I'm glad for Jerry. Keep going fast, regardless of whatever bike you ride. Don't worry about 500guy, I think he's actually a stand up guy regardless of how he comes across - kind of like one of those people who is gruff on the surface, but would probably give you the shirt off his back. Keep the fight.

Jerry seems like a nice kid, and he seems to have some skills to boot. But honestly, this was a very week LL regional. No stars in the top three at Millvelle at that race.

Bryson Taylor: http://www.hookit.com/members/trueracing/resume/motocross/

Eric Grondahl: This is all that I could find on this kid. http://oakhill2013.tracksideresults.com/racer.asp?n=11447

I wish young Jerry the best.

I think a certain poster who never seems to have anything good to say needs to take a break from Vital.

It was a very weak field for a LL Regional.

That's all.

Dan keep your head up , kids are like sponges ,there was/is some life's lessons in this 1 living within your means 2 life is not easy there will be some ups and downs 3 I would venture to guess there was some long hours put into that bike to get it race ready nothing comes easy , your son may not realize it now but some where it is registering in his brain for latter in life . He will be a better man for it some day

Pffff .......500guy come on ,jerry is just a kid !!
Winning on a 85cr250 is not a trick or gimmick its real!

Whats realy the point here is, discussion comparing old vs modern .or must i say cheap vs expensive

I did always engine and suspension work myself so i notes over the years inside the mxers not realy much differences.

@Jack ; wondering the suspension 1985cr250?
Simple ,just the right springs/weight (most important 80%) and good service , (the other 20%)
Maybe some hard anodizing.

And don't forget honda had the suspension in the 85-87 on very high level .some people say they never get it that level on later models.
The 87 cr250 fork was in fact a works unit . I am wondering if jerry is riding that fork or a standard 85 damper rod fork .
Yes these forks had some flex also the frame ,witch makes it more forgivable to ride fast.

He is riding a pro cicuit pipe so i was wondering if dan did the atac shut off mod.
I see the bike has the original waterpumpcover so doesn't it have any magnesium rotting?
I hva a tip for Dan the 89cr250 waterpump cover is alu and bolt rigth on.and still available by honda!!!

Haha i like the thougth kids coming in mx shop al asking for a eighties cr......

I know for sure if the 85 stays in good condition by a good mechanic and putting a new sleeve in it(yes a85 doesn't nikasil)
Jerry can race and win races for years to come without a lot money

Jerry you ride like a bit of herlings good luck!,,,,

Right...I'll lump your post right in there with 500guy's. Little relevance to this thread.

Really?

So my statement about the weakness of this group of B riders at this particular regional were false?

Like I said earlier. Jerry seems like a really nice kid, and he rides well. And even though I have said nothing mean spirited about Jerry, you seem to have a bee in your bonnet.

WOW! Read the very first post the day it was posted, and just now came back to see this pissing contest! I can't believe this thread has survived this long! 10 pages of off topic ignorant bullshit. Is Gibby out to lunch or what?

I sometimes think Gibby likes to see a good 2 stroke thread circle the drain....

Just kidding Guy BTongue

But it is pretty amazing that the 4 stroke extremist fantards will tear one up like they've done here. All in all it appears as if this topic has about a 98% approval rating and that's probably as good as any thread here ever.

Your statement, however accurate, does belittle the accomplishment whether you intended to or not. I mean, as far as that goes, he beat a bunch of slow, weak riders on slower, heavier motorcycles.

Had he driven to a race anywhere from 500 - 1000 miles away to cherrypick a race like so many here locally used to do , Jim's comment might hold some water with me. But it looks like he hit one close to home so.....whatever.

RC, Reed, Stewart, RV, Dungey.....they all won some races and /or championships with pretty weak competition according to some of the people here.

If you take a look at my previous post with a pic from his results at mini o's you would see he has some good results with a stacked field on what looks to be a worn out yz125. Not gonna say he's going to blow them away, but a top 20 at Loretta's on that bike is amazing.

I can't believe he made it through the moto with out snapping that frame on one off those jumps , 26 years off metal fatigue ? Remember that was pre production rule the mfg where not throwing there best stuff out yet the jumps today are way more bigger then they where back then . He has to be real smooth to make that thing last , let's be real about this the only thing hitting jumps that where about the size off today's mx track is the pros with factory frames in super cross . It's amazing on many different levels what he did stacked field or not

It's super cool to see Jerry rail on that old CR. I hope he can drum up enough money to buy a fresh front axle, as they are about the size of your pinky finger and I've seen them break before with much less abuse.

.

Jerry has to have skills to qualify for LL's. Any rider who qualifies has to have skills and good luck to qualify anymore no-matter what class or Regional.!

I agree with Jmar, the NC is an easier Regional than some of the others. It was our back up regional if we did not qualify through the SC Regional.

500Guy... we raced together back in the day of 500cc bikes and Jay has always been a take no prisoners type of racer on the track and will tell you its either black or white! You either you like what he says or you don't. Like others have said he would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it or help etc. Remember the motto for this forum "Bring your tear-offs and prepare to duck the roost!", with 500Guy you need to have roll-offs if you want to play!

Kodus to Craig Decker and John Mitchel for the offers! Craig has helped me out at Swan last year when I needed a "Main Jet" of all things! I have know John for 10 plus years and is another guy that will give you the shirt off his back if you need it. Did our 05 KX 125 this winter and it rips!

If Jerry and his dad need some Pre-mix oil for the smoker, I am willing to give them a case of our Lucas Oil at LL's if they want to use it! Most families need help to get there or after they get there, this sport is not cheap anymore!

Lastly why can't we all just get along...? Oh yea... it's like the local MX track... no one is ever happy with whatever you do.

As someone on here says... Cheers! Smile

BobbyI agree with you 100% and In todays times where kids are living at training facilities and riding every day on good bikes and turning laps that are fast enough to qualify for a pro national it makes it a huge accomplishment just to make to the ranch in B class. Now do it on a 28 year old bike!
