Christope Pourcel to America confirmed?

watching the gps this year i think he will have a rough go at it here in the states. Seems to get good starts and battles for half the race with desalle and AC but fades to 3 or 5 late in the motos. Dont know if its fitness or issues with his body from his bad crash but for sure two series ,sx and mx will take its toll.

I don't think he's taking his racing over here particularly seriously myself. He seems more concerned with charity days and starting his 377 brand. I don't think he feels he has anything to prove to anyone and hasn't seemed particularly focussed on winning the championship since he came back. He looks blazingly fast on some tracks but the rest of the time he just kind of plods along.

That said, you could really tell that he was out to prove something in the last race in Saint Jean d'Angeley last year. He was on a mission. After such a shit year finally it was going to be his time to shine and win the trophy for France in front of his home crowd. Unfortunately that damn moose tire ruined what would have been an epic finale.

I love watching Cristophe ride, most of the races I find myself watching how he takes one particular rut or line with the mouth open out of amazement.

Pourcel is one of the elite riders, and it would be great for the racing here to have him back in the states. The stuff that comes with him, whatever that is, doesn't affect me one way or another, so why bother worrying about it. It's his life, not mine. There's all kinds in the world, and mostly all that could possible matter to me happens between the drop of the gate and checkered flag. He's a pretty good dude to have on the track then, whether you like him or not.

This makes sense, he just hasn't seemed like the same rider since his PC days. I hope he can get back to the way he was, it would really make the season great with him in the mix.

I think (from what I've read/remember)Tickle had a two year contract but was pointed out, and Mitch was honouring his contract. Be interesting to see if he keeps that spot open now Tickle's original contract is up.... or if he'd put another rider on there.

We understand your opinion of Pourcel but these questions are stupid.

He's won a GP this year so he's proved he a race winner in 2012.
2010
ran 4 motos then retired for the year
I don't go to the gym with him so I don't know. Good enough to run top 3 in the GPs.
Won a GP
never. When has Chad Reed?
nobody's raced all those guys at the same time.

What did we learn from those questions?

"When has he ever beaten Villopoto straight up in a title championship?"

When has anyone?
No one? Well, everyone should just quit and kill themselves.

EDIT: Results website isn't working, can't remember if he made it through 09 SX

Weird isn't it.

in all that time I've been following the sport I can't think of a single rider I've ever taken a dislike to. But then, NateDawg often makes it clear he is one of the more 'patriotic' Vital members shall we say.

The only thing that concerns me about Pourcel is that he doesn't fulfill his potential, but his life defining injury and losing those x2 outdoor championships the way he did has probably changed his mental focus and thats sad to concede

Pourcel is a genuine, class act,he got things figured out well after getting off the YZ and back on green bikes,he struggled in the GPs too at first but as jamma says he was definately hauling ass in France before that DNF,passing Dungey on the way.If he goes over just I'd appreciate it and be glad of another guy in the mix but if he does well don't be too sour,

Your stupid bitching and trolling is probably better off kept at YouTube NateDawg122,NATERIDER122 or whatever, hope you enjoy your dinner, weather its tripe or birdseed Cool

I don't think that tweet necessarily confirms he is returning to race in the USA. Perhaps he is just going over to do some riding?

Pourcel is fast and has great technique. It would be interesting to see him race in the US again, but he does add a lot to the GP's currently. Given his past results, I think it is crazy to say he could no longer be competitive in the US - talent is talent. I am a supporter of both series' and will enjoy watching him race wherever he chooses to.

The spot was made for Tickle because Kawi didn't want him under the factory tent. Mitch said he was given additional funding to run his own 450 program. Now that Tickle's contract is fulfilled I would fully expect that spot to go away unless Mitch can hire a top rider for a salary that someone else picks up the tab for.

He hasn't proven anything since 2009!!! Dungey, Villopoto, and company have gotten a lot better and IMO Pourcel has gotten worse. With everyone healthy I highly doubt he would win a single moto. Back three years ago I would never make that statement but he just isn't the same man anymore. I stand by what I said, if he isn't regularly winning the GP's he doesn't stand much of a chance over here. I mean look what happened to Roczen!
Pourcel knows the tracks/system/heat. Roczen is still learning, he is not doing as well as I thought, but he is still doing ok. Pourcel is a...

Proven in the 2009 and 2010 SX and motocross seasons.
2 years since supercross, doesn't really matter. He will have plenty of time to prepare.
When he came back to the nationals he was a a POS yamaha. Enough said.
He has won several motos and overalls in the GPs since returning.
Where did you see me say he beat Villiopoto in a championship?
He has never had to race all those guys at once, point being? It's not like he hasn't had to compete against fast guys before.

I do agree though RV win-loss record in championships is knarly. Won every lites outdoor championship he contested. He's 2-2 in 450 SX and 1-0 Outddors on the fo-fiddy. I guess you could count it in 2009 he won Glen Helen before a previously injured knee let go. I wouldnt count that though.

i bet dungey and canard have alot more respect for the talent of christophe pourcel than any of the xenophobic idiots on here!
xenophobic ? Is that someone who doesn't like Xeno?

I got no problem with him. He's even on this thread.

Seems like a decent chap ....

Now it all starts to unravel,

Michael Leib takes Joel Roelants CLS ride
Roelants has to move up to MX1 and CP377 team because he becmes over 23 years old
Pourcel moves to Monster energy Kawasaki
Due to this seat is vacated as Villipoto has signed for 22 Motosports

not sure why you think he would have them 'covered' - he's had some pretty good battles with cairoli in previous seasons. MX1 is stacked with talent this year. Thing is with pourcel, he wont go faster than he feels safe riding (he always rides within his limits) got to respect that when he's had such serious inuries. There has been times this season when he's just not been able to run the pace of cairoli/desalle/paulin/de dyker/philleparts its a very fast group this year. theres also been times when he's been untouchable!

As far as how he would do in the states? the fact he was pretty much equal to canard and dungey when he raced them outdoors and he's won a supercross champs when rv was in the same class would tell you he should be near the front on a bike he's happy with. He's a top 3 rider on either side of the pond.

As far as who he's riding for? rumours that he's gona be riding on his own team in sx and outdoors, with pro circuit support. Offers from JWR and few others by all accounts.

I'd like to see him go back to the states- he will be a threat for race wins indoors and out on a decent bike. How cool would it be to see pourcel, trey, dungey, reed an RV go at it for a full season indoors and out?! That would be some epic racing!
As good as Pourcel is, he has never been as good as Cairoi in Europe. Same deal with Cairoli and Rattray or Cairoli and Searle. The Italian is the best MX1 GP rider we have had in nearly 10 years, although. I would give just Roczen a slight edge, but then again maybe not. What might be the battle of the MXoN will be Herlings versus Cairoli.

Man the guy must miss Florida he posted this Photo on Facebook

Or he misses this?

Does anyone think a Non Factory effort like CLS would support 3 top 10 riders on a 450?
i mean Pourcel says he is on a bike with Production parts
on other notes its funny this thread turned from me expressing how i wish a very fluent rider would come and race the American Nationals turned into how much better of a person and rider Ryan Villopoto and Ryan Dungey is

40% moto win average in the Nationals

He'll be better off racing in America...

Your US National Statistics are from "Back in the Day" on a 250 riding for Mitch.

Your GP Stat's are from "Now"...aka...a 450.

"Static" analysis doesn't work.

"Dynamic" does.
My stats are MX2 + MX1 results v AMA National 250 + 450 results! 10% - 40% he knows where he can win more...
