What makes this thing so confusing to me is , I know Steve had been on a major health kick these past few years....and he looked great. He was pretty hard core into the Paleo diet and had mentioned numerous times how he was always getting his blood work done and so forth.....and everything looked exceptionally well for a guy his age. This was after he had lost all the weight. He said he felt better than ever just up to a couple months ago. That's what's confusing.....is how could they possibly miss something? ( his physicians ) It is a real bummer because I know how hard he worked at trying to be healthy. Hang in there Steve.
I had an uncle experience what sounds like almost the same thing a few years ago - except that he passed, we think pretty well as soon as he hit the ground. Completely out of the blue - talk about throwing a family for a loop. The doctor involved advised the immediate family to have the rest of the 'older' males in the immediate & slightly extended family to get an ECHOcardiogram at first chance. EKGs only tell part of the story - your electrics might be doing OK but your plumbing might be a mess waiting to happen, that only an Echo can see. So I had one & they found a slightly leaky valve that an eye will be kept on going forward (also a problem that led my Mom [Uncles brother] to having a valve replaced) - otherwise all clear. So if anyone has anything like this going on in their family history, you owe it to your loved ones to ask your doctor about an Echocardiogram. IMO they are a very under-utilized simple diagnostic procedure, that many are unaware of.

Still pulling for you Teefus - grab that gear & pin it.

Thanks for updating Bauer. Here is some background and another status.

Bruhn is still with us this morning and that is a good sign. Bruhn had two massive heart attacks. He was in a Memphis hospital for a routine procedure and not on telemetry when he had the first attack. Nobody knows how long he was down before they found him. He was moved to a hospital more equipped to handle this type of care. He was there when the second one hit him. They found two very serious blockages and put in stints and put him on a ventilator (which has since been removed). Because he was down due to the first attack and nobody knows for how long, there was some other significant damage. If he does make it thru this, there is a good chance he may need a transplant.

Mike (his Brother) and Rhonda (sis-in-law) are there in ICU with him. Rhonda is a retired cardiac nurse so she is very familiar with this type condition. He is in great hands.

Like MXeditor said...one hour at a time. All of your prayers and positive thoughts must be making a difference....because while all this may sound bad, he is still with us!!

Any restrictive blood flow to his brain during these events? A heart is one thing....brain damage, and the poor guy might end up as bad as the rest of us.

When my little company started, and no one knew who we were, Steve treated me with respect and as equal to everyone else in the industry, no ego, no hierarchy. He offered us the opportunity to make a name for ourselves, by sponsoring his news section of his website (cheap) and calling it "The Engine Ice Daily News," it helped put us on the map, and Steve offered it to us first, and though many other companies tried to take it from me by offering Steve more money, he was loyal, because I took the risk with him on his new idea, and he never wavered. I finally let it go, because the money was too good for him to not be allowed it, but he wanted to make sure I was ok with it first. You don't see too much equal treatment and loyalty in MX, much less the world. I think how small the world really is, and how fragile our time on this earth is. I am glad I got to see Steve at the MXoN in Lommel a few months back, he looked good and seemed the happiest I'd ever seen him. I am glad I got to see and talk to my friend. We need more people like, TFS.

So, c'mon Steve, keep going.

Had a lot of pissing matches with TFS over the last 15 years... Most were in good fun, some pretty personal... but at the end of the day, I'll still rest knowing that I was TFS' "favorite motodrive poster" (in his own words). lol

Get well Steve. I will pray that my God will be watching over you!

Heck, I still have a TFS print framed (even though the glass is broke) in my office...It's just as blurry as all his other pictures. lol

That's exactly it, I spoke to Mike this morning. As much as Steve is fighting, it's coming all down to quality of life, his body is fighting yes, but Steve himself is not, his heart is damaged, his stomach is damaged, and possibly his brain is damaged. They won't know yet, but the window is closing, 48 hours seems to be the magic number and we are up to 36 or so. Keep Steve in your thoughts and prayers. I have been collecting the emails that people have been sending and will get those to Steve's family. Mike and I also talked about the Tennessee National, regardless of the outcome he thought Steve's Moto-Family should all meet there to celebrate TFS. OH and Steve's Birthday is this Friday ! Wish him a Happy Birthday ~

I only had the pleasure of meeting Steve twice and it was pretty cool. Talking back and forth with him over the years , I always respected the guy a lot and what he did for the moto community. That was a really cool story you put up Dave. It's also really cool knowing Steve has a bunch of friends that really care for the dude. Steve had so many "verbal battles" over the years on these mx boards......and it's nice seeing guys like you and some of the old time posters coming out of the wood work to wish him well. I know things are still up in the air with Steve right now.....but it sounds like he's doing a pretty good job of battling this as well. Hang in there Steve!

This is exactly the story you will hear from anyone who worked with Steve. I can remember arriving early to the Houston SX almost ten years ago, and it was sleeting and gusting cold from the north. I saw his Egomobile in the pits, beat on the door and he let me and my wife hang out for hours before the pits officially opened to keep warm. Just drinking whatever swag energy drink he had on hand, and BSing about whatever was the gossip-de-jour at the time. Nerd was in there too, and it was the best time ever doing lots of nothing with fellow motoheads. When you get right down to it, thats the kinda guy he is; truly a good person who helped lots & lots of people during his travels.

We are praying for you Steve.
