Got my first mini-bike September 1970. Sold it for a Trail 70 Feb 71'. Scored an SL100 Jan.72'. Picked up a Montesa 125 Cappra Oct. 72'. I wanted to be Mike Runyard (#43, and everything!). Did my 1st race on that "piece" March, 1973. Bought a Monark 125 April 73'. Paid for it myself (13yo),by making and selling leather visors at local races for $4.00 a pop. You can see a guy wearing one in "rider's meeting" footage in "One Chance To Win". Plenty of other bikes while racing most every weekend from March 73' to December 80'. Went from 125 novice to 250 expert.

Didn't touch motorcycles for 27 years until riding a friend's Maico last December. I now own, and race, a 77' AW 440. I'm also the Vice-President of Texas Vintage Racing Club (TVRC). The club has operated consistently since 1988, and celebrated 20 years October, 2008.

there were some modifications/improvements made to the "green stripe" 125's prior to introduction of the "red stripes" in 75'. the clutch actuating lever on the right hand case was changed pretty early on. also, additional material was added to the frame around the footpeg area, due to several instances of the mounts (with peg attached) shearing from the frame. seems...

actually Cam, Chicken Licks and Punkin Center go back to early issues of MXA and were fictitious tracks in Pete Syzlagi's (sic) column, or maybe it was from "Bazzer's Box". if Mosier was ever referred to as Chicken Licks (I started racing there in 73'), it was only after someone ripped off the name from MXA.

how come the prototype above has a Sachs engine? the 125 "Six Days" and 100 "Berkshire" were both Sachs powered. the first Penton with a KTM powerplant came in late 72' and was the 175cc "Jackpiner", followed by the 250cc "Hare Scrambler" in ealy to mid 73'. not trying to be a wiseguy here, but wondering if KTM actually manufactured...

I'm sure of it. Bobby never rode on TLC. he did ride for Super Cycle in Arlington, TX, Terry's Kawasaki (Curtis Terry), Husky/Penton of Dallas (John Long), and Kimbrell's Maico/Suzuki (Johnny Kimbrell).

there were actually two different TLC teams, but Wyman and Bobby Pickard never rode for them. Ike Haas, owner of Texas Leisure Chair (TLC) organized a team in 72', had a heart attack in Fall of 72', disbanded the 1st team, then revamped early 73'.
