not enough! Just my opinion.
They should add a 0 to that number (fine should be $40K)...and fine the team a huge amount (ie: $100K.). If it puts them in financial difficulty then good- the message is sent and is crystal clear to everyone in and around the sport.

What if tickles leg or hip got broken?..hell - Tickle could have broken his neck with the resulting crash - The AMA needs to decide if they want the sport filled with "bad guys and good guys" like WWE wrestling does, or if they want a legit racing series.

Fine amount aside I also agree with others that there should be a suspension and series penalties levied - ie: cannot compete in next 3 SX races, 0 points for the Atlanta race.,get a -25 point penalty on already earned points...Essentially take the rider out of the points standings. This would in line with what every professional racing organization on the planet does.

I don't like the move.

But I also don't like the fine.

A stern talking to, a probation should be enough. Let the racers race...if he does it again, toss him for the series. Don't fine anyone, though.

Never claimed to be anyone special, just another paying customer who's ridden since the 70s..

Are you defending MAs riding or just being argumentative?

He was put on one year probation about 7 months ago for his dumb-ass Brother's laser. Did the AMA forget about that or do they consider the outdoors entirely separate?

You have different refs for each series.
I dunno......................first off let me say I've met the Alessi's in the pits at HiPoint.
Never met a nicer bunch of guys.

And I don't want to see a successful series like this go the way of AMA Roadracing.

But, if the AMA issued a one year probation to Mike, 7 months ago, and they're both AMA events,
seems to me it doesn't matter who the ref was or is.

Or series, a year in AMA is a year in AMA.

Hate to say it, but if I have a rider fighting for a position in AMA SX points standings,
and Alessi is right above my guy, I'd have to file a protest to can his butt and move my team up a notch.

I'd owe it to all on my team to achieve the best finish in the series, with all the tools given to me.

I'd have to pull the fine from 7 months ago, and have a real good look at the wording on that one.

At the rate some of you are going we will have the entire class banned and on probation by the end of the series.

HMMM??? must be something with location then because the place I was at everyone that knew any thing about moto started cussing the Alessi name and the ones that didn't know anything about moto kind of gasped in disbelief!! One old guy that was there laughs and said "that number 800 don't ride to good, does he?!" Looks like he signed up for demolition derby and the other guys don't know"
my mom and sister (both who know nothing about moto) were over to watch the canada vs sweden game this morning (We won)
anyway they saw SX last night and both of them were yelling at tickle in the main to punt alessi and swearing at the tv when the crash happened

anybody who knows anything about moto thought alessi should get DQ'ed

I've been an Alessi fan forever since the amateurs-despite everything along the way and always felt for him somewhat. It's not so much one incident as it is an accumulation over the years and never seems to change. Some are what they are I guess and that's it.Too bad.
Enough of MA,go Cole Thompson ! Cool

Thanks for the link to the rulebook.

The fine sorta makes sense if the penalties only apply to the race (heat race in this case) where the infraction occurred. In this case the only choices that would actually penalize MA are a fine, point deductions or a DQ, a time or lap penalty in a heat where he already didn't transfer would be pointless. The possibility of point deductions is in the book too, I'd have felt better about the whole deal if they would have imposed a fine AND awarded no points for the night.

Bottom line IMO is that MA took a dirty ass cheap shot that absolutely could have badly injured another rider and had no chance of success for MA. So I'll make damn sure I avoid any purchase of anything sold by his sponsors. Kinda bummed about that, I like the look of JT gear, but I don't want the Alessi stink on me...

They will when no one buys the douche bags gear they promote. Bad press isn't always good press. He should have been dq'ed from the main event. The AMA is a joke, always has been.

Toomey:' pussy this pussy tha't. Your version of MX racing is for pussies like yourself? You ever watched ANY MX racing prior to the sport being sterilized for limp wrists like you? Early 70's, 80's, and maybe some 90s had what tough guys referred to as 'bar bangin'. If the 'sport' is reduced to non contact for 20 laps or 30min +2...well then you can have that pussy ass sport LOL.

Yes, Alessi's move was blatant and cheap....but pussy? As long as we are talking genitals, it was a pretty ballsy move to throw what little support was built over the years out the window to pay back a pass like that. There are other ways to take out aggression....maybe by going faster? Either way, I don't like where the 'sport' is headed with all this whining and bitching about contact during a race. Whats next Toomey, you going to go all bitch for someone getting a mouthful of roost? Lobby for smooth tires.....LMAO some of you mototalk rejects are entertaining.

It's a shame what some people have posted on his twitter and they are complete asshats for doing that, but what Mike did was wrong and typical of him. Everything that has happened to him and the criticism he receives from his doings is all earned by his and his family members actions. Mike is a perfect example of what happens when you surround yourself with all the wrong people, there is no right/wrong filter in that family. It's unfortunate because he did have the talent to be a champion, but it has been his family that has kept that from happening. It's actually very sad.

I'm all about guys doing what it takes in the right situation. I've had riders in sx and mx, I'm all for banging bars, but not because you got passed by a guy that had his shit together, so you get mad and tag him, that is weak. Larocco and Keidrowski in 94, on the same team, but they were fighting for a championship. RJ, Hannah, anyone from the era typically had a reason for roughing someone up there was something more on the line than self esteem. It was chicken shit, pussy, however you need to understand it, but ultimately it was childish, so maybe I should be more proper so you don't get offended.

I'm liking that the semi's are back and if we could just get the 125s and 250 back I'd be good. As far as everything goes, I fully agree regarding the destination of the sport, too much commercial BS, too much marketing and not enough men, but you can't do that shit at this level. Its hard enough staying healthy for a full season, you should have to worry about stuff like that. You can't ban people, and you can't start a precedent of suing people, but I am sure that's coming. To Mike's credit, he used it to turn in a good ride, but its all for not, and pretty sure a 6th only pays about $1200.

Don't be surprised if they do! Just sayin. After that massive holeshot at A1 by Mike, there was a huge thread on here about how he could be cheating. From electronic sensors in the front forks and handlebars that sense gate moving, to audio in Mike's helmet that Tony would call into as he saw gate guys foot drop. Well guess what? The very next weekend, AMA officials were tearing apart Mikes bike and helmet looking for the exact things that were being discussed in that thread.

That's when I knew for sure someone there monitors these boards.

How come that Josh Hansen had to take anger management courses and Alessi has to pay a fine that is a joke compared to what he is earning? Seems like Alessi should be doing the same thing. Honestly send the guy to a psyche ward, his mind is clearly messed up.

It's sad really.

This shows a very bad epidemic in our world now. It is called lack of respect. I am going to keep my kids off social media as long as I possibly can. People just spout off stuff with no regard because they aren't face to face.

Sure these people will still claim (online) that they would stand toe to toe and say the same thing but that is horse crap.

Yeah I don't agree with what Mike did, but if I ever catch my son(s) talking like that to someone on twitter, as punishment I will personally make my kid stand in front of that person and say it. If they think they are so bad online, they can do it to their face.

Texting / social media is going to ruin a lot of communication skills in our youth. Shit, remember how nervous we were to ask a girl out on a date? Now it will be through text. No big deal.

Sure don't agree how mike played his hand, but not sure why so many people here and social media are so angry and personally impacted by what he did....I understand why Tickle would be pissed, his team, and family....but people on this board and people in general act as if this was against them....face it this country has a lot bigger problems and people are less concerned about those....just weird....

on to the next drama, where we all can be judge and jury....

52.824 Only 3 other riders were able to beat that lap time in the Main. Alessi just seems to lack the correct physical training program to sustain these lap times.

I agree we have to move on....

And I don't want to pile on here (in fact I have previously been a bit of an Alessi apologist and was actually happy for him that he led a few laps)....

But after hearing the argument that it was just a mistake on Alessi's part, my 10 year old brought up a good point:

Did Alessi look like he was actually racing - as in trying to choose a rut and go fast through the turn?

Clearly the answer to my child's question is no.

His Dad is a knuckle head and his boys it seems have a poor example to follow. To bad for mike because he is talented and every time you think he is going in the right direction stuff like this happens. Its kind of a bummer.
Mike blew his chance when Suzuki let him go. Tony could NOT let go. He somehow thought he was smarter than Roger. I would be happy to sit on the side and watch "The Man" mold my son into a world class champ.
His best chance for a title are behind him.
