You can see him trying to pull his leg free in the air before impact. So bummed for him and his team. Hope it's not bad bad can't wait till he's back. Speedy made this supercross season it's gonna suck with him gone.

In all seriousness, it freaking sucks! I've NEVER liked the guy one little bit but he earned so much of my respect as a fan last year with what he accomplished and he has been fighting so hard this year. It isn't the Factory Yamaha Reed that I grew to despise.

I hope it isn't serious and that he can come back next week. It's a long season and something freaky will happen to RV and RD before the year is out.

Just watching the race again and have watched the crash several times... I agree with this. It looks like he's trying to free his leg before he hits the ground.

Will be interesting to hear exactly what happened... unless there is damage control done by the boot manufacturer. Whistling

Either way, soooo bummmed at this. My favorite rider and the only real contender to Poto and now this season just got a little less interesting.

have to agree with that- im absolutely gutted!! Chad was on fire this season- the last 2 rounds i think he looked at least as good, if not better than he ever has! (probably as good as the form he was showing on the steel framed yz250 when he was battling RC)
I was anticipating a dog fight between reed and RV for the rest of the season (those 2 had clearly seperated themselves from the rest of the class, and were in a league of their own) - i would have expected RV to wreck before reed- chad was looking so smooth and fluent out there, it was a shock to see him hit the dirt.
I hope if chad is out for the season with a blown ACL that he comes back next season and doesnt retire- he's still got it, definitely got more championships in him!

Hope its not as bad as it looks!

I agree the bike has something to do with JS7 riding different but I think JS7 has finally lost his edge.

Some interesting comments on here as usual. I think CR22 moved over because Alessi was in the line he had taken a couple of laps before. It's an observation, not an excuse. That's part of racing. For the first time this year we saw someone going head to head with RV, and I thought it made for much better racing. I would rather see close racing than watch a run-away race by any rider.
CR22 is an asset to our sport in more ways than one.

Here's to a speedy recovery for CR22.

That is what it looked like to my old eyes too.
No matter what the outcome, I sure did hate to see him take that hit!

I was pretty surprised that happened, but not shocked. When Chad kicks it up to that next level something seems to happen to him. It happened the year that James was out of the SX series and Chad won the title. I think that he threw it away when he was considered the favorite. It happened last year outdoors when he seemed to be ready to stomp the competition. He looked like he was ready to put it to RV that's for sure.

I was thinking that it got caught on the two hinge portion of the new boot design that he is wearing.

Reed was on fire and totally in control. I continue to be super impressed by the guy. My heart sank when that happened. What a major fucking bummer for him and a death blow to the series. RV2's series to lose at this point. That was shaping up to be the race of the series. I sure hope there is no structural damage but I'm not holding my breath on this.

Something looked like it was wrong when he took off. I watched it a few times in slow motion and as he comes off the lip his right foot looks like it is below the peg and his left leg looks forward from the peg. I think his left boot was caught as he came out of the corner and off the lip. If so we'll never know unless there is a picture from the left side.

So bummed for Reed! He was the fastest man on the planet last night guaranteed.

Thank you chad for riding as hard and fast as you have been and not leaving anything on the table. I have a feeling we will now see a string of villopoto wins from here on out if chad stays off the line.

After 20 years of watching the sport on TV I finally went to my first Supercross last night. CR22 is my fav and I was having the experience of a life time until he went down. I was crushed. I just left after that. Sad times.

...and that is why it shouldn't be your last live event. The collective breath was taken out of that stadium last night, mine included.

Hopefully you go to Freestone.

I am waiting for some idiot on here to say it was the bikes fault....no, it was the aliens hovering above in the stratosphere that directed their deadly laser beam on Reed because he was going so well and might win the championship, but unfortunately their aim was off so it hit the bike and caused the bike to bite his leg.

:-)
