Not sure if they get the boot over the vent hose routing or for not leaving enough room around the engine. Either way, I vote them out and award the contract to TCI Performance.

Ride day at Rio a few weeks back was at least a even split of 2 and 4 strokes, and that's taking the minis out of the equation.
Less you are serious about racing, and even then, cheaper maintenance and or buying cost seems to be the thing...
snowmobiles already do this with certain chassis. you can get a ski-doo xp or xs and pick the motor options. I realize this would be tough with 250/250t/450...but i don't see it being a huge issue between 250f/250t.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it!
2005 - 2 strokes are dead
2006 - 3 people revived old 2 strokes
2006- 5 people
2007 - 6 people
2008 - 12 people ( good welfare year)
2009 -2012 - 60 people revived 2 strokes but Newman owns 30 of them so not sure what to make of this huge surge.
2013 - 2 strokes are still dead except for some sentimental guy's and some cheap or poor people.
Been back on my smoker for almost 3 years now. Come on people, get with the times!
Pit Row
These numbers are from major tracks only, no small ones. Huge turnouts. 100 to several hundred riders. We left off all small tracks because they were all over the board usually higher % 2 strokes than the average.
Even come to a track like Pala on a random weekend and half the guys riding the main track are on 2-strokes sometimes.
A KTM 360 2strk in today's modern chassis would be totally bitchin.
I call it the KTM400VSX
Otherwise that project looks awesome, but I am not convinced by the evolutions of "modern bikes" (1985-2010 or let us since upside down forks). On a track, beyond the psychological aspect "a new bike is faster", if you know how to maintain the bike to always ride on a brand new bike, I am not sure that a 2014 YZ 250 would be faster than a 1992 250 (remember how fast was Bradshaw on tracks that for me were often more sketchy & less prepared).
I still think dialed in 89' CR 250 or 88' YZ 250 can take any 2014 450, and I am not entering a debate regarding cube centimer FIM equivalences as it could be written "can take any 2014 250", just my opinion, and the cost is 1000 vs 10000, without counting all the parts you can buy cheap if anything break (radiators, wheels, shocks, gear boxes, carters, etc).
Only modern technologies would bring something, but right now it would cost 10 times more than stock 4 strokes; full titanium, magnesium, carbon fiber, data acquisition, traction control, ABS/or electro magnetic brakes, electro magnetic suspension at low speed, bi cylinder, turbo compressor if allowed, tubeless tires, but then even the 250 4 strokes would be too powerful !
If so, you're dreamin'.
