Dungey coming back from injurie and James with his own issues...... hard to call but I will say Dungey!

Dungey fitness will be a plus but the raw speed of stewie ( if he dont crash) is hard too match. My money is on stewart.

Its hard to tell without seeing them out there. Hell, I know a few other riders that may have an edge on both but how do we know!

This is probably the most accurate statement. Who knows. My guess: RD.

I'll take Stewart for the win, Alex.

Nobody in today's premier class can run with James, if his confidence is intact and he keeps it on two wheels.

Depends on how many times the Suzuki breaks down Smile

I believe Dungey can run Stewart's pace outdoors and is more consistent, so RD will win it.

As much as i wish james would start out with a win at hangtown i really dont think it is possible. I think Dungey will start out strong with a few wins, then stewart will get his outdoor mojo back and take over the rest of the outdoor season and win the title.

The thing to remember is that Stewart gets 1st or 15th, Dungey gets 1st or 3rd. Dungey forces the competition to be on their game each and every week and when the competition cracks Dungey makes up huge points.

No telling, but I think it might be like the Stewart vs. Reed battle of 2009.

I do think we will see Stewart on a different bike though. I just can't imagine him deciding to race the Yamaha with the way him and it have been getting along this year.

How long will it take for James to get back into racing motocross though?

I'd say the upper hand will go to Ryan.

That's what I'm thinking. Three years is a long time.

Cairoli rides 350. Only one on a Dungey replica is Big Ken.

Neither are on the new 450 right ? Neither of those riders are Dungey, he may have issues with the bike after coming off a factory Zook ? Am I insane to think this or something ?

Stewart needs to prove he can race and finish a moto without crashing to be considered better than Dungey. Obviously James has that raw speed and talent factor but Dungey is so consistent. Should be awesome to watch if it pans out.

Stewart will have the upper hand first moto, then second moto dungey will take that with stewart fading hard.

I'm going out on a limb and say Stewart will win unless he crashes. I know that's a bold prediction, but that's what I feel in my gut.

Does #7 still have the raw speed so many of you are referring to??
3 years away from the outdoors is a long time.
Guess we'll see if he can keep it on 2 wheels at speed for 30+2 X 2 starting @ Hangtown.
Hope he's there.

The obvious answer is "Dungemeister" -- last time these foos raced, Dungey pulled out by about 10 seconds by the end. His fitness is likely improved since then, he has more speed experience from racing RV, and James has (presumably) only gotten softer and rustier.

BUT, the KTM...it'll probably be fine for winning a championship, but will Ryan be as comfortable going fast as he was on the Suzuki? And if Bubba's fitter than we think he'll be, he could surprise. And his wrist may have still been bugging him at Unadilla 2010 (and now it could be his hand).

I don't think confidence will be an issue for either of them. They're both relieved that they won't be racing RV, and I think Dungey thinks he can handle Stew and Stew thinks he can handle Dungey (if he can get comfy).

Anyway, I expect Dungey to win. Certainly the title, if James sticks around, but also any given race. If James isn't fit or comfortable early in the season, hopefully he fixes things before we get too far into this and "keeps pluggin' away."

I refuse to get too much of a stiffie thinking about this battle until I A) have any f-ing idea what Stewart is even riding, and Cool see him actually on the line at Hangtown.

But I think I have to give Dungey the edge here. Both will be dialing in new bikes, but JS hasn't really gone outdoors since 2008.

It's a long series, and Dungey's strengths are fitness and consistency, and the KTM support is solid. Need to know more about what Stewart's program looks like.

It is funny to me how many people are picking JS in this match up. The guy hasn't ran a full outdoor season since 2008. He also has crashed in just about every SX race this year. Dungey is super consistant and fast. Remember he beat RV straight up in a few rounds last year and would have won the title if his bike had not ran out of gas.

Suddenly Stewart says he is going to ride outdoors and no one knows what bike he will be on and so many are saying he will beat Dungey. Dungey is fast, consistent, mentally tough, and is the most fit rider out there. Stewart is not consistent, not mentally tough, and his fitness is questionable. He is fast but he needs to show he can be fast for an entire race.

I hope he does ride a Suzuki and the bike solves a lot of his problems. But even then, I think it will be tough to be RD.

I thought I heard Paul Malin saying on the broadcast that Ken was on an older model KTM 450. Ken also mentions it here (scroll forward to 3:43) that it was Max Nagl's bike from 2 years ago:

Did you forget the beating Dungey laid on James at Unidilla'10?

I am going with Dungey all the way!! Stew may win a few here and there, but he is WAAAY too inconsistant, and Ryan is in TOP shape.
