that i won on here in the 12 days of Christmas contest. I cant speak to the durability of them because i only have a few rides on them on the ice. But the sure are nice to mount up. Clutch side locks on rock solid instantly. Throttle side is pre glued to a new throttle tube and it comes with 2 different ends to fit multiple bikes. The only thing bad i got to say about them is they are listed as not fitting the new ktm 4 strokes 11-14 but if figured what did it hurt to try and sure enough they do fit. I could see these as a huge advantage you now could change grips at the races without having to wait for glue to dry. Very solid product!

Thanks for all of your comments on the grip. Let me try to answer some of your questions.

My grips is part of the V-2 Lock On system that ODI Grips developed. I approached them about doing a grip and Kevin at ODI encouraged me to try the V-2 half waffle. I loved it and thought the system had a lot of potential. So we set out to design my grip and I am very happy with the final product.

We intentionally made the main "body" of the grip a bigger diameter than the half waffle, and in turn we made a custom 1/3 waffle pattern with a little less height. So it should feels and measures out about the same.

The EMIG grip is a 3 color/ dual compound grip. The flange, waffle and end cap are medium, which adds rigidity, structure and strength. While the main body of the grip is a soft compound for comfort and traction.

They are made for use with bark busters, too.

Installation is a snap, each side has the rubber molded to a tube, so there is no need for glue, paint, hair spray or safety wire. The clutch side has a patented system with an aluminum clamp/3mm bolt that attaches to the tube/grip.

The throttle side is a universal tube/grip and comes with multiple cable cams to fit different bikes. 10 in all.

The 4-stroke kit comes with cams to fit every late model MX bike, including one for the new Yamaha 250/450. The 2-stroke kit comes with a Honda cam and one that fits the other brands.

There are 5 additions cams to fit various applications, available for around $4. ODI has a chart for fitment and each cam is lettered.

When you combine the cost of an average grip being $15, glue for $7.50 and a plastic throttle tube around $12 you spend around $35. The V-2 retails for $24.95, each model.

I hope this helps you make your choice when buying a new pair of grips...

I got a set mounted onto my bike:

Only have one ride on them so-far
And my initial reaction is that i like them!
Easy to install and great concept

Some feedback:
On first ride, my left side grip rotated a little bit, after tightening down the bolt some more, all was good
Left side grip does feel a little bit thicker but actually like it
Grip compound is the only thing i need to get used too. Feels hard on the hands (especially since i have been running the ODI white LE soft grip previously)
Grip is very durable, was able to lean bike over on left side on stand for washing without any issues

I don"t have the Emig ones. I have some cheap looking Moose ones. I also have bark busters. I will never go back to glued on grips. When you cut the grip for the bark busters it lets water in the ends of the grip which eventually makes them spin no matter what glue I used. I also personally liked the slightly thicker grip. If I give up the woods and go full mx again I'll still use bolt on grips.

This is what I like to think the board meetings are like in the office.

Been running them for a few weeks now. Really impressed, don't ever want to go back to wiring/sticking and having them move the whole time

I bought a pair and have used them three times now. I thought they were a little hard when I put them on compared to the Renthal Kevlar grips I usually run but once I got riding I didn't notice it. They stay put and that's a comfort to know while you are riding. Nothing like having a grip turn while riding. The throttle tube with every grip purchase is a nice touch also.

I loved the Renthal Kevlar grips but could never get the left one to quit turning on my Renthal Fatbars. Tried everything.

My set keeps getting mud and dust on them. How do I keep that from happening?

Run some gauntlets, just have to worry about sweat though!

I put these same ones on my YZ a couple of weeks ago. Love 'em! I didn't even notice that the clutch side was the same size as the throttle side, but when I thought about it, I liked it like that. I bought mine from Rocky Mountain ATV/MC just because Jeff was kind enough to come here and tell us all about the grip. They are easy to install and do not move. After riding a few times, I checked the clamp on the clutch side and it was still tight. I love that they don't twist - they stay right where you clamp them. I'm sold and will buy another pair when the current ones wear out.

After running them for a month or so i have to say i really like them. I only wish they were ava in a bigger softer style like the tag rebound grips.

Now someone needs to make the Motion-pro Revolver throttle fit these things!
Or vice versa. Please!

I have tried them. They do everything they say they will do. However, I could not get used to the left grip being the same diameter as the right, so I put stock ones back on.
Have you tried the Boyesen Shok Out for the clutch side? Definitely helped me with my wrist issue.

Hey guys, just curious for those of you who have tried the Emig grips, did you notice any relief with arm pump/ vibration reduction? I'm about to order a pair regardless but just curious if anyone found these absorbed any more of the vibration. I just switched to a 2 stroke this season and my hands have been falling asleep while I've been riding all season.

Sorry to bump an old thread but it doesn't look like the content had fallen apart in this one yet.

I don't notice any increased vibration reduction vs regular grips, but I do like them a lot. Maybe switch to some rubber mounted clamps if your bike doesn't already have them?

I just spent a lot of time in the seat with some of his grips. I liked them. They were also one of the cleanest and easiest installs I have done with bark busters. I would recommend them.

I love them, I'm a big fan of ODI to start but I'm a mini dad and these have really reduced the cost of having fresh grips. My son rides 4 times a week and typically I was replacing a set of grips a week due to tip overs or crashes. I put my first set on and they lasted well into the second month and I replaced them so his bike would look good at Washougal.. lol not because the were beat down but they were white and green and looking a bit dirty. The pair I put on I left on, it was the FIRST grip he actually got to wear out instead of tear off. I'm stoked on the product and will be a long time customer.

I installed the Emigs with a new set of pro taper se bars and my arm pump is non-existent anymore. Before the switch I couldn't do one lap without my arms pumping up. I wish they paid me to say that but its true..
