Great episode.
I agree it is a shame that Troy had to pay to show it,just shows how small a market our sport appeals to.
I fear we're going to lose his talents to HBO haha... getting 'paid' to make films on football players or something.

How did Fuel get so crap anyway? Used to be rad. Fuck Ultimate fighting or what ever that homoerotic male spooning sport is called. haha.

Sorry for not posting anything lately. This whole disaster in Newtown has kept me more focused on other things. Plus every time I turn on the computer that is all I see. But I am going to be doing The Moto for you guys tonight. So it will be up most likely in the morning but maybe sooner. I didn't want you to think I forgot about you!

Yea, such a bummer, man there is some f'ed up people in this world. (not that i want to bring that debate into this thread) just send some positive thoughts and prayers to CBM, he is a good dude.

I never heard the story about Ryan bugging Decoster for 1 year to give him a shot prior to the signing. That is pretty cool stuff. Ryan is a good kid with some serious talent and drive. Dungey's dad is cool as well and looks to be a pretty "motivating" influence in Ryan's life. Love how Ryan stated that his dad "scares" him. Dude looks like a fairly intimidating presence for sure.
Troy & Michelle are good people & regular folks, that there son just happened to hit it big. Wink

+1 on that Scottie. Such a terrible day. I'm actually still in shock about it , and I didn;t know any of the people who got killed , nor do I live there.

Back on schedule........The last show on the Moto inside......was extremely cool. Great story on RD and his girlfriend , family and others in his community. That "type" of episode was actually really cool to see in light of what happened last week in Conn.

I was at Mammoth when Ryan raced his first pro race and he gave MC all he could handle coming straight from the B class. Since then I've been a fan. How could any parent not want their kids to look at him as a role model.

And Troy should get an award for this series, easily the best stuff I've ever watched regarding the true life of motocross.

Wow, that was one amazing episode! Kinda makes me wonder if the producer had a subtle agenda with this season: showcase the dark side and absurdity of the sport, including a handful of parents trying to turn their kid into the next RC, then end it off with an unsuccessful but ridiculously internally motivated amateur who is now a professional superstar.

I thought it was extremely awesome how persistent Dungey kept pursuing Suzuki, then to hear the story of Roger finally watching him ride lol. It is interesting his self-concept as a racer has not changed much from when he was a B-amateur. I've heard it is not uncommon for people to perceive themselves in adulthood and others treated them in teenage years.

Dungey is a stud no doubt. If you replace his two DNF's in 2011 with top five finishes he would have won the last 5 out of 6 450 championships.

He is a Badass and great for the sport. He can even do a suicide shift mid-air and never quits.I'm a #22 fan , Dungey is my #2 guy.He has been under rated IMO.Maybe not anymore.

Yeah I think that's a fair call...

RC pressured Stewart, made him say uncle more times than not.

I just can't picture Dungey being one to play up in a class room. Although, being from Minnesota, he probably wasn't even that bad, lol.

Brilliant Episode on Dungey, his dedication and desire is something else. Probably my favourite rider atm.

You can see the difference in attitude to him and a guy like Izzi and the consequences for both over the last few year despite having similar talent.

Did you notice that Ryan got serious after the passing of his Grandma, who was very close to him? Just goes to prove humans can achieve great things when they are motivated to do so. If you have a young son who you may think he has a chance at something great find a way to motivate them. Don't try to give them everything to make it easier but instead teach them to want it. But don't kill their grandma, ha, ha.

Anybody notice how much more successful the Ryans and RC are, with normal down to earth parents?

Making Dungey go to school and make up his homework goes a LONG way in making a responsible person.

Thanks to Marc,
Great Episode, always been a fan of Dungey, now more so, going to public school, in this day of kids home schooled, and living yr round at MTF or w/e,is impressive and shows it can still happen , the key is motivation and confidence, the mental aspect is the biggest part imo, even a guy Like Dungey still doubts his own ability, that was RCs key to success, sure he trained like a madman, and rode the best bikes, but he was mentally strongest, knowing when he lined up, he could beat every one else on the line.

Just watched Ryan's episode, lets just say i have a new found respect for him. I would like to see the story of Jo-Jo Keller,I was amazed at Unadilla, I think it was 87-88,he was wearing a purple sweatshirt and was like 250 +lbs and embarrassing many factory riders.

Any advice on this Gary? I have an exceptional athlete (runner). I want to support and encourage but not ruin it. A fine line for sure.

I think my man love for Dungey just clicked into another gear. I am just astounded at how mature he is for his age, and really always have been since he came onto the scene.
12/20/2012 12:17pm
I think the lesson we need to take away from this season is that if the person is incredibly motivated, they have a chance to make it as a racer. Too many parents heap tons of external pressure on their kids to "make it big" when so few actually do.

Great to see this as the last installment. Good job Troy, your work has grown much more professional through the years.

To God be the Glory,..better things are on the horizon.,..

Dungey is a great competitor and a real man,.he trains hard, rides hard and gets awesome results. One of the all time best, on track and off. Ride on brother...

Wink you noticed that too?? Laughing
Ya gotta know Roger thought about that a few times....

I think both Ryans are exceptional athletes and are great for our sport. Both are fierce competitors on the track, yet race clean. Feel for Ryan that he still gets teared up at the thoughts of his grandma. He must've had an enormous amount of love and respect for that lady. God bless his heart...
