I don't see a single rider who deserves either of those monikers, at least not in the last 10 years or so. A actually feel bad for riders like Reed. He's asked a question about the bike, he says the bike is not quite right and people scream "WHINER!"

I just don't get it.
I have a great idea Terry! Change the subject from "Top arrogant/whiny pro riders?" to "Top arrogant/whiny Vital members" We could break it out a little and separate "arrogant" and "whiny" for great fun! Sideways

To keep it on topic, one time when I was pretty young, Rick Johnson was a total dick to me at a time when he didn't need to be. Might as well add me to the whiny list, I still haven't forgotten, he was my hero at the time.

Stewart used to be, but defintely has a different attitude now. Reed used to be, but definitely has a different attitude now. Carmichael in his Honda days could kind of be that way too. Barcia obviously isn't helping his case with Bercy and Houston. Wilson was pretty whiny last year after Tomac repayed the favor. I think a lot of it though is heat of the moment stuff. We've all done things in the heat of the moment we regret.

LOL, yes Reed says the bike is not quite right....... Week, after week, after week , after week, after week, after week, after week!! If I were Honda I would not be very happy about Reedy deflecting his results onto the bike. At some point he needs to be honest with himself and accept the fact that the bike is fine, and that the real problem is in the mirror!! Like I said earlier, I like Reedy, he had a great run, but unfortunately he is in the twilight of his career. Yes it sucks, but sooner or later it happens to all of them!!

I don't think I've ever seen a interview with Jake Whinemore where he isn't complaining about being a factory rider! Also, I don't think the video recently of Villopoto made him look good at all.

I think some talk has come up recently regarding Justin Barcia's comments on how James Stewart raced him aggressively at the St. Louis round. Justin "BamBam" Barcia has made a name for himself by not thinking twice about being super agressive with the competition, quick to run them high and even take them out. There's even a Flinstones cartoon before he's introduced at the first of the race, complete with shots of him banging riders left and right. For a rider to have a reputation like that, and cry when a veteran rider like Stewart makes contact with him is pretty much being a whiny baby, IMO.

Justin Barcia is the King of Whiny. Cried like a little girl last year, after peeling put on the medics.

Barcia and Reed.

Reed not so much now, but you go back 4-5 years ago and he was the biggest cry baby. It was bad.

At times, most of them say things they shouldn't,most of them get over emotional, most of them throw little tantrums, and most of them let testosterone get the best of them. It's almost as if they were boy /men in their late teens to mid twenties.I just don't understand it.Whistling

CP377 first one that came to mind when I read the title.

Yeah he even called him a pussy if memory serves me right. But to his credit he did act like a stand up to canard when he lost that title to him. He said he respect him and even visited him and congratulated him later on after the race. At least that's what I remember reading somewhere (mag or maybe here on vital). But he certainly didn't care for hungry.

Chad Reed x 10000. he figured out that people didnt like his attitude, so now he acts fake on camera and kisses ass. and people say "i used to hate him but now i like him"

I think all riders have to have some "arrogance" These guys are some of the best athletes in the world and have to preform week in and week out. They have to have some sort of "im better than everyone else" attitude, because thats what it takes. Confidence is key. I know alot of riders seem arrogant but im sure if you spent a week with any of those guys you would change your tune about them.

As for whining, man when I ride like crap i cant thing of a positive thing to say about anything that day!
But I feel Reed is king Whiner! wah wah wah

Selective listening? He has said many times maybe they need to just change the rider on the bike. Someone being honest isnt whining. Doesnt matter if its Yamaha, Suzuki or Honda, he's says same thing. He needs to be comfortable. A logical person might think, Hey its reed having issues with his personal comfort level and needs to keep working to find it. Not Reed is blaming his bike. Interviewer's ask him these questions knowing he will actually answer it rather than give a generic answer. Reed has said on occassion that he admires those who can just jump on a bike without being comfortable and ride fast. He recognizes that weakness in himself and is honest about it.

I dont see Reed as any different now as he was a few years ago, except a bit more relaxed. You yanks seem to accept him now, because when he was left without a ride, and when everyone said that he was finished, he did what no one thought possible and started his own team. This seemed to earn him a lot of respect, and fans. It certainly wasnt a bunch of ass kissing and acting fake as you claim.

I'm guessing you probably met RJ in the '83/'84 time frame? The first time I met him, I was actually surprised he didn't refer to himself in third person. He got a bit better as his career progressed, but "humble" is never a word anyone could use to describe him.

Right here ^^^
I've always thought Chad was just giving an honest assessment of where he is on the set up of his current mount.
Now back in the day..........he had some "maturing" to do. But haven't they all??...

Bud of mine's Kid just raced the KTM Challenge at Atlanta. He said by far the coolest rider to the Kids and the most genuine, nice guy out of all the pro riders was JAMES BUBBA STEWART. Also said Big James was a class act.(I was pleasantly surprised) Biggest DICK HEAD - Ryan Dungey

I think it was '87 or maybe even '88. Moto 4 era with the red white and blue helmet. I remember I even had the dog painted on my Shoei that he had painted on the back of his helmet. I realize riders don't have to say hi to everyone, but I wasn't in a crowd in this case.

I usually discount the "dad" opinion. Too many folks believe their kids deserve attention from riders at all times.
