Yeah, you are missing something. If you'd read instead of just looking at pictures, you'd discover a lot has changed about the bike.

Sorry, yeah, you're right. Missed the new airbox cover. So will last years engine relocation kir work, or not???
Really bro? How about you stick to threads devoted to Honda.

From MXA mid week report:
MOTOCROSS-ACTIONS-MIDWEEK-REPORT-BY-JOHN-BASHER

"We'll be riding the 2014 Yamaha YZ450F on Wednesday, June 26th. Look for a full report soon afterward."

I would think most other media types will be there also.

Those first reports have a tendency to give no valid info what so ever, ending with read the full report in the mag, after we test it some more. Can't blame them, it's what pays their salaries...

It doesnt matter if its a full test or not, MXA says the same thing on every bike in the last 30 years. "We added 1 tooth to the rear sprocket..." its so predictable its sad.

We'll be there and you won't have to wait for the "full review" in the magazine. That's the beauty of what we do here.

You guys know there's like this whole other world if you click on the Vital banner in the top left corner right? Laughing

Also the only mag that's not saying how wonderful every bike is.

As I recall, the 2010 YZ 450F was introduced to the press on an immaculately prepped Budd's Creek. All the first ride reports celebrated the mass-centralized YZ as the best handling bike ever. Press intros are held on tracks that are as smooth and well prepped as a billiard a table. I wouldn't pay much attention to the first ride reports.
I was at the Canadian press intro back in 2009. They had us compare it to a very poorly set-up 2009 YZ450F on a full-blown supercross track. Needless to say we were impressed with the bike. We got the chance to ride it again a few weeks later against our own race bikes (Suzukis that year). I can't say the bike was lightyears better than my RM-Z, but it's definitely a good bike.

Well I for one am going to be waiting eagerly on the bike report. I think it's a great looking bike as well. And like i said in my previous post in this thread , I really liked my 2010. I only had one issue with it and it was a common problem with a lot of the guys who own the YZF. It had a tendency to want to crawl out of a rut when cornering. A lot of guys used the DrD re-location kit and did some other minor adjustments and most all of the issue went away. I sold my bike before putting one dime into it....not because i didn't like it.....but because I was done with moto completely. Until I came back to my senses.

My father has a subscription to Dirt Rider.... and while I think overall the magazine is junk, I think that the bike tests that they do are actually really good. You get to hear about all the pros and cons form every rider that rides it and what they think should be done to fix it.

Is JGR racing the new machine this weekend? Was Josh Grant on the new bike in the One Lap video?

From that video, no. Gas cap is not recessed and right side subframe looks like the old one.

I want to trade my 2011 in for it. When does FMF start selling a "snake exhaust" for the older version so I can get that pipe away from my shock?

Moto? What's that? I just do wheelies and broadies up and down the streets where I live. When the shock gets hot, my wheelies are less predictable. Wink

I have been waiting on that pipe for my 2011 as well. I have called and email both Dr D and FMF and cant get a response from them if and when they will make one.
Damn....I'm guessing that they aren't offering it because the cost to make vs. the demand they foresee doesn't make it worth it for them.

MXA bike tests are the best tests out there. They aren't perfect but they do a GREAT job.

I always add TWO teeth to the rear of every bike. I try it with one and it's better but then I try it with two and like it even more. I use their tips quite frequently and there is no other magazine or website that I trust more with the objective (as objective as one could probably be) tests of these awesome machines.

Their tests have become less useful over the last 10 years because the bikes are all so good but they still offer great insight and tips on them. The fact is, nearly all the 250s and 450s that are offered by the big five are seriously good bikes and will work for any of us mortals just fine. These are great days we're livin bros. We've got five brands to choose from and no matter what color you like, the bike will be pretty dang competitive - bone stock.

Yes, I just laugh when someone bashes MXA, the internet Keyboard Kowboys are just clueless.

It's not their fault, they were home schooled no doubt and have reading comprehension issues.
