Someone asked me if I knew anything about this event last week.
Let me know if they need an announcer.

That's alright, I'm just as old because that is what I thought at first too.

This will be anything but a "flat-track" though.......hate to disappoint RV's grandpa.
Cool

This is the first time for this event but RPM does a great job with their races so it should be fun.

yea, $620 for a two day race. no possible way to do a 3 moto format that I can see. I really wanted to do this but I'm not so sure now. how long do all the promoters think this can go on?

Gate fee and a camping fee for primitive camping?

$60 per class?

Yet another cash grab.

As far as the pricing goes, everything costs more now......nobody is happy about it.
I'm not sure what else you can say about that.

As soon as a promoter attaches the word 'National' or 'championship' to an event, the price automatically doubles- you should know this

RPM once charged for "primitive camping" even if your were not camping. Mrs. McWilliams told me that I was using a spot in her parking lot. The gate fee only covered personal entry, if I was pitting I'd be paying the camping fee.

I notice now they are calling it a "park use/ camping" fee. So I'd expect to pay that even if using a hotel.

Like that one kid in 125C that pins the throttle as soon as the 30sec board person picks it up ?!?!

God I LOVE that kid ! ! !

I am with you, will be hitting up the best track in Illinois that weekend in Walnut for a 2 day D17 weekend for about 1/3 the cost.

Not trying to twist anyones arm here just letting folks know about an event.
If it isn't for you that's cool.

I'm sure there are good local races going on everywhere.

Sounds like a cool event and its only a few hours from my house but I probably won't attend due to the cost. Curious to see how many people show up with prices like that?
8/21/2012 7:08pm
The track looks awesome, and really close to my house to. If I was healthy and it was cheaper I'd be there. Can't forget about a dollar for the race order, (that's to all tracks, not specifying this place.)

When did you get hurt man?

For the general thread comments:
Unfortunately everything cost more to do now, especially if you don't own the track where the race is.
When you own the property you can set whatever prices you want for camping etc...figuring costs/ upkeep of course.
Putting on bigger events has associated bigger costs.....again everything costs more now than it used to.
Price out a couple thousand gallons of diesel fuel and then realize that in a month it's probably going to increase by 4-5%.

Now I know that means every person racing has more expenses as well but that shouldn't stop people from trying to grow the sport with new events.

Shit, I thought I would get off cheap in September. Thinking that Hunting and Fishing Days $1200 to win Goose Calling Contest was the same weekend, MX would be nixed. Guess I need to rethink my plans.

With the economy how it is, I understand how some things rise in expense. When the cost of Object A rises, leads to B Rising, and C etc. Sounds like a great track though. I've had a torn meniscus and a tear in my ACL since my first regional and winged it until LL and I've caused more damage.

All this F/T talk just reminds me that I was VERY lucky to have guys like Eklund, Pearson and Castro tech me how to "Throw it out there"...

I remember them telling me,"You motocrosss kids are such PUSSIES! Gawd! Why do you ALWAYS slow down like a girl when you go thru a flat turn?"

Then they'd set-up some barrels and just RIP around them on YZ465s...then, make me get out there on my 125, Put a "Double-Leader front brake" on ALL my bikes. Taught me how to OWN the 1st turn at Saddleback and beat the hell out the Team Green riders down there...on my YAMAHA!

Really, Really...good times.

Damn.

Makes me really miss Steve.
