CR ,JS and RD which one will be the first to start showing that they are back in the mix with the speed to challenge for the win and championship hunt.

Looks like all three of them are going to have a tough time just getting in the top 3.

RD - even though he looked covered by DM and TC at A1

Dungey. Reed looks a little off and James is hurt. Dungey has looked fastest of the 3 so far.

Huh he was right on Barcia's ass and 2 seconds off the lead at A1 before he went down in the corner. Phx was a night to forget howeverBlink

Reed. One of these weekends he's going to be on. It always takes him a few rounds to get going

x2. Wouldn't be surprised at a top 3 this weekend. Don't think he'll last the whole season but I do see him stepping up a bit.

Reed... I worry if he gets a bad start, falls over or has some other issues that give him a rotten finish, he'll be beaten mentally for a while. I do not know what the setup issues are, but if it's forks why not go to the prior year's forks and dial them in? Is the 13 Honda geometry that different from 12?

Edit..

2013 crf450
-Wheelbase: 58.7 inches
-Rake (Caster Angle): 27° 04’
-Trail: 116mm (4.57 inches)

2012 crf450
-Wheelbase...58.7 inches
-Rake (Caster Angle)...26°52'
-Trail...114.2mm (4.5 inches)

....either way barcia/canard seem to be ok with the new layout.

I just want to see good racing, with multiple winners, for the next 15 races.

It wouldn't surprise me if all 3 of them podium this weekend and it wouldn't surprise me if not a one of them podium.

JS7 is injured, so...he really is a wild card at this point. He might mix it up, but my bets are he'll push too hard and go down and hurt himself again. I'm not sure if James is capable of a conservative, damage control riding style. Its hard to be the king of the jungle while your in a cage.

As for Chad and Dungey, who knows... there is no way to know. I will say that Dungey's 2nd place LCQ finish showed a Ryan Dungey with no fire in his heart, at least to me anyway, for whatever that is worth.

the way i see it, even if the "big 3", as you call them, get on their game, they will still have a mountain of competition to climb to get race wins, let alone come home with a title. As far as championships go, I'd put my money RD5. He has the potential to make the least amount of mistakes, and in a field this tight, consistency is key.

Their major problems come in 4 flavors. Millsaps, Barcia, Canard, and Villopoto. these guys will be banging it out in the top 7 all year. And let's not forget the likes of Shorty, K-Dub, Jake Wiemer, and Justin Brayton, who, though clearly aren't favored for podium finishes, are capable of throwing a wrench in the sprocket at any given round.

The bottom line is this; Justin Barcia is the only guy in the 450SX class that has a right to feel relaxed right now. He's a rookie. ..and he's got serious speed and he knows it.

Those guys are young, young guys are easy with changes. Old guys don't like and don't gel good with changes.

About the topic itself. The veterans are more passive while the rookies are eager to prove themself. That and ppl like RV and RD had some mistakes that cost em. Seems like they need to find their 'grove' while the rookies don't care a bit about anything and just rip it all out. That's why i like watching the tope 250 guys, they always go all out. The more experienced rookies have that fine balance of agression and comfort. It is so awesome to watch. Cheerful We just have to wait a bit for the veterans to get their bikes and mindset dailed in.

I think that crash either hurt him or scared him...he seemed to be on damage control and maybe trying to get outta phoenix in one piece- he sure had a lesson on passing in the main and did a pretty damn good job all field considering-

If that guy gets a start he can race a track like nobody's biz so don't count him out or question his heart (I see him a bit differently aftyer the great outdoors episode)

James is going to win it tonight but only if RV pulls a boner on another inside start. I think he wants it, he's willing to hang it out as he knows he's on borrowed time anyway.
