My 74 CR250 got raced about twelve times a year from 92-95. Then some from 98-01 when I tore it apart, modded the hell out of it and raced it about 16-18 times a year for a few more years. Haven't been riding much lately but put four motos and a TT race on it a month or so ago. Best part about a vintage bike is even after 18 years now it is still one of the most competitive bikes in the class. Never have to buy a new bike, just keep this one alive.....which at times can be costly.

80 model CR125 we thrashed in original condition with a few suspension upgrades for 8 years before we tore it apart and went completely through it. Oldest son rides it mostly now. Hauls ass! Lots of motos on it.

My 81 YZ250 I put together at the end of 04. Great bike but feels down on power for an 81 model. I need to dig into the engine and get it up to par with the rest of the bike.

Newmann, Are those pics taken at North Forty?

Newman, is the stroke the same on the '81 vs '80 YZ250? My G model was a rocket.Got a "G" top end you could slip on it?

I really like that yz250 you have there, my dad had one like that when I started racing......and best of all it already has my number on it.

Har

I'm only counting the ones that are finished
I have 8 others here in pieces.
They don't count until they're running

Prior to moving south, had over 25 bikes...whittled it down to 16 so I am now "below average"..
I try to get a half-dozen or more Vintage races in every year and some vintage trials on my RL. Here is a good rider, 82 CR250...with the 480 seat cover to throw everyone off...

Using ALL the suspenion at Mid-O a few years back...

My "new" 1981 YZ250 in 1981.....Canal Fulton Ohio HS

My "New" 1981 YZ in 2010...I am now getting it ready for Gainesville AHRMA race next month for X-country and Moto..

My vintage Elsinore 125 is even fun in the mud...Hardrock 2007

At one time I had 3 Maico 490's a 81' 82' & 83', I had to sell the 82' to make a house payment.

So I just have the 81' & the project 83' I wish I had kept the 82' as it had a killer motor!

I race the 81' about 15 times a year & about the same amount of practice rides.

I have a few vintage minis. (You know for the kids) haha. Plus it keeps Lee and Kevin from coming down and beating on them because they are just too big.

1979 KX80's
1981 YZ80
1976 MR50
1982YZ60's
1984RM80
1980YZ125 my vintage big bike
etc etc etc

I raced a YZ60 two years ago at a vintage race and had a blast plus I rip around on them when we go pitbiking.

I was talking with Billy Liles yesterday and we were talking about the ol' 2strokes and vintage racing from then and today. He is REALLY hooked on racing vintage stuff and will be racing an upcoming event in texas. that got me thinking of how many people today actually have a vintage bike and If you do, how often is it rode/raced if at all???
A very nice Billy Liles 1984 SR 250 replica that Bill Clem built.

I've got an '85 KX250 I'm trying to get together for Budd's Creek in April.

From the AMA Hall of Fame Site. Jeff Ward's 1985 KX250. Looks more like a 1986 prototype. The 85 had a rear drum brake different front/rear style. Bad ass bike though.

Just missed buying this one. All original. Darn it!

Up until recently I had a really nice 1974 Husqvarna 250CR Mag that I'd totally restored, except I used as many pseudo-modern parts to replace stock parts as I could manage. It was my favorite bike when I was a "serious" racer back in the day...but takes a small fortune to buy parts for and keep up as a race bike toda.

Thinking seriously about putting together a 1996 Honda CR250 MC replica, or a 1980 Honda CR250 soon!

Would be mine. Friends of Donnie from Minnesota traded those to me for some items to put in their annual benefit auction. The goal is to have them framed for my personal little moto museum.

I've got 30+ and only 2 are "Modern" which are a '92 CR500 and a '99 YZ125. Everything else is vintage/PV, and mostly European, '79 Honda CR250 is the only Jap vintage/PV bike I have. I just picked up this one a few weeks ago at the ISDT Reunion Ride in Tulsa:

'82 Husqvarna 250XC

The bike I rode at the ISDT Reunion Ride, my '72 Penton 100.

In process. Really just need a few bits plated (that I've been sitting on for about six months) before full assembly
