Weston has been fast all year, congrats to him and the team. This kid is what Moto is all about. He rides hard every week and seems to love being the giant killer .

Unfortunately it's tough for him to get a full factory ride when he doesn't show balls-out speed every once in a while. The factories aren't as rewarding to hard work and consistently solid results. However, Peick has a pretty good deal going on with his team over there.

WP reminds me of how Dowd came up through the ranks. He hit his peak in his higher years.

Rode so well in his heat-that was impressive. Then he backed it up in the main. Guy is on it.

Hypothetically Is there a reason that he couldn't run the RCH plastics just so he can get the RCH pay and give their sponsors a better representation? Just give peick the plastics and cover his parts tab and let him keep up with his same program?

Probably wouldn't work in reality because peick has his own sponsor contracts. Just asking what the pitfalls would be or if a team like RCH would balk at that idea.

You seem to week in and out not understand commitment? Weston has a ride, he has support, he has commitment to the people and businesses that are helping him. Sticking where he is no matter what will get him father than that grass is greener horse shit.

BTW, its factory Suzuki that makes the call on fill in or not, they said no to everyone. They would defiantly say no to a plastic swap, thats the stupidest shit i've heard in a while.

I wonder if he is being discriminated against by sponsors because he doesn't LOOK like a typical motocrosser? I mean, he weighs more than 150 pounds so maybe they overlook him? I'm not joking. It's been known to happen in many other professional sports. There's a great baseball movie about how the Oakland A's came out of nowhere by drafting guys that didn't LOOK like ball players but performed well.

agreed Jay, I am not sure a RCH ride would make Weston's results any better, with all the people and goings with them with RCH you might find it does his head in, he seems to be happy with his bikes, and is riding well, a bit more money for that team and it may be the way forward, similar to Reed, although on a smaller scale,

He needs to get a couple holeshots and change their minds if he wants that big ride!

I agree. He needs consistency to these good finishes to get the attention you guys think he deserves. He rocked last night.

I dont get the balls out speed comment earlier in this thread hasnt weston been smashing in quick lap times at every event this season on a privateer bike your not slow when your nearest competitors are rv chad js7 roczen etc all of whom are on factory bikes with large teams around them . Imo wp has a lot more potential than someone like josh grant who seems to have to ride above his comfort zone to keep up. If its a choice between the guy who is solid top ten / top five on his own bike or the guy who is blazing fast but cant stay off of the ground I know who I would pick.

Weston Peick is the very reason Id love to be independently wealthy, or have a business that could benefit from the SX exposure. Id have a race team, and get mileage out of the "Peoples Champ" mentality. Reward hard work and underdog mentality with support and decent infrastructure.

Now, saying that, I think he is getting a ton of help now from a bunch of great companies, and he is delivering. Way to go WP-40. I better go put my WP-40 shirt on.... lol

Weston is a bamf. IMO he is the story so far of 2014. Take away his bike problems and he is comfortably in the top 10 in points maybe 7th.

That's why Josh Grant always has a ride. Cause he can go bullshit fast at times and still shows it every now and again. His upside is he is a race winner, could he get there again?

Peick doesn't have that perception or reputation – He's a hard working privateer who a few years ago was struggling in rhythm sections, who undoubtedly has made massive gains, and is now better than ever, but if you pay him to ride your bike you're probably still gonna get 5th and he maybe isn't as marketable as a Grant/Weimer/Hill/Tickle, guys that have had prior success. etc.... but that's not what the factory team managers are shooting for.

It's maybe not fair either but hey. If he gets one that is great, I just wouldn't hold your breath. There is always another fast kid coming up at contract time. This year there are a few.
Nailed it.

I understand it perfectly. Josh Grant has a few great rides a year and that's why he keeps his job. But Tickle, Weimer, and Hill haven't done much at all in the past year or 2. I know that winning one race is better for sponsors than finishing 5-10th in the series and never winning. I'm just comparing him to some of these other guys that have not done anything lately at all. Hill won a race but that was years ago.

The movie is money ball. And they didn't sign/draft guys base on their looks lol. They used a formula that tracked their stats somehow differently than other teams. They basically found the best bang for their buck. They had players switch positions if they thought it would benefit them. But they certainly didn't sign/draft based on looks.

mmm... Tickle and Weimer have had a few podiums the last few years and as you say Hill won a race... Which is my point, the managers are looking at potential a lot of the time.

I don't necassarily think it's the best thing either, seems like Weston is a good dude. But I definitely think if he wants that ride he's literally gonna have to start getting holeshots and lead a few laps, maybe even get a podium before his situation drastically changes.
