i would of guessed like a piston or a clutch..but no...it's the radiator shrouds......"jimmy grips the sides of the bike so hard with his knees that he would bend radiators braces just for him to have a sturdier gripping point in the shroud area"--gregg albertson...bet you dident know that fact.

Not an actual answer, but I remember reading Shorty say that the motor takes the most abuse when they shift up to third or fourth the corner before the whoops and have to lug it until the entrance. Super hard on the transmission and crank.

Just like NASCAR. They are done at the end of a race.

Mechanically speaking, I'd bet it's the oil.

Other than your common wear items such as grips, plastic, graphics, seat foam, chain, sprockets, tires, etc., I would think exhausts and radiators have to be near the top of the list.

This is pretty spot on, there was an interview with Factory KTM's motor guy (Ian Harrison) where he mentioned that even though Marvin Musquin is very smooth, it did not necessarily mean he wasn't hard on stuff. He actually mentioned cause of how he rode that his motor internals showed quite a bit more wear then say Ken Roczen's would, meaning his service times were more often.

the pros will normally use two sets of tires per event..one for practice, one for night show.....between privateers and factory riders, dunlop mounts about 350 tires on a race weekend.

That's an interesting tidbit. It's a miracle that any part on a pro's bike is in tact after a race let alone all of it. I guess there's very good reason that they get torn down and rebuilt after every race. I would think abuse to a bike during a Supercross race is much less than a motocross race.

I remember reading that JMB was a terror on rear brakes. He used the rear brake to effect power delivery and suspension effect. Something like that

If it's one of Chad Reed's bikes, the most abused part is typically the bike's reputation.

reed uses two sets of clutches-one for practice and qualifying and one for heat race and main-at every supercross...its not that hes hard on the clutch its just a precautionary measure.

It may be a dumb question but this thread got me thinking about their brake fluid. Would 30 minutes (give or take) of riding on the race weekend break down (no pun intended) the brake fluid at all?
