CP has not raced these quick turnaround for TV moto's yet and that will magnify his trouble with recovering for the 2nd moto's.
Great talent, but has shown to lack heart and desire the last few years he has raced.
He is 4 yrs removed from racing competitively in the US....Time will tell.

someone mentioned his 2nd moto problems.. I think and I mean exactly that, I think he has problems sweating and I can tell you from experience (I don't sweat at all) that really really sucks
it's like you boil really quickly and all of a sudden and your body shuts down.. I've been too hot once and my words were getting jumbled coming out of my mouth.. scary shit!!

Yeah...everybody (including me) has bashed CP for perhaps being a little full of himself in his negotiating a ride in the US a while back. It seems as if a trip back to the GP's and his lack of real success there has mellowed him a bit. Great to see he's hooked up with a team like Valli that has the experience, connections and financing to support him. And, the bike will surely be a good one being factory and all. I'm pretty sure that, unless Baggett is healed 100% and gets his El Chuppacabra mojo back...it'll be a Musquin, Pourcel & Wilson show outdoors for 2014. It ought to be as epic as the 450's!

On another note- has there ever been a full non American podium in the nationals? I think it will happen a lot this year (if baggets wrist isn't 100%/ if he has any problems)- pourcel/musquin/Wilson will be on the box a lot, and possibly even a non American podium in the championship?!!

also- to the people that are slating pourcel in this thread:-

anyone that cant appreciate watching a rider like pourcel dissect a real motocross track like Unadilla, with his unique line choice, clinical smooth and effortless style is not a fan of the sport in my opinion. The guy is an absolute genius on a dirtbike- he has the rare ability to make riding motocross look easy. Lets hope he is back to his best, the battles he had with trey in 2010, and dungey in 09 were fantastic. When he is at his best he can (and has) run with and beat trey, RV, dungey, Barcia, tomac, cairoli,desalle etc- not many riders can say that! Cant wait to see this guy race again!

I can remember during the commentary at Unadilla one year (I think it was 09- the year that he absolutely destroyed dungey and was lapping about 3 seconds a lap faster than everyone) that david bailey was in absolute awe of pourcel- one of the best quotes ive heard regarding how you should ride a motorcycle properly from bailey during that broadcast- its not necessarily about being fast from point 'A' to point 'B' - its about being fast from point 'A' to 'B' to 'C'

if david bailey is singing your praises like that- then you are a bad dude!

Aw, why no SX for Pourcel?
Seemed like the 250f class was going to be pretty lame after this year, but it's shaping up to be one of the best ever. Pourcel is a bad dude, can't wait for a CP vs MM battle!

I agree with KTMBRO362, these young guns are going to be consistently up front as well. Really should be a awesome series with the experienced riders like Wilson, Musquin and Pourcel against the young guns. Believe me Adam C learned alot and if healthy will be up front along with J Martin, Webb, Bell,Biscelgia,Bogle and Bagget.

Sorry if was posted somewhere else, but I thought Tony Alessi and Genova said he was going to ride a 250 Honda for MCR in 2014?
Also, is the Valli team the one that Larry Brooks was going to manage (or rumors of managing)?

Who cares? Done deal with Valli. If you're talking about Mike Alessi... he was riding a 250F for some time but I'm pretty sure they confirmed he'd race 450 in 2014.

GuyB hinted that Blake Wharton is riding a Suzuki for Larry Brooks... so Larry Brooks shouldn't be involved with Valli.

I agree some of the younger guys will be fast, but they will lack the consistency of the top guys. How can you put Bell in that pack when he has done nothing but crash since starting his pro career? I believe Webb, Martin and AC will be the fastest younger guys, but I still think Pourcel has them covered. That guy is just so smooth and calculated. He's beaten the likes of Dungey and Canard, no reason he can't do it again after spending a few years out chilling and letting his body heal up more.

Roger D could dissect a track with such laser precision & incredible speed, it was pure enjoyment watching that man race. The only other guy that comes to mind that'd be remotely close is Marty Tripes. Close, but no cigar.....(w all due respect to Marty!- maybe AS smooth as Roger!)
I agree Christophe will be great for the racing & is very, very talented and smooth(what is it with the Frenchman?), I think he's probably one of the most misunderstood riders in the sport.

Glad to see Valli back in the hunt as i believe in Pourcel!! Yea its been some time for him racing but that talent is still there and if he can keep his head together he'll be a threat, just gotta keep him convinced he can do it!! Now, if Lanza would hire a competent manager and LET him do what he knows the team could be a threat...time will tell and wish them the best!!

As a CP fan, I cannot be happier. As mentionned above, I like his line choices, his style, and his confidence (so his way of considering racing, bad ass).

As a Yamaha fan, the same, I was starting to think that Yam was pulling over this market, finally they want to go again for the win.

Last but not least, it consolidates the dominanation of the AMA lites and the global interest in the AMA series. For instance I subscribed to the cable to watch the GP when CP came back, I stopped again after. Same for the AMA, I watched the SX even sometimes live so from 3am to 7.30am!, but the Nationals, in 2013, I just watched the highlights. I will watch both motos in 2014.

I think it is awesome that he is back and he has plenty of time to prepare. If he has designs on riding for a few more years, he has to make this season count otherwise it will be very difficult to get the kind of support he has been used to. If that isn't motivation, I don't know what is. And he better be ready, this class is crazy fast and talented and guys like webb, martin, AC will all be taking runs at the front besides the main players already mentioned. I hope he challenges for podiums every week end b/c that will make the racing even more insane that it figures to be already. I gotta get to Millville this year!

I'm glad he's decided to compete. He won't beat Musquin (who I think is the best bet for the title) and the rest. He'll run 6-10th if he's lucky.

I thought there had been one moto with the aussies bossing it! be cool to see a full European podium (pourcel/musquin/Wilson)

I think theres a big chance the championship will end with those 3 on the box next year. Dependant on baggets wrist obviously, but you would have to say Wilson/musquin/pourcel are the favourites given their previous experience of consistently being up there at that level. Yes, there are some quick talented young guns- but the proven front runners will always be favourite in a championship!
