I can't see the video at work, but if it's the one from Muddy Creek College Boy class from this past weekend, the guy got whiskey throttle. Forgot his name but he said he was just glad he was able to ride it out. Didn't sound like he meant to do that. I saw it on facebook last night and my jaw dropped.

That was at muddy creek this past weekend. The kids name is Paden King. He was the only one to try and lauch that jump out. The jump that the other pros were doing was the one that he landed on top of in the very begining of the video.

Video is kinda blurry.....but it looked and sounded like a newer KTM 250 SX. Is that right?

Either way.......crazy jump for sure.

No doubt they are playing their part, but I've been stating for years that the tracks are damn goofy. Local tracks that cater to 10% of the riders versus making them safe for the 90% that are paying the bills are not doing themselves any favors.

I'm not saying that is the case in the video posted above but having people jumping over others heads as other have pointed out makes for some sketchy moments.

I couldn't agree more Newmann.

Sorry OP, I didn't intend to turn this feel-good thread into a rant against the current state of amateure mx, nor did I intend to make it another 2-stroke 4-stroke debate (I ride a YZ250, BTW), however, when bobby397 said that "B" and vets were doing this jump, it struck a nerve. It also continues to justify my decision to steer my son away from competitive riding. I know I'm not the only one, either. It should speak volumes when fathers, who grew up racing, don't want to pass the legacy on to their sons.
Exactly, I couldn't agree more.

You and I have a couple of things in common DoctorJD, riding a YZ250 and steering our kids away from MX. I would have loved to have my step-son get into mx the way I did in the late 80's early 90's, but the crashes are so much more violent now then they used to be, what with 4-strokes and the way tracks have developed to suit the 4-stroke. Flat-track type highspeed stuff with huge jumps. When things go bad they get ugly.

Lucky? Looks like he didn't make the down ramp, he's lucky the ramp was miniscule. Any larger and such a misque would end up with serious carnage! Comes down to balls or brains? I think Dowd would still track him down without hucking it, like he did in the old days... Cornering is everything..

They are fun when you do them right. NOT fun when you do them wrong.

The jump usually doesn't kill you.....the bad landings do. Wink

you aint kidding. One of my last races I was near the lead A/B double drop and I have 3 guys pass me over a 90' or so triple that I have never had one inclination of doing after seeing some of the carnage on it. Now i focus on my kids BMX racing and not my moto anymore.

No, no, no, it was either another jump or the same jump but the first landing that they are talking about. In the video you can see that it's like a table top then another landing after that and then even further there is the next hump that the guy in the video tried to get to.

There's no doubt it wasn't fast, and hell, it might even be slower if you're landing like this dude! It's just sick to see someone hit it.

Sorry but there was no option to embed the video or I would have. You should be able to just follow the link.

It was posted on Chris Millers' Facebook, but I don't know if he was the one filming or riding.

I feel bad for that two-stroke though. Not only does it have to carry the weight of the rider, but it also is under the load of his massive nuts. I wonder if he has custom seat foam to accompany them while cornering. Whistling

Do you think he tapes them to his legs before he rides to counteract the poor handling that swaying would cause?

Awesome, whisky throttle!!! Good nothing bad happened. Humble, skilled on a smoker. Nice combo!

Considering he almost made it after that first jump landing almost halfway in between those jumps. If he would have nailed that first jump and could commit into the second jump would he be able to make it?

And would the Pros ( RV,RD,JS,CR etc etc ) be able to huck it if Paden King whas not able to do it on his smoker if he hit the section flawlessly ?

this quote from Brotocross is GOLD

Hello, Earth to everyone – you just saw a kid case a jump that even your precious Jesus would have looked at and said “You know what, I really don’t need to quad that. Like, I’ll get my hands and feet nailed to a cross all day long, but I am not hitting that shit.”

I can't see it. Sad . Why isn't this on YouTube?

I originally thought he was trying to hit it on purpose. But I am even more impressed now at his control and composure in the air after getting the whisky throttle! Props!

Big gaps are making this sport kinda scary at times. At our local track there's a step down that leads into a rhythm section. I've always thought you could double into it if you're brave. But it's completely blind and the jumps appear much bigger on a bike than in video. But this kid blew my idea out of the water.. Why double in when you can just pin it and triple?
