My 2012/2001 CR125

Edited Date/Time 12/23/2013 1:01pm
I got the bike from a kid who knew absolutely nothing about dirt bikes and had the bike all beat up. I took it home, rode it and knew it needed a top end so I tore it all down and started the project.

ENGINE-
Wiseco high comp. piston
Boyesen Reed system
Ported and polished head
FMF Exhaust System

INTAKE-
Modified air box
UNI air filter

BODY-
Black Powder Coated rims and hubs.
2012 CRF250R Plastics and graphics
Cut and fiberglassed shrouds for fit
ASV Levers
Renthal Fatbars
D.I.D. Chain
Renthal Sprockets
New Team Honda seat cover

The plastics didnt line up perfect but its pretty close. I will put up better pics if you guys want.

Very nice bud.

However, one thing that I have noticed on the rear fenders.

It seems as though when guys put the 2012 rear fender on an older bike, they point up really high. Could just be me though.

that has to be the gayest thing i have seen on vital yet.. seriously. i mean you probably had to bend the subframe and take it to a machine shop with your buddy and put everything together. let me guess you drilled holes in the subframe? Smile

Yeah, I saw a kid on YouTube his was pretty pointed up. It is a little but the way it sits on the stand It's not like that. I sits pretty straight from It's own weight.

The 2000 and 2001 CR125s had good handling and suspension but the biggest dud of an engine I ever rode. One of proud Honda's biggest failures. I vaguely recall that the guys in Japan were putting on cylinders from a 1998 CR125 to breath life back into it.

It looks pretty sweet. I bet it cost a lot less than a Service Honda too.

Please post larger photos. I'm interested in seeing how well the modern plastic fits. I may end up doing the same on my 2000.

Yeah I will take some better pictures tomorrow. I took these today with my smartphone. The fender isnt really all that upward when it sits on flat ground. The way the bike sits on the stand has a lot to do with it.

Haha. I saw that you were both from Illinois and figured you must either know each other or 171motocross was a complete arsehole. Having seen some of the stuff people write on here, I thought it could have been either way.

Are you talking semantics? It's pretty easy to know what he meant. Usually if someone gets their 2 banger "ported and polished", it's just a term for having their exhaust and intake ports cleaned up...

Ports are in the cylinder guys. Nice ride! My first big bike was an 01 cr125. It ended up a 134 and I always loved riding it.

I second that. Looks great. I purchased the plastic for my cr125, hope it looks as good as yours. As for a turd of a 125, " I don't think so". I remember 80cc riders going faster than125cc expert class riders. 90 percent rider, 10 percent bike. Heck you see 125cc vet riders winning against 450 riders. Looks great, ride it. Heck Villopoto, Reed, Dungey, Stewart could win on a Briggs/Stratton.

Hey anyway you can shoot me an email so I can pick your brain a bit more about how you went about mounting everything up on the plastics conversion here? Feel free to email me at shelbypaget@gmail.com

Thanks!
