Here's how it'll work on the Supercross format. Don't get there late, as the 450 heat races will go off first, and will transfer four riders each. Semis will qualify five each, and the LCQ will take four.

If you're doing the math, that's 22 rider, and there will be 22 riders in both the 450 and 250 mains. The 250 LCQ will also transfer four riders.

Interesting, i like it. Same start times? Heat 1 use to gate drop at 7:10pm local if i recall correctly.

More racing, less downtimes, 4 riders from the LCQ, all good IMO.

Same here! I see it as better racing all the way around for fans.
If they know they have to crack the top 4-they're gonna turn it up! Wink

With only 4 transferring from the heat races, I think the racing will be better. But I still think all the racing should be for points.

Sounds good. I always thought they should take 4 in the Last Chance.

Why not go 5 from each heat, each semi and 2 from the LCQ?

It's better racing at the LCQ when it's more go for broke.

Like it. I think having fewer advance will make the 5-9 place races a bit more interesting

How many laps will they run in the Heats, semis, and LCQs?
It used to be like this when they raced with the Semis in the night program.

250 heats - 6 laps
450 Heats - 8 laps

450 Semis - 6 laps

250 LCQ - 4 laps
450 LCQ - 6 laps

Better for the fans. Anytime there are additional starts added to the program, and another opportunity for riders to battle for a win, we all benefit.

All riders in the mains will earn points. Last three will get one point each.

Hell yea, I like this a lot. No more lazy cruising around to make the main. With this deep field, it's gonna be good racing til we get to the main then it'll be a snoozer Tongue the LCQ may loose it's go for broke/best racing of the night lack luster, but well see!! It's a step in the right direction! Somebody was listening after last season...

Awesome! Maybe the powers that be are actually listening to the fans and the moto heads that know what is up! That is exciting news, bravo.

Is the program longer? Because staying up later than 1CT is difficult for some.

Cool......Who could argue with having more races at your racing Event?

Don't tell Regis but this is almost the same format they ran 25 years ago in SX with the exception of 4 riders from the LCQ instead of 2.

I think because that way it would 450 heats-250 heats-450 semis-250 lcq-450 lcq-250 main and 450 main

I like it. Just dont understand why they would put the premier class with more laps before the "lites" class. Do the 250s also get semis?
Any word on the lap count, Guyb?

WOW! Right on! I like this a lot!! Bringing back the semi's is a huge push to make the series better for sure.

And 22 riders on the main gate? Holy hell that is awesome!

Now if they would just bump the laps up to 25........I don't think you could ask for anything else.

If you're adding more races, you need more breaks between races. That's where the 250 heats come in.

Six-lap heats, and five-lap semis for the fo-fiddys. Four-lap LCQs.

125 class which is now the 250 class was always top nine from each heat and four from the LCQ for 22 riders on the gate for the main.. I never understood why they trimmed it to 20 to begin with but that's all in the past fortunately.

Now that the 450 class will have 22 riders there's not much more to ask for....well except for timed main events. Given the depth of talent in the 450 class I don't like at 21st and 22nd as more lappers. I look at it that two additional hard working racers will be able to hone their craft further by getting this much needed race seat time.

Feld did good on this one.....real good. I also have to think both John Gallagher's with the FIM and Kevin Crowther's with the AMA fingerprints can be found on this great news too.

I'm really blown away on this one...........nice when change is as positive as this is!

I guess it is human nature to want more even when things are moving in the right direction. Believe me... riders will still be going for broke. Usually there are two-three guys breaking away a little, and then a wolf pack behind. Now with 4 spots, it will be even better.
