Last seen doing 95mph heading for Vegas with those bunnies standing through the sunroof of a Grand Vitara, donning a circa 1998 Shift leisure suit, collar fully popped.

Doing movies?Grinning

On a serios note, as Big mentions, he had concussions, and the last one was pretty severe (he was hospitalized?) An interview a few years back, and he was still suffering pretty bad, vision problems, memory loss(?) concentration issues (?) I think he still rode for fun once in a while, but took it damn easy. Can't remember the details obviously (no concussion on my part though). Despite the problems, I cant imagine the fear of mounting a back again.

Always seemed like a very cool no frills kinda rider. Like he wanted to show up, do the work, and not get caught up in any of the off the track bs. I remeber hearing (I think) that the shift ad made him fairly uncomfortable, which I thought was funny.
Was it the RM cup where he ripped his hand open and kept motoring? I remember a photo where his glove was soaked through with blood. Dude was a brute.

He was damn fast at times and had a lot of upside. I'm sure he can sleep well at night knowing that he was up there with the top dogs in mx for awhile. How many of us can say that?

Hepler had tough competition his whole career. He had to race Stewart from 50s up till pro.
And he finished second to Stewart in Lites outdoor in 2004 when he got rookie of the year. Dude had a hell of a run.

Retired, with a heap of concussions, but not before accomplishing some pretty decent stuff, including a 3rd at New Orleans SX, with Reed 2nd and JS7 1st.... not many can say that they shared a podium with those guys!! :D

I bet most people around Hepler at school or whatever he does probably don't even know anything about his accomplishments. He looks like a modest guy who wouldn't even use his former status to pull chicks. Whatever the case, he was a great rider.

Didn't Milhouse bail and take out Hepler once injuring him near the end on a 450? Complete bad luck I think.

yea, just gotta wonder how good he might've been without injuries... although i guess everyone probably wonders how good Travis Pastrana could've been also!! Smile

Hepler seemed a bit stronger outdoors. Wish we could have seen more of what he can do in the 450 class.

I always wondered if the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center that studied Hepler`s head was just too cautious with him and if he should have just raced. Since then, they also worked with Sidney Crosby and he needed tons of time to recover. I`m sure he was in good hands there and made good decisions about his injury.

If that place got ahold of Pastrana they would be shocked...

hahaha yea i bet they would be!!!

True that.

Does anybody else find him walking away from the sport when he could have continued to race admirable? I do.

Here is a funny thought: if that photo in the Shift ad is the most comfortable appearing Hepler they shot that day, imagine what the other photos look like! lol

Yeah, and imagine how much better his results would have been if he didn't have to ride those gawd awful early RMZ-250's. He had a few DNF's from those things melting down on him.

There will be a #60 out on the track for the 2013 season if that helps any.

Do you know where I can get a copy of that photo? I have been searching for a long time to find it again. I thought it was a great picture
