There are a few ways to look at it I guess.

1.) Don's the the father that was trying to stick up for his boy..........what father wouldn't?

2.) At your place of work........if you had some guy trying to cause you harm every time you ran into him , and all you were doing was trying to be good at your job and be left alone.......wouldn't you try to get the other worker dismissed , fired....anything you could do to just get him away from you? It's your way of living.......you shouldn't have to put up with anyone trying to take that living away from you!

Micheal's job is racing bikes and VF tried to give him some mandatory time off. You guys know just as well as I do that nobody ( I mean nobody! ) has had as many on track shenanigans as VF has. There's been a few I guess that have come close.....but they aren't in the sport any more.

The only thing that throws a curve ball in all of this for is Don's son in law....and what he and his laywer are trying to do to GH. That completely sucks balls and not cool. AND Don has mentioned on here a bunch of times he doesn't only disagree with it....he despises it.

And Scott Champion?

Like I said. It's time to let Michael deal with his own issues.

I was thinking...No one really ever cleans this guy Friese out, and I mean, cleans him out good. Windham did it once, and RC and Emig were speechless. but other than that, no one really saws his front wheel off. So, maybe it's a bigger deal to the Vitards than it is to his competitors?? No? If it were such an issue, wouldn't he end up through the goal posts every round?

I really don't give a shit about Vince Friese, Scott Champion or Micheal Lieb, but people that sue tracks because of shit that they brought upon them selves really piss me off.

My takeaway from postings in this thread:

-If I ever need a manager, it won't be MX Manager.
-If I ever need an exhaust, it won't be a Rocket.
You pretty much sum'd it up.

Imagine if Mitch Payton and JImmy Button had it out like these two retards....on a public forum.....

Sorry but I have to disagree. It shouldn't be his issue to be targeted on the track and you keep saying he needs to handle his own issues. So he needs to get in a fight with someone because they're being a douche bag on the track? It shouldn't have to get there. We're all for aggressive riding, hate lawsuits and blah blah blah. But we shouldn't act like it should need to get to fist fighting for it to stop. Everyone's job as a professional racer is to race. They don't get paid to fight. And I say this because its not like they're going to have a sit down to hash it out. There will always be souche bags that aren't fast enough to beat someone so they'll dive bomb them. That's bs and I personally think promoters and track owners shouldn't let this bs happen over and over. It may not have happened at their track or there race yet, but after seeing the photos of the start(vf and ml) would you really wanna let someone that rides like that on your track? And now they can fully say that he is a liability. Again I don't like the lawsuit. Just sayin

The Champion deal happened when Lieb decided to talk bad about Champion on a social media website. If I'm wrong correct me, but that's how I remembered it at the track.

Holy crap. First there are a million threads about how everyone in the industry is so tight-lipped and cookie-cutter, then someone from actually inside the the industry like Don shares his thoughts, and all of a sudden he needs to 'concentrate on his own rider'?

As far as I'm concerned he has every right to speak up about Friese, and so should a lot of other riders. I can't comment on the Champion case as I don't know anything about it but I will say this. I have seen firsthand many times that a rider feels that he has the power and strength of a 1000 Roman emperors when he's on an MX track and starts piledriving riders like there is no tomorrow. Why in hell would an intentional take-out on an MX track from some lunatic like that be any different from an assault in every day life?

If a guy on the street knocks your teeth out, would you be ok with that? I don't think so. But when someone on a motocross track T-bones another guy breaking 4 bones in his body, suddenly it's called 'aggressive racing'. Give me a fucking break.

Did you even read the paragraph? I was talking about the act of intentional take-outs in general.

I understand that Don is not the one who has put a lawsuit into place. But it was one of his crew that did.

As I have said earlier, he should lay low and let this issue die, and continuing to play attack dog in the internet is making him and his company not fair so well in the industry. His son is a big boy (and a very good rider at that) and it's time for daddy and the posse to let Michael address any issues with other riders by him self, on the track.

Bandwagons are over rated, and some here need to think before jumping on one.
Michael lived and rode in Europe for two years on his own. I`m sorry if I misunderstood your point, but to me Michael Lieb is far from a "daddy`s boy". But I see nothing wrong with his dad defending his son on a heated topic.

Also, I think it is unfair to judge Don and Michael for a lawsuit they have no part in, one which they have distanced themselves from.

I was pretty much ignoring this thread, but then was wondering how the hell there could be a 7 pager on Vince fricking Friese... Very entertaining. Just wish I would have checked it out before posts were deleted, lol.

Don brought all of this on himself because he won't let it go. Running his mouth off about how Vince was willing to pay 150k to be part of someones team, and there were no takers shows pure emotion and no logic.

I don't believe it to be true, but i can assure you that there are a lot of teams out there that would love to be offered that deal.

Question:: Did Gene grab Frieses helmet before Vince headbutted him? or Vice versa?
One more thing: To be down on a starting line( before a fairly big local money race), I would consider that person to be a bit of a Motohead...which means to me that he is not just a casual fan, but a participant in the sport of motocross. That being said....To sue a track is just taboo. You just don't do it under any circumstance, and I certainly would not be associated with anyone who did. He is already suing Genova...leave Glen Helen alone.

Especially if Gene initiated contact....just make your medical payments like a big boy and be responsible for what you started.

I personally do not condone Vince's actions on the track, and he certainly has to be aware of his reputation. Perhaps he will change his ways this season. Racing is racing, but going out of your way to take someone out instead of moving forward while battling(for 8-20th) for positions is not racing. Many of the incidents have actually happened in practice, which to me is inexcusable.

I think a good percentage of us feel this exact same way.

This is the second time this family name has come up and been associated with the law. Even if it's not "them" it is a future son in law that was with them and Don constantly poking at the Friese sore does nothing good for him.

Jim, how do you take care of it on the track, short of stooping to their level and assaulting the other guy on/with your motorcycle? Doesn't seem like a good move to me. Who can blame Michael for just wanting to run his race and ride clean? I applaud him for that.

If I remember correctly start of it was when Friese pushed Don and that`s why Gene got in to Friese`s face.

So what is the answer to the question? Gene initiated contact? These guys are pros...one person goes to the gate with the racer. Better sue Glen Helen for letting more than one person go to the gate with racer too while we are at it. The track is NOT a baby sitter.

This fight happened 2 feet in front of me and I gave my report to the police...Let's say VF over reacted. For a guy that was 60 seconds away from a moto, he wasn't looking out for his career. One punch was enough to handle what was going down, but he drilled this guy Gene again, when he was looped from the first one!
Only a moron throws punches when they are behind the gate for a good $$$ race.

[b]As Vince's agent I can tell you this is Incorrect. vince has three wonderful offers this year and accepted a wonderful offer and is very grateful to those professionals involved. Mr Lieb take my 25 years of industry advice. Focus on the brilliance of your son and your great product. You do not have to blow out another's candlelight in order to shine yourself. You will find greatness in belief but you will find nothing but sadness in attack. Live love and laugh and enjoy the ride. Concentrate on what you want and not what you don't . Only then will you receive. May god bless you and your family and help you see the right path. I do not wish you harm but I have to tell you statements like this are slander and ask you desist in such behaviour towards Vince otherwise I will have to legally enforce you comply which is not what I would prefer happened take this with Love and understanding. .

Allison, thank you for the kind words and the wonderful advice. For the record I am very sure that you offered 6 figures to a team to take your basket case. Threaten me all you want. Friese us a POS and should not be allowed to hold a license to race a motorcycle. That's my opinion and many others on this board and professional racers. I told him to his face as he threatened my son the same thing I'll tell you..... He is a hazard to the sport and has no business on a motocross or SX track. Sue me!
Does anybody see the pattern our fellow member DL has created? Finding a kid who beats his son and starts a confrontation at the track, ending up in himself getting the short end of the stick. Followed by bashing on vitalmx.com. Ain't nobody got time for that. Don, a little bitter you haven't found a team to take your "basket case". Shouldn't you be building your sons cheater motor for A1?

Actually, Leib smoked Friese in moto 1 so badly his bike was on the stand before Friese finished.

I don't give a shit either way, but don't let facts get in the way of a good story, as they say.

edit: i really like the "cheater motor" line though. That's good shit. I love a good 167cc
