Not a racer? Blink
Yeah he is such a slacker

...Won his first Loretta Lynn’s Amateur National Championship at only six years old. At about this time he also got on board with Team Green Kawasaki, who he remained with for the rest of his record-breaking 11 amateur championships at Loretta Lynn's ranch. James has just two more 250/450AMASX Championships than I do. I've never had the hype or the talent he has, yet he only has two? Hmmmm??? I'm a championship kinda guy, I don't care how many wins a season you have, how many C chips ya got matter more to me than total wins. These guys ride for championships, when you don't have those, your second go to move is how many race wins. Championships mean more, period.

Words I think of when I hear James' name... Crazy style...Super fast... Line choice like no other.... Crashes...Injuries... Under achieved in his career...Poor PR.. Quitter...

In RacerX's RacerHead:

Ping: "There is talk that he has to get four top-ten finishes to meet the obligations in his Red Bull contract. I have no idea if that’s accurate. If he bows out after San Diego it might be a good indicator that it is."

JT: "James Stewart has been trying to ride through a torn ACL, and rumor has it he needs to fulfill a performance clause to collect his Red Bull check."

-- I've never heard anything about this rumor yet, thought I'd share. If it's true, I have a lot less respect for James who keeps trying to convince us he's still racing because he "loves racing too much," despite showing no improvement the last few weekends.
Obviously your respect isn't worth a shit.

You have the same number of championships as Andrew Short. Does that even come close to putting you in the same realm as him? Fuck no.

Damn, we get some industry rumors and you guys want to shit on it? No wonder why the journalists don't report on alot of what goes on. This rumor wasn't made up by some clown on Vital in his parents basement, this rumor was brought to the masses by some pretty respected guys in the industry.

When I hear the word "Racer," James is not who pops into my head first. Alessi, now that kid is a racer. Poto? Racer. Racers race all year, not just SX.
So JT and PJ or what ever the guys name is throw BS out there and hope clowns like you run with it. As 99% of the responses here show, JS is very much respected and his decisions are his decisions. You nor the other ladies yappin about why or why not JS races mean absolutely nothing.

And are we not having the discussion you envisioned? You probably already know this, but the whole reason sponsors pay to plaster logos on racers is so that those logos are seen while they're racing. James has so far decided to keep putting his bike on the track, keeping his sponsors' logos visible, trying to collect as many points as possible... and if it turns out that he is trying to honor the rumored terms of one of his sponsors contract, you wouldn't respect that decision? Is that what you'd like to discuss?
Pardon me for being surprised that a top of the sport, multi-million dollar racer chose to risk injuring himself further and put winning races and a possible outdoor championship in 2013 aside just to "keep .. his bike on the track." You see, normally a top racer will immediately fix a serious injury when they have one so that they can come back and be competing for wins. Stewart has yet to show he's capable of riding with the top guys for 20 laps, something extremely odd coming from a rider of his caliber. This makes it sound quite possible that he's too injured to really be racing competitively and is only riding to complete four top 10's for a Red Bull check, only to drop out and miss the rest of 2013 racing. But perhaps all the poor decisions and lack of success he's had over the past few years made his bank accounts look mortal, and now he has to ride for cash instead of championships.

Obviously we only know the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Stewart, who prefers to keep the sport & fans scratching their heads regarding what the hell is going on with him. And then again, it might turn out being true that the injury was only minor and that he'll be back up to speed very soon. Last weekend was just back luck for him, so it is possible the injury is not that extreme.

Alessi has been a "rider" for half the year his entire pro career. He's never raced SX to win a title, he's always raced it in the "don't get hurt for the Nationals" mode. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but it definitely shows how stupid your reasoning is......

If that's the case, so what? You've pretty much nailed yourself as a jackass whose mind is made up whatever Stewart does.

Comments like these are what would make me lose respect for JS if he is indeed just racing for a check. Only time will tell if he really is in it for the long haul. I love to watch him ride but he's not the same James Stewart that used to do things on a bike that made you wonder how it even happened.

That's right, because there would've been no alternative, such as dropping out to immediately fix the knee and get ready for the outdoors. Oh wait...

For starters there is only 1 rider with more combined AMA pro SX/MX wins than Stewart
Stewart has 90 SX/MX wins and bonus' are rumored to pay 100g ea. = 9 million
Stewart has 5 SX/MX titles and they are rumored to pay 1 Mill ea. = 5 million
This is without ama race payouts and personal sponsors monies or factory contract 1 mill per yr.x 10 years = 10 million
Total earnings approx. 24 million

James still has the speed and I would have loved to see him 100%, I think shit would be really serious right now.

I hope he gets that legged healed up and and is able to make a run at the nationals. If not, then get surgery and come back strong.

I feel the same way. James is one of greatest and owes any of us nothing but if he wants to tweat out shit like this and not be able to race for wins and IS doing it for the check then it's a Douche move. If he's really trying then he's got bigger brass balls than I thought. Just be honest or stfu. And all you sack hangers need to stop saying he's damned if he does or damned if he doesn't. He needs to be honest and clear or just stop with the tweats.

He doesn't need to do anything. He knows there will always be a small portion of "so called fans" that have a problem with whatever he does, it has always been that way and always will. It will never change no matter what, guaranteed. He knows that.

I so hope James goes out there and smashes everyone this weekend, for one; Because if Poto continues to run away with it, it is going to get quite boring. I am not interested in watching a fuqing parade every weekend. I want to see RACING!! Two: To shut all the dumbfuqs on this site up!! I'm not hang'n from James' Sack. He is far from my favorite rider, but I respect the hell out of him and everyone else that lines up at a pro main.

And by the way, you my friend couldn't beat any of these pros if they were out there riding 85's.. so you have no place to state who is and isn't a "racer". Everyone of these guys haul ass, even those that just make the night show,... they're racers! Have you ever made the night show? Ever made a Main? Ever won a pro race? Ever won a national Championship as a pro? Maybe a national championship as an amateur?? ... yeah I thought so..

Then STFU!!!

I can't believe the comments in this thread, JS7 can't do right. Some get it.

If he was to stop riding because of injury, he would get shit for being a quitter. If he keeps riding, it's just "for a check".

Heaven forbid the guy gut it out and try to get paid.

Some act as if he is stealing money out of your bank account. He has contracts and is trying to live up to them to get paid. What an asshole he is! It isn;t like red Bull is going to pay someone else and James is robbing someones else's future.

He sends out a couple of very understandable tweets and everyone is crying for honesty? Sounds like he isn't giving up and is trying to ride through some adversity. Who is to say he isn't honest? I guess if he isn't 100% he should just pack it in? Every rider out there is riding for a check and to fulfill contractual obligations. The guy is trying to tough out some races and he potentially could be a douche in some eyes? LMAO.

What should he tweet? The specifics of his contracts with sponsors?

Chad Reed has proven this doesn't have to be the case. But I agree, if you've got an impeccable record like RC.. Get out before the fresh blood catch up. And Stewart would have got him in time.

You're right, that is no alternative. He would never be ready to be completly healed up AND trained to his peak in a few months time.

And if he bailes out or stays in 4 races to get his paycheck then it wil be his own and rightfully decision.
It's time some of these 12y old baggers put their emotions aside. It's time they stop bitching about how he should have quitted at his prime...did K-Dub quit at his prime? Nope, he tried to hang on as long as he could and had to let go eventually, i don't see anyone bitching about that. Must be because they like him. So that makes facts allot more clear to me, the bitching and moaning is all part of the 'JS7 hating game'.

Fans of the sport, yeah right...

You gotta think some of Stewart's long time sponsers are feeling a little bit empty handed by their return on investment over the last couple of years. Answer didn't stick around for one.

Somebody said he turned down a 7 figure gear deal to start his own gear company, I thought it was with Answer. Where did you hear Answer dropped him? As for his sponsors feeling empty handed, the amount of exposure he gets for his sponsors is ridiculous, and probably way more than he should considering how many wins he has the past few seasons. Pretty sure Oakley, Red Bull, Nike etc... would be gone if they were feeling empty handed.

So you lost a little respect because he's showing up to work and fulfilling a contractual obligation to his employer just like every other fucking person on this planet that has a job? Last time I checked people do shit to get paid. Having fun and enjoying what you do for a living is a perk, but we all show up to work to get paid..just like James.

Now go change your daiper bro..

Burnside, you really think Answer left him because of his results? You have proof of that or just throwing out some propaganda to support your bullshit? It doesn't matter if James is losing or crashing his brains out, as long as he's in this sport his marketablity is at the top regardless of what's happening. He's talked about everyday on this board, as well as every other MX forum. All the kids still like him and want his clothing, gear, goggles, graphics, whatever they can get their hands on. I bet if Nike sold his boots, them fuckers would be sold out in a day...
