Do any of you know whether or not taking off the crossbar will make them so weak that they shouldnt be ridden with? I figure it would make them the same as the fatbar. Am I right?

And for the guy who has been through 3 pairs and always removes the crossbar, why not just buy fatbars?? Probably cheaper as well.
They DO make fatbars, that are over $20 cheaper..Sorry Bayo, but you seem like you should be a little more knowledeable with this, bad advice dude. some dude takes a crossbar half to the eye and thats not good.
renthal obviously spen a lot of money engineering this bar, if they were asking for backyard answers for more flex because you get some stiffness in one random part of the track (that is probably from your shot suspension more than your handlebars), they would just tell you the obvious; buy fatbars.
I contacted Renthal about this and they said removing the crossbar is fine. They told me the difference in flex between a normal twinwall and a fatbar is 6%. When you remove the crossbar that difference is reduced to 1%.
Logic - 100% sound. Don't f*ck about with products, buy the one that suits, straight from the box.
Buy a set of bars that suit what you want. They are something you don't want to screw around with.

just think, renthal puts out "help wanted" ads for sales reps too. some johnny pencil pusher told you its ok to take the cross bar off and theyre stil the strongest bars on the market because he is paid to say that.
Q 3: If the handlebar is so strong why does it need a cross brace?
A: The handlebar will run quite successfully without a cross brace. However, the addition of a cross-brace turns a very strong handlebar into an immensely strong handlebar.
Havent tried it myself (thinking about it though), but they say its more flexible and kind of reduces arm pump..
