It was like being in Europe with that tall grass and Bob Hannah was on his way to winning 22 motos in a row. Remember Gaylon Mosier being the first guy out in practice on that 125 Kawasaki?

Strawberry Hill MX in Dallas had a National in early 73'.
Rabbit Run had x2 Trans-AMA's (76' and 77'), but I don't believe they ever hosted a National
The place was a Drag Strip and MX track for a few years until in 1984 someone was killed on the MX track, and then within a month or so later, someone was killed on the Drag Strip!, A friend of mine owns the land that it use to be on, and I'm thinking sometime this weekend, I will go over and get a pic of the downhill jump (now all washed out and dry rutted) where RJ busted his front wheel.) You can see the downhill jump from I-25 just south of Castle Rock, and I drive by it many times while at work as a meter reader, I just stare at it, it's a peice of History. It's one of the only places in Castle Rock that still has not had any housing or zoning done to it, so it still looks kinda ghostly!
I will try to post a pic of it over the weekend( im a little computer illiterate) if I can get a friend to help me. It realy is a site to see

I remember the rain before the event. Do you remember the motor homes and vans getting stuck going up the long driveway to the track?
It was so bad that I missed my qualifier at that event stuck in a ditch at the bottom of the hill going in!
Sears had huge up/downhills...seems like many good tracks that are gone had those huge up/downhill elevation changes.
TG....don't remember Hollister havin' a National in '86 or I would've been there. Sure it wasn't a 250 GP? Know they had both 250 and 500 GPs there. '89 last yr they had a 500 GP.
The DeCoster crash at Livermore - I think it was his triple clamp that gave out off a big jump at high speed. He's lucky he only got cut up.
I miss the old Sears Point too. That was a great track they had there.
Yeah had in '89....I know is Houtermans called me knowing I had a KX500 and Jo Martens raced it. Got like 8-10 o/a...JoJo was a really nice guy. Kees VanderVen BD...like after race, didn't give a shit and popped out the brews with some cake....funny how laid back they all were those euros.
I would've sworn that Prarie and Hollister never had Nationals during the same year being so close to each other...maybe lost Saddleback the yr before. Sounds like same yr. when Hangtown ran 125/250s....Local Kelly Andris ran 3rd for a good while and Bailey couldn't pass him until his chain derailed or some bike failure.
I'm sure you must be right.....just don't ever remember a Nat then at Hollister unless my work pulled an okie-doke and had to work that day......
Sears with those HUGE up and downhills.....Pretty technical track.

I think there might have been a Trans USA race at Hollister too back in the early 80's.
Remember back in 79 and 80, Sears Point had Nationals there along with Hangtown ? We literally had races coming out our ears back then. Oakland Super X, Hangtown, Sears national & Trans AMA/USA all in the same year. Great times for Nor Cal MX fans. I especially liked going to Sears Point because it was only about a 20 minute drive from my house.
I rode at Herman Nebraska once and it was a great track, but I loved the track in Denton Nebraska. I broke my RM80 every time I raced there. It was rough.
