The group that's charged with making the boots also makes custom shoes for Tiger Woods. Apparently they go through many more versions trying some come up with something perfect for Tiger.

I was up there with the head of that group. Working on stuff as well. Guy did you get a chance to go to the Nike Campus and check out the innovation places.

Uh, bad move on that dude... FYI, from what I heard in the interview with the guy that helped design/ build those boots the guy could be charged with alot more than just petty theft based off their extremely high value....

Those boots are now in a private collection where only cigar smoking aficionado's are going to see them, all sworn to secrecy and the enjoyment of fine expensive cigars....theft for hire is a big business!!!

They're difficult to get because of who private labels them for 'em. And probably a few other reasons Im going to speculate on:

Those boots dont last long from what Im told. Just a few rides. So they cant be that hard to get ahold of because they must be in constant supply.

I would imagine they simply dont give him a huge stockpile of them. If James only has a few pairs in his possession at a time, they are easier to keep track of. Way too much R&D money put into those things for them to come up missing.

I imagine every pair needs to be returned after being worn out for evaluation by Nike/TCX.

All that hassle is probably what James was referring too. In every other part of his racing he's given a fair supply of stuff and inventory isnt with-held or monitored so closely. Think worx tires and whatnot. The process with Nike is probably something completely different than anything else in his program with exception to his factory motors and his mechanic handles that process for him.

I don't even see how it's a success for nike to have a hand in these boots. They really aren't making me more inclined to buy nike shoes or t shirts, they don't make mx gear, and the boots are only available to two riders on the planet anyways.
