Must have been embarrassing to stand there with Erin telling you the decision had been changed in your favor, right after millions of fans had just seen you act like a whiney baby live & in color on TV...Blush

Weston did say in his interview that a rock was stuck in the perch/adjuster and caused the clutch to overheat. Thats why he was pissed at the bike. He had RK covered so that had to be tough feeling the clutch going when you know where you would be if things were fine.

All you bad asses don't be crying next year when he gets snubbed on good paying rides.

Stuff like that on TV is actually good for the sport. People love to see emotion and to Peick's defense, at least it showed how bad he wants it!

I usually don't bother reading threads with such classless titles, but when I see a personal attack on someone's character that is so obviously off the mark and clueless. I just have to respond...

Not sure if anyone on here knows the story of how Greg Lemond was signed to a professional contract, read on:

GL: And when I won it, that sparked the interest of Cyrille Guimard, who then came to the next race I was riding, the Ruban Granitier de Breton, which is another 5-day race. I was in a breakaway with 5 Russians and a Belgian. Had I just stayed with that group I would have won that race. I got a flat tire in the last day and my follow car wasn't behind me. I ended up losing about 2 and a half minutes to the break, which I would never catch because they were 5 Russians riding flat out. And the peloton was 2 and a half minutes behind, which meant that I just lost the whole race. I was... emotionally pissed off.

Lejeune bikes were sponsoring the U.S. team and helping with part of the expenses.

CB: Was this all as part of the National Team?

GL: Yeah, We had no money. We were shoestringing it over there. The organizers paid for the hotels. Lejeune help cover some of the mechanical stuff. So, when I had a flat, I waited and waited and waited. The Belgian team came up and handed me a wheel. Then the Lejeune car came up..."Where the heck have you been..?", I told the mechanic, "I'm done. You just cost me the race."

The mechanic insisted that I finish the race for the sponsor as if I had some moral or financial obligation to the sponsor. When he said that I got off and threw his Lejeune bike at the car and said, "I'm done."

Cyrille Guimard saw that. He came to me after the stage and said in interviews later that, "When I saw his temperament, that is when I decided that's who I wanted on the team."

CB: That Fall Bernard Hinault and Cyrille Guimard traveled to Nevada to talk to you?

GL: Yep. I signed my contract

Weston has the drive of a champion! He just needs to find the right sponsors.

Weston is normally cool as a cucumber and is as even keeled as they come. To me the only thing Weston demonstrated last evening is the fact he is human.

Big deal it is a motorcycle falling off of a stand, it maybe scuffed up the grips. I think a crash on the track or even over jumping that finish line jump did a lot more damage to the bike. Imagine if that was RC in that situation I bet it would have been worse.

loudog- your son is a badass! anyone that has ever raced with a result of making the main, not making the main know the passion involved. i admire him for showing passion, and for killing it on the track. he was clearly faster than kiniry.

I would say it's good for TV ratings. So ultimately I guess I would agree with it being good for the sport from that prospective. Why do you think the tv cameras were rolling at that particular moment? They wanted to catch the 'emotion of the moment'; the thrill, the excitment, etc, etc. It's all for the TV show. However, that is the behavior we discouraged from our kids.

Not sure how I feel about this. On the one hand, I can see how the heat of the moment overwhelmed him but at the same time I don't believe in helmet throwing or bike bashing.

I'm reminded of two quotes by all of this.

"It's a poor craftsman who blames his tools."

"The true mettle of a man is defined more in defeat than in victory."

That camera was obviously far off and that dude had no clue anyone was watching. Im sure a lot worse happens inside the rigs. I read some bashing comments on my facebook from some other pro racers that werent there that get full rides form their daddies. A full grown man being pissed off and lashing out sounds like every construction site ive ever been on. shame on speed for putting that poor dude out like that

Make that four. I wouldn't call Weston an idiot, but kicking your bike off the stand is unacceptable behaviour no matter the circumstances (IMO). My Dad would have probably sold my bike had I done that as a kid!

Wow a hole thread over a guy kicking his bike out of frustration!

What about the fact for the second round in a row some bullshit unclear rule has caused the issue at hand.

SX the only motorsport on the planet that has a yellow flag you can pass under and does nothing to slow a rider down, A red light that means continue racing just don't jump, and a Red X flag that means don't pass, you know what a yellow flag does in all other moto sport.

Then add to that they have the transponder location in a different spot to the finish line just to add a little more confusion to racing and the general fan at home, the commentators, the riders and any one else watching!

Just hope the same thing happens between Dungey and Villopoto at some stage during this year, one crosses the transponder point first and the other across the finish line first.

That would be a great thread to read through.

As for Peick, great to see a rider with some emotion and clearly pissed not to make a main (though he did). I am sure the bike is fine and it's feelings not hurt!

I've seen your youtube videos Jay. You calling someone an idiot is laughable. I dot think I would ever show my face again if I had video evidence such as yours. But you probably think your videos are good and funny, so honestly I can never read or listen to a word you say without laughing AT you.

What would you have done, pulled him from the race? No, you would pick up his bike and fix every broken thing on it so he could get out there and race.

A Rider getting really pissed because he didn't make the Main by ONE position?

Yup.

I understand his anger.

Someday, when I'm a complete non-riding & non-racing Key-Stroking-Warrior...? Well, when that day comes...?

I probably won't "Get It" either.

Hey, Weston? I'm over it. Let's focus on Next-Week.
